... for anyone that is interested. Account Creation Optional will be included in a future version of Zen Cart, but not until the checkout and create account sections are re-written in v1.5.
Thanks for letting us know Kim! :thumbsup:
I didn't see where this had been ask before, but here is the problem I'm having with the mod.
I installed "Integrated Checkout Without Account" Ver. 1.0 and now my shipping modules won't work. UPS, and USPS tells me to check the ZIP Code because it's unable to find a suitable shipping method. I had this working last week when the store crashed and I re-built it. Everything was working fine, so I added COWOA, but now no one can complete the Checkout.
I only used the files in the Install Directory, and did not use the "Add ON'S".
This did happen the first time I installed it, so I'm confused about what happened this time around.
Thanks.
Do you have a backup copy of your old file? I would reinstall that and add the COWOA code manually.
Not with the new version of this mod. The first version had the dot. I believe somewhere on this board, someone made an add-on you can use to be able to see which customers created an account. I haven't tried it yet.
I have just installed this on my new website im working on but im having problems with the order steps, the last steps always displays under the first step box for some reason in IE7, picture of error please check attachment
does anyone know how to fix this thanks
i had that same problem. if you set the padding to 0px instead of 3px for "#order_steps" in the css files it should be fixed...at least it worked for me anyway.
I'm having a problem with my login page in safari only. For some reason the button is being pushed outside its box.
any idea how to fix this? thanks!
I am using the lavender template and seem to having serious problems installing this IntegratedCOWOA. Is there anybody out there that would be willing to install this and how much would it cost. Please P.M me. Thanks.
I hope i'm ok to ask this on the forums, apologies if not.:frusty::frusty::frusty:
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="]Hi,
Just stumbled across this mod, and noticed it’s very similar in nature to what I’ve done with the checkout process. At the moment, I am in the final steps of finishing my webstore. In fact, I only need to customize the checkout process before I can test and go live.[/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="] [/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="]Anyway, I have a few important questions, but let me explain my method first. For reference, you can visit http://www.brainbulbrecords.com/store and see what I’ve done so far.[/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="]
First off, I’m using PayPal Express Checkout, and nothing else. I’ve removed all links to login and create account. This includes the checkout button on the shopping cart page. This of course forces customers to go through the PayPal Express option, with no option for creating an account.[/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="]
So at this point, I just need to figure out how to suppress the Welcome email and add a mod that allows a customer to check order status w/o logging in (one of the add-ons to this mod).[/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="] [/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="]Question is, can this be done, perhaps using parts of this mod?[/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="] [/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="]Again, I have not finished my store, so there may be some things I’ve missed.[/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="] [/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT=Arial Narrow][FONT="]Sorry if I'm just way off base (or off topic).
Thanks,

Hi guys. Love the module and was hoping to get a little help customizing and figuring it out.
First of all, the little div that displays the sale progress (shows the five steps with the arrow above it), is that supposed to integrated with the module or do i have to add this manually? I ask because i've installed the module but i don't see it. (this may be my fault as i have a pretty customized theme with a lot of elements hidden)
Secondly and most important, i was hoping to get some help customizing the process, particularly removing a step or two. For example, the store i'm setting up only has one item and one method for shipping, so i would like to remove the shipping page somehow. is there a way to do this?
Other than that, are there any other pages that can be easily removed/merged? Like billing and payment pages.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Not sure if anyone else has ran into this problem.
I can purchase and create and account, but when I logout and try to log back in it doesn't recognize the email address. I even went to have the password sent to me and it still doesn't recognize the email address.
Scott
This is the error I get.
Error: Sorry, there is no match for that email address and/or password
The email address is in the admin.
OK, I tried setting up an account with my work email address. Seemed to work fine this morning. Not sure what was going on. I did toggle the
recreate sessions, maybe that helped. I just purchased an item from the store and it seems to be working fine.
Scott
find craftzombies post in this thread #205 At the bottom of the box you will see the No Account Zen. Clicking on that link will download her mod and inside you will see how she addressed the emails sent.
This is my perfered mod as I do not wish to have customers log into an account.
^ Thanks, I actually already went and did something like this. I just configured PPEC to not create an account, and edited the email files to not send a link to track orders. I'm pretty much done! I've already tested, and bought multiple times using the same PayPal address. Just have to add some more products. :D
It would be nice if there were a self contained track order module that only required an email address and order number!
Hey guys,
I'm sorry for my absence here. Between school and a few other things I've been pretty run down. I've got finals yet to contend with. I think I've fallen out of phase with Zen a little too because I hit a roadblock with a new manufacturer that's set me back a few months.
Until I'm all done, I'm adding my e-mail to the wiki in the links section. If you've got a question that's not being answered, please feel free to e-mail me. I do respond regularly.
On that note, Boggled, I wanted to make sure that you got my response.
Thanks much,
Joe
I'm just about to install this contr. but find that I'm unsure what is meant in Step One of the install: Go through all directories and change all "YOUR TEMPLATE" directory names to the name of your actual template.
I'm using the classic template and have simply modified the style sheet to suit, so do I need to change anything?
This question shows that you really should take a step back and learn more about the basics of zen-cart. We all had to do it, look in the top right under tutorials/FAQ and search and read up on templates also it would be a good idea to buy the book if you haven't done that. Not making fun of you here, we all had to do it and I recommend that you do it or later you are going to have to fix things and it will take longer. Good luck
:unsure: I am kind of an idiot when it comes to editing PhP. I have been getting by and am satisfied with what I have done so far. Has anyone used this with Apple_Zen? If so, did you have any problems.
In my previous cart, using the sage template I had to restore backups of my Header.php file to correct the formatting after installing COWOA and Order Steps. The new Apple_Zen comes with Order steps and there are only 3 of them which I like very much. I just don't want to destroy my site by installing COWOA if it is not compatible with a 3 page order steps instead of 5.
Anyone using the Apple_Zen and COWOA?
Here's my site www.wholesomehound.com/index.php
Hi All,
Really new to all of this ... so there's no current way to edit the login request /info in Zen without downloading another module?
As it stands now:
http://www.simplybestgifts.com/store...ain_page=login
This seems like WAY too much info to request and probably has cost me sales.
If I need some download to make the sales process as streamlined as possible, I'll be completely lost as to put what I need and where to put it.
If there is someone who could install it for me, please let me know a price.
Thanks
You may contact me here ... my email from my isp and webhost seem to have delivery / receipt issues:

In the end, all this mod does is reduce the required amount of information by 2 items - no account, so no username, no password.
The info on your current form can be reduced by going to admin > configuration > Customer Details and turning off stuff you don't need.
Thanks,
I did turn off those things I didn't think I needed. However, I check the link again, but the form is still requesting a ton of "required" information.
Phillip
So what DON'T you need to check that you have a valid billing address and a valid shipping address?
As far as if the address info is verified, doesn't that usually rest on the payment system anyway? I've never seen Zencart verify an address yet.
Let's not begin another war between those who think this mod is a good idea and those who do not.
I have no opinion either way - if you like it - use it, if you don't then don't use it. Simple as that.
betty
No-one's starting a war - we have here a noobie on his 2nd post. This mod does exactly what it says - it allows checkout without an account. philipf is concerned about the amount of data required. COWOA removes 2 items only; if he has removed all that he doesn't need via admin and STILL thinks he has too many, we need to know what he doesn't require to guide him on how to get rid of it.
Doesn't matter who verifies it - the customer still needs to enter it.
Thanks Ryk,
I am indeed a newbie ... to the best of my ability, I've turned off those features that the login is saying is "required information". After update, however, when I check the log-in page, there are those red asterisks, telling me the info is required.
For example, if you're shopping somewhere online, it's a realtively unknown site and person running it, do you really want to give your First and last name, physical address, telephone number, email address, creating yet another password? To me, that's way too many hoops to go through to buy low-end price physical products.
All I'm trying to do is make the process as simple for the end consumer.
I've set up PayPal Express, but that seemingly has nothing to do with the above.
My last desire is to stir up some sort of war or fight ... hey, if there's a tutorial entitled "how to disable the Zen Cart login process for the complete idiot storeowner", someone please point me there.
I'll be the first to admit, I need to learn more about Zen. I've looked through one tutorial http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/...ct_catalog.htm
but didn't quite see what I needed ... not saying it isn't there ... I just may not quite be looking close enough or in the right place.
I appreciate the feedback ... any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Phillip
As I said, installation of this mod removes the password bit - but you still need those details you've listed to make a delivery and/or contact the customer if there's any problem...like with YOU not getting the payment.
If you go to admin>configuration>minimum values and set the ones that you believe you don't need to 0, then the "requirement" goes away...but please don't complain when someone orders a couple of dozen of your "low-end" price products and you get a chargeback after you've dispatched the goods.
Don't forget, the customer is only half the equation and - assuming you want to make money - you have to take reasonable precautions to safeguard yourself.
One last thing - if you're so concerned that they may not want to give details because you're an unknown...why on earth would they give you their money?
I'm sure there is a good reason for this restriction, but can anyone tell me what the reason is?Quote:
once an e-mail has been used in the creation of a permanent account that e-mail may not be used for COWOA
I'm asking because a customer with an existing permanent account may sometimes prefer to COWOA.
Not sure why they would want to enter in all of their info again when this time they only need to enter email and password. I haven't seen any other sites out there where you can COWA after becoming registered. I'm not saying there aren't any or that people shouldn't be able to, just wondering why they would want to do more work especially after they were willing to register in the first place.
Mine works now, thank you for your input !
There were some files missing. My ftp program seems to be faulty...
leaving a mess after I upload.
what ftp program were you using?
[FONT=Trebuchet MS]I've been searching the forums, etc., and it seems that Integrated Checkout Without Account is the only current mod for allowing customers to checkout without an account. I've seen conversations about one by GDOrn, with an example here, but I can't find the mod and it doesn't seem to be supported. Does anyone know if this is all the case? Because I actually like elements of that version.
Alternatively, I'm about to install ICWA, and am wondering if I could do the following (with or without ICWA). Basically, I don't want to make the customer think about 3 choices (sign up, skip, or login?). Instead, they're either new or returning. If new, they just go through checkout, entering standard info, and for the password part, it's optional with a brief explanation that if they create a password, next time will be faster, etc. So the only decision is, "do I create a password or not?".
Everything else would work the same as ICWA is set up to work.[/FONT]
For those using PayPal Express checkout, check out my site for a simple checkout without account. I can let everyone know what I did if interested. I've had repeat customers buy with no issues. The only thing I would want to add is someway to check on status of order, maybe with tracking info. That would be an awesome mod!
Go here: http://brainbulbrecords.com/store
Hey chrisareas, just thought I'd let you know that when I was on the PayPal screen to login and I clicked on "return to BrainBulb Records", I received this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '@' in ..../public_html/store/includes/modules/create_account.php on line 395
Thanks craftzombie. I never thought to click that when testing. I'll look into it.
I've run across a possible problem when a customer revisits the site to purchase another product.
When a customer is checking out with the same email address they used the last purchase, it tells them that the email address they are using is already registered with the site and to login to complete the checkout process. How can they login when they don't have a password to login with?
Hey guys,
I may just put up a tutorial in the near future, when I get some time. Should be helpful for PayPal only users. Anyone interested?
As for the above problem, I believe that is solved when you go to Admin and look at the settings for PayPal Express (assuming you are using PayPal). There is an option where it says "create account?" or something. I just clicked no, and have not had any issues. So far I have had 2 repeat customers.
Hope this help,
C
It is only supposed to do that when they created an account the first time around. If it is doing that when they used "checkout without account" the first time around, then I would try re-installing everything because something may not have transfered properly. I have tested this several times on my own cart and have used the same email address on "checkout without account" orders at least 6 times in a row with no errors.
Hi,
I ordered from Linens and Things the other day and fell in love with their checkout. I be able to do the same with the COWOA mod right? The file I would have to edit is the tpl_login_default.php correct? There are two things that I don't see how to do- the option to create an account at the end of the checkout and tracking your order without signing in.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks!

Hi All
I really like the look of this mod. I would like to implement this in my cart, but there is a pitfall. Please don't all shout at me. I run zen 1.2.5. To upgrade to the latest version would be a complete nightmare, as there I so many mods, and in all honesty, alot have not been documented.
Can anyone see any big reasons why this mod would not integrate with version 1.2.5.

[FONT=Trebuchet MS]Hi all, sorry, the email error I was having I don't think is a COWOA error. It's a mail transport error, and I posted a question about it in the email forum here.
But I would still love to see if anyone has any ideas about modifying this COWOA process so it's more seemless to the customer, as described here.[/FONT]
Hi there
My client's shop is at: http://receiptrolls.com/shop/
I have installed this mod but for some reason after I click on "continue" under the "checkout without account" option I get an error 404, the URL for the page that comes up is "https://receiptrolls.com/shop/index.php?main_page=FILENAME_NO_ACCOUNT"
I know that it's been reported that the COWOA mod will probably not work if the checkout page is one page.
Before I did the install of this mod, the checkout page I had originally, was pretty much everything on one page, once a user clicked on the first "continue" step at the checkout page.
I did not install a mod that set up a 1 page check out, but I do recall setting this option in admin, somewhere, I just can't recall where to go to disable it.
Can anyone help me figure this out?
Hello! I added something to your cart and on the shopping cart contents page... when I click on "checkout", I get the 404 error. I'm not sure if you've done anything else to it since you posted this message because you had said your error was happening when clicking on "checkout without account" on the login page. The error that I just received has nothing to do with this mod.
You have missing pages and/or you still have files from some mod that are messing things up. This mod does not start working from the shopping cart contents page. It starts when you click on "checkout without account". If you clicked on checkout without account before and got a 404 error because mainpage=no_account was not there, that means that your files did not upload correctly during FTP and you should try again (or you uploaded them to the wrong template). Also, I don't recall there being any switch in the admin to change to a one-page checkout, although I am still using version 1.3.6 so I don't know if this is something new in 1.3.7. Are you sure you never installed a mod that has anything to do with logging in or checking out??
I am having the same problem. I have re-installed the files, but no luck.Quote:

Just to clarify... the first time they checked out, they used "checkout without account"? If they registered the first time they checked out, they will receive the error if they try to checkout without account a second time with the same email. Just want to make sure. Also, do you have a site I can look at?
Hi - thanks for checking it out and for your reply. You are right. I went back in and found out my FTP program had been goofing up and only sending just short of 1kb or so of each file over to the server. So I had to just delete all the modded overwrite files, and start over. Of course I had them backed up so that was easy enough. The COWOA does work now for me, thanks, but it brought up a new crop of errors. The first one was some "call to action ()_" undefined, on line XX" of tpl_checkout_default.php. So I went into the tpl_checkout_default.php and opened it with a line-numbered notepad program to see the problem was an extra '}' so I got rid of that. Then there was another "call to action ___ undefined" error, this time it had something to dow the PayPal checkout variables listed in the tpl_checkout_default.php file. So since I'm not using PayPal checkout I just commented all that out. Now everything is working except a new problem totally unrelated to this mod... I am using Authorize.net on this site since my client has their payment processor, and so I have that module installed and set to default, but the pay page says "you must select a paynt type to continue", which is weird because I had selecte the ccard button!

Sorry for the weird post above... I spent the night in the hospital waiting room and so am running on no sleep. I must have been feeling dozy because I typed my reply, then copied it because I was logged out, and apparently I pasted it twice. By the time I figured that out it was too late to edit :(
Hi
I have just installe the COWOA mod on a 1.3.7 cart. I seem to be having some trouble getting it working. When you go to the checkout there is a button missing for creating an account for new customers.
If I go to checkout without account the progress bar has wrapped to the next line for complete order.
If I then put details in and try to continue it asks for company name even though it should not be required. If I add a company name in I get these errors when I continue.

Hello all me again.
Well for some strange reason this has started working in a fashoin. I went to the shipping modules and the order totals and re set them up and checkout started working. It still requires a company name though.
The problem with the progress bar is still there and the button. The progress bar only shows in IE and not on FF. The button problem is because the button is not present. The location it is looking for it looks very strange. Mayne someone can throw some light on this.
Also maybe I have missed something, but how do you know when the customer has checked out without account. I expected to see a . after the email address in admin, but they all look the same to me. Also I have installed the order status mod. How or/and where does the customer use this ? I expected to see somewhere where the customer can enter email address and order number.
Regards
Laurie
Hi Laurie,
Yes, you missed something. The old version of this mod put a period after the email address in the admin. That is no longer the case with the new version. I don't know all the specifics, but I think that the older version's method was a more "dirty" method of achieving the checkout without account and the period was very necessary. The new version does not require a period after the email address in the db. (author of this mod: please feel free to yell at me if anything I say is incorrect - i sure as hell am no expert!) I believe someone did make some sort of addition to this mod where you can tell which customers signed up. I downloaded it but never implemented it. Its somewhere on this thread.
Hello,
Im using v.1.3.7.1 and im wondering if this mod will work or will have compatibility issues? Also, which one should i use? The "No Account Zen" or the "Optional Account Zen"?
Thank you
Now I have the checkout mod working perfectly except a new problem has come up... I am using Authorize.net on this site since my client has their payment processor, and so I have that module installed and set to default, but the pay page says "you must select a paynt type to continue", which is weird, because I had selected the paypent type!
It wasn't like this before I installed this mod!
a couple of quick questions...love the mod btw.
how do i remove the mandatory telephone number entry?
also, does anyone have any trouble with the order progress bar being forced into 2 lines in ie7? it looks fine in firefox, but something in the css is not jiving... as a quick fix i just made my .order_steps_text1_COWOA (1-4) width 19% and did the same with the progress bar. it looks ok now, but i'm anal and know that it SHOULD work at 20%.
oddly enough, in the regular registered user progress bar it looks fine (width is 25%).
thanks!
Zack
this is earlier in the thread re this problem.
i had that same problem. if you set the padding to 0px instead of 3px for "#order_steps" in the css files it should be fixed...at least it worked for me anyway.
Cheers
Laurie
Adding to zacks problem.
The change that I detailed above dealt with the issue when checking out without an account.
I have now found that the same issue exists but only in the shipping part of checkout with an account and only in IE.
Tried changing things in various CSS files but no luck.
Any help would be great.
you can have a look here. www.lozer.co.uk/shop
When you register just use testing as the names.
Cheers
Laurie
I have COWOA in stall and it works great, but I have the words "Order Status" in the header and Lookup Order Infomation above the welcome message. How do I remove both? Thanks!
My bad... I was missing a file. All is good!
I have uploaded everything (yes I did change the My-Templete), installed .SQL and I am not getting any errors, however there is also nothing showing to beable to checkout without an account. I have something in my shopping cart. Any ideas what the problem is?
Nevermind, somehow I missed one of the Your Templetes----oh well all fixed! Great Module!!!:clap:
Hi!
I find this great mod yesterday (have looking for someone like this for long time) and installed it successfully :smile:
But when I added dob, i need it do to adult content, it works fine but in the admin it shows birthdays as 30.11.2036. Have someone a fix to that? All other works fine.
I have too under work to merge shippingpage and paymentpage to one page because I have only one shippingmethod so I think that page is unnessery for the customers, and I will get the checkoutprocedure to 3 pages :cool:

KZGotU, Thank you so much for this fix. I got so far in building my site when I realized zen insisted on a login. So many people hate that and I really didn't want to make my customers register before they could purchase.
I installed all your fixes, but I'm not quite sure if the admin page installed the MySQL patch properly.The admin page doesn't like me and it refuses to put anything on my define pages. I always have to go into the files and type it into the code. My COWA seems to be working, but the admin install page gave me the following error:
---1062 Duplicate entry 'Permanent Account Holders Only' for key 2
in:
[INSERT INTO strquery_builder ( query_id , query_category , query_name , query_description , query_string ) VALUES ( '', 'email,newsletters', 'Permanent Account Holders Only', 'Send email only to permanent account holders ', 'select customers_email_address, customers_firstname, customers_lastname from TABLE_CUSTOMERS where COWOA_account != 1 order by customers_lastname, customers_firstname, customers_email_address');]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.---
Is there a way to know if the SQL patch took effect? In case it didn't, I was wondering if you could list where to type everything if I need to do it that way. I'm afraid I'd break the whole system if I just try to figure that one out myself.
One more question... On the checkout pages, there is a little box with a ? in it over the active segment. Is that meant to be a ? or is it meant to be an image of something? If it is meant to be an image, do you know where I should store one?
Thanks again for a great fix for the cart.
Catherine
it seems like i have a few issues with COWOA... I DO love it and it does the job on the test site. i would just like to clarify a few things....
Is it correct that i get account vreation mails from COWOA-customers???
When a cowoa-customer uses the same email again, it seems he doesn't get the order confirmation mail.
and, i ran over your forum threat and haven't found how to distinguish between account and cowoa cutomers... somehow... the "." after the eamils isn't there:frusty:
If you wanna have a look and play yourself...
the link it test.themeltingpotonline.net
The original version of this mod used the "." after emails, but not the new sql (better) version. You missed post #50 where Joe decided to go with sql instead: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...6&postcount=50
Bluefish created a mod to distinguish between customers. I downloaded it but never tried it because I was too busy. That post is here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=186
and what about the issue the the order confirmations isn't send the after the first time the costomer used the email for an order?
I just placed two test orders on your site using COWOA. I used the same email address both times. Not once did I receive an account creation email (which is correct), and I received my order confirmation email both times. Its working fine.
Also, I am just trying to help and in no way am trying to be mean. I just want you to get lots of orders...... change that font!!!! Its a big turn-off. Since you are just testing, maybe its not permanent anyway. I don't know about other people, but I prefer good old Verdana or Arial.
Is this mod something for everyone? If so where can I get the files to change my settings?
Hi,
Well i eventually decided to have a go at this mod but as expected I'm having problems that i hope someone can help me with.
Because of other mods i manually over wrote the files and did it to the letter and have checked them all but i have 2 major problems,
1. The first is this in split mode, CoWA appears twice.
2. The second when i set split mode to false CoWA does not appear at all.
I've obviously done something seriously wrong here but dont want to start messing with anything yet, i hoping that somebody with a bit more knowledge with this mod can shed some light on this and help me out.:frusty:
As an after thought i am going to put a link to the site but it is an adult toy site (no ########) so please dont click if it's not what you want to see.

Thanks in advance
Hi,
Looks like a problem with your tpl_login_default.php template. Bit hard to know exactly what the problem is without looking at the template but there should be two sections of code that look like:
One (or both) is probably in the wrong place in the template.PHP Code:
<?php
if ($_SESSION['cart']->count_contents() > 0) { ?>
<fieldset>
<legend>Checkout Without Account</legend>
<?php echo TEXT_RATHER_COWOA; ?>
<div class="buttonRow forward">
<?php echo "<a href=\"" . zen_href_link(FILENAME_NO_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL') . "\">"; ?>
<?php echo zen_image_button(BUTTON_IMAGE_CONTINUE, BUTTON_CONTINUE_ALT); ?></a></div>
<br class="clearBoth" />
</fieldset>
<?php } ?>
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Christian.
Thank you both so much for replying to my predicament.
The problem is now solved, i will explain where i went wrong just in case it helps someone else.
In the over writes file is states:-
FIND:
-
<div class="information"><?php echo TEXT_NEW_CUSTOMER_POST_INTRODUCTION_SPLIT; ?></div>
<?php echo zen_draw_form('create', zen_href_link(FILENAME_CREATE_ACCOUNT, 'action=process', 'SSL')); ?>
<div class="buttonRow forward"><?php echo zen_image_submit(BUTTON_IMAGE_CREATE_ACCOUNT, BUTTON_CREATE_ACCOUNT_ALT); ?></div>
-
AFTER, ADD:
-
<?php
if ($_SESSION['cart']->count_contents() > 0) { ?>
<br class="clearBoth" />
<hr id="catBoxDivider" />
<br class="clearBoth" />
<?php echo TEXT_RATHER_COWOA; ?>
<div class="buttonRow forward">
<?php echo "<a href=\"" . zen_href_link(FILENAME_NO_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL') . "\">"; ?>
<?php echo zen_image_button(BUTTON_IMAGE_CONTINUE, BUTTON_CONTINUE_ALT); ?></a></div>
<?php } ?>
i did as requested to the letter and did not take into account the fieldset tag:-
<label class="inputLabel" for="login-password"><?php echo ENTRY_PASSWORD; ?></label>
<?php echo zen_draw_password_field('password', '', zen_set_field_length(TABLE_CUSTOMERS, 'customers_password') . ' id="login-password"'); ?>
<br class="clearBoth" />
</fieldset>
<?php
if ($_SESSION['cart']->count_contents() > 0) { ?>
<fieldset>
<legend>Checkout Without Account</legend>
<?php echo TEXT_RATHER_COWOA; ?>
<div class="buttonRow forward">
<?php echo "<a href=\"" . zen_href_link(FILENAME_NO_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL') . "\">"; ?>
<?php echo zen_image_button(BUTTON_IMAGE_CONTINUE, BUTTON_CONTINUE_ALT); ?></a></div>
<br class="clearBoth" />
</fieldset>
<?php } ?>
the new piece of code has to be placed after </fieldset> and not after <br class="clearBoth" /> as stated.
Anyway problem sorted thanks to CJPinder who kindly pointed me in the right direction.
Cheers:clap:

Hello all.
Sorry for my absence. I thought I owed everyone an update regarding my disappearing from the forums.
Unfortunately, I've been unable to get my own ZenCart venture off the ground. It was mainly a matter of raising the money to import a few tons of yarn. I guess I've sort of been reluctant to declare the matter dead, but, for now anyway I probably won't be working on ZenCart anymore.
It's not a bad thing, though, where one door closes another opens I guess. I've gotten a hold of a very good job opportunity. So, I'm not posting to declare defeat or anything. (; I just wanted to let you guys know that I won't be able to offer support for this anymore.
There are probably now people more qualified to answer questions about this mod than I am. (;
So, I wanted to formally relinquish any claims over this mod. I will continue to host a demo store as well as my version of the mod for at least 6 months. If somebody puts up another demo store/package host could you please let me know at: meingolem at gmail dot com.
I may be reached at that e-mail for any other matter as well, although I will probably become increasingly unable to figure out the answers to support questions. (;
I may return to ZenCart at some time, but I will not attempt to claim any leadership over the mod. So feel free to do anything you like with it.
I really appreciated all your support and thanks, and I'm glad to have been able to contribute.
Thanks,
Joe
Hi! I'm new here, i come from poland and my name is chris. i have a problem with using this mod. I have installed version 1.3.7 PL of Zen Cart and I can't find those folders and files. it seems like they don't exist :flex: so please can You help me?:smile:
I have run into a problem, and was wondering if anyone has found a solution. The program runs good, except existing custmers that enter their address. It makes these customers sign in first. I currently just let existing customers sign in and new ones use the new part, unless they just have another email address. I was wondering if anyone has figured a way around this?
If the person is new, checks out without an account, and comes back another time, they can use the same email address they used the first time.
If the person is new, creates an account/checks out and comes back another time, they must either
1. sign in with the email address and password used before
2. check out without creating an account, but cannot use the same email address as before
3. create another account/checkout using a different email address
Your question is kind of confusing to me. Maybe I just need some coffee....
Please feel free to elaborate and I'll try to wrap my brain around it!! :smile:
Do you have this working now? I would like to try an add it as well but I want to make sure someone has it working.Quote:

and do you know something about my problem maybe?
Maybe I can ask it a little more clearly,
For customers that already have accounts (existing customers), is there a way they can use the "Checkout without Account mod." If they try to use it, an error shows up saying the email is already in the system. Our whole point to using this was so they would not have to use a password to order.
I assume that I can delete their account out of the system, and they can use the no-sign up system, but other than that, is there another over-ride system.
Thanks
I wonder if it might be a matter of communication with the customer. Reword the error message to gently remind them they have an account and that it's more convenient for them to use it now that it's already created than to not use it.
But there really should be a way for them to say, in effect, "Yeah, I know, but I want to order without logging in for my own peculiar reasons, so get out of my way and let me do it!" In other words a Cancel button in the error message which lets them proceed.
Now if only I could PHP I'd program that and offer it up.
Rob
Aloha,
I installed COWOA without a hitch and proceeded to implement the add-on regarding the tableless order steps. It is not appearing and I double checked that all files were uploaded to the proper directories.
Take a look here: www.hawaiianwoodys.com
Any clue why this might be happening?
Mahalo for any and all energy given to my pondering.
Kelly
Please disregard my post - all is well!
Hi! For some reason I cannot get past the first step in the checkout process after installing this mod. Whenever I click 'Continue' to move on to Step 2 (provide delivery information) I'm redirected to '/index.php?main_page=login'. This happens now if I 'checkout without account' or as a 'returning customer' or as a 'new customer with account'. The order process fails to proceed past step 1 in all cases. It did not do this before installing the mod. Installation went without a hitch and I've double checked to ensure all the files are in the right place. I have ZenCart 1.3.7. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update: Turns out it wasn't an issue with the Mod at all. I needed to set 'Session Settings - Recreate Sessions' to false.
Where is the correct and current download for this?
Thanks,
Kelly
I have this installed and it works like a champ! I do, however, have an astetics issue. It the customer uses cowoa the step/arrow indicator works great. If yhe customer creates an account the step/arrow indicator is not so neatly displayed. The last step gets pushed underneath the first step. Any idea what I should do to correct? Thanks!
Hi PastGenToys,
You could try changing the padding around line 9 in the all the COWA css files from 3 to 0, it seems to have worked for others. You could also play around wih the margin spacings (margin: 10px 10px;) around line 11. :)
Has anyone had trouble displaying the 'Order Status' link in the information box? Is there a switch setting to display it or is it supposed to appear once the mod is installed.
Hi Guys,
If you want to display the COWA 'Order Status' link in your information box...
in:
includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/english.php
add the following to the bottom of the define list:
// information box text in sideboxes/information.php:
define('BOX_INFORMATION_ORDER_STATUS', 'Order Status');
then in the sidebox module:
/includes/modules/sideboxes/YOUR_TEMPLATE/information.php
add the code after: unset($information); - found at about line 12 - where you want the link to appear:
if (DEFINE_ORDER_STATUS <= 1) {
$information[] = '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_ORDER_STATUS) . '">' . BOX_INFORMATION_ORDER_STATUS . '</a>';
}
upload the edited files and the link should appear in the Information side box.
Hope it helps. :)
I have COWA installed and it works great, except the customers are not receiving an email order confirmation upon checkout. They enter their email address during COWA checkout so I how do I get it to send them an email order confirmation???
Thanks!
I'm having the same problem. The buyers are not receiving a email confirmation, and it has to do with the period at the end of their email address.
So when they click "Confirm Order" it goes to a white page that reads "Email Error: Could not instantiate mail function."
Is there a fix for this??? :dontgetit
Also, in the admin, when I try to use the "email customer" button, it cannot send to them, cos the of the address with the period.
I have given up on the COWOA mod, and modified the current login page to give the customer the appearance of not creating an account.
By modifying the login page 'Sign Up' button and text.
You can see an example of what I did here: https://northcountrychapel.com/shop/...ain_page=login
I edited these files
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
includes/languages/english/button_names.php
Line 67, I changed this:
define('BUTTON_CREATE_ACCOUNT_ALT', 'Sign Up');
to be this:
define('BUTTON_CREATE_ACCOUNT_ALT', ' Continue Check Out » ');
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
includes/languages/english/login.php
Line 19, I changed this:
define('TEXT_NEW_CUSTOMER_POST_INTRODUCTION_SPLIT', 'Create a Customer Profile with <strong>' . STORE_NAME . '</strong> which allows you to shop faster, track the status of your current orders, review your previous orders and take advantage of our other member\'s benefits.');
to be this:
define('TEXT_NEW_CUSTOMER_POST_INTRODUCTION_SPLIT', 'New customers click Continue Check Out.');
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
includes/templates/MY_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_login_default.php
Around Line 19, beneath "Use Split Login" code, I styled the 2 options to stack on top of each other. This way the "New Customer" box was on top of the "Returning Customers".
NOTE - Be sure to remove the old COWOA box
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Code:<fieldset class="centerColumn" id="">
<legend><?php echo HEADING_NEW_CUSTOMER_SPLIT; ?></legend>
<?php // ** BEGIN PAYPAL EXPRESS CHECKOUT ** ?>
<?php if ($ec_button_enabled) { ?>
<div class="information"><?php echo TEXT_NEW_CUSTOMER_INTRODUCTION_SPLIT; ?></div>
<div class="center"><?php require(DIR_FS_CATALOG . DIR_WS_MODULES . 'payment/paypal/tpl_ec_button.php'); ?></div>
<hr />
<?php echo TEXT_NEW_CUSTOMER_POST_INTRODUCTION_DIVIDER; ?>
<?php } ?>
<?php // ** END PAYPAL EXPRESS CHECKOUT ** ?>
<?php echo zen_draw_form('create', zen_href_link(FILENAME_CREATE_ACCOUNT, 'action=process', 'SSL')); ?>
<div class="buttonRow forward"><?php echo zen_image_submit(BUTTON_IMAGE_CREATE_ACCOUNT, BUTTON_CREATE_ACCOUNT_ALT); ?></div>
</form>
<div class="information"><?php echo TEXT_NEW_CUSTOMER_POST_INTRODUCTION_SPLIT; ?></div>
</fieldset>
<fieldset class="">
<legend><?php echo HEADING_RETURNING_CUSTOMER_SPLIT; ?></legend>
<div class="information"><?php echo TEXT_RETURNING_CUSTOMER_SPLIT; ?></div>
<?php echo zen_draw_form('login', zen_href_link(FILENAME_LOGIN, 'action=process', 'SSL')); ?>
<label class="inputLabel" for="login-email-address"><?php echo ENTRY_EMAIL_ADDRESS; ?></label>
<?php echo zen_draw_input_field('email_address', '', 'size="18" id="login-email-address"'); ?>
<br class="clearBoth" />
<label class="inputLabel" for="login-password"><?php echo ENTRY_PASSWORD; ?></label>
<?php echo zen_draw_password_field('password', '', 'size="18" id="login-password"'); ?>
<br class="clearBoth" />
<div class="buttonRow forward"><?php echo zen_image_submit(BUTTON_IMAGE_LOGIN, BUTTON_LOGIN_ALT); ?></div>
<div class="buttonRow back important"><?php echo '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_PASSWORD_FORGOTTEN, '', 'SSL') . '">' . TEXT_PASSWORD_FORGOTTEN . '</a>'; ?></div>
</form>
</fieldset>
Hopefully this will help other people who are having issues with the COWOA and are looking for another option.
The obvious draw back to this, is if a customer just decides to create an account, while nothing is in their shopping cart, the Sign up page appears to be a check out page. As I very rarely have anyone decide to just create an account, I think this benefit out weighs the drawback.
