cjcrafts, I was having the same thing. When I installed the captcha my links manger submit link page gave errors. I have an old version that I installed on my running site which is curently running php4.. and I have links manager on it and they both are fine? Im testing this on my PC which is PHP5 and im getting errors. The last time I tried to install I never saw any picture ect. it was like I didnt install it:blink: If you get yours fixed let me know and I will do the same...Thanks!

I found it in the zencart downloads I have attached it for you as well. I'm not sure if this is a new development with this new version or what. I do know I had the previous version working get with CAPTCHA. I am at a total loss as to how to fix it at this point. I'm hoping to find that answer here too.

For some people that are having problems displaying the captcha image due to the .html being added to captcha_img.php

I added this line to my .htaccess file and it seems to work.

Redirect /captcha_img.php.html https://mywebsite.c4.myhost.com/captcha_img.php

Obviously you would need to change the italics portion to suit your needs.

If your using SSL, I believe you must redirect to an SSL location so you don't get any certificate issues.

cjcrafts, I was talking about captcha's latest and greatest. I have the newest links manager installed and modifyed to except banners. I just cant get captcha to even show up at the bottom of anything... Thanks for finding the file though :bigups:......

:oops: I must have misunderstood you then, I am not aware of a new release of the gd ttf captcha mod.

On another note I have tried slicing and dicing mixing and matching several different combinations and still can't get it to work right with the links manager.

It appears just fine, but when I load the submit link page, however it displays the add image field with the field title all muffed up, and when you submit the link it rolls you right back to the submit form instead of displaying the link submitted screen.

It has me totally baffled because all I have been doing is adding the code that is between the //bof captcha and //eof captcha segments from the captcha mod to the header_php.php and tpl_links_submit_default.php of links manager 3.2.3.

I was hoping someone could expand on the reason this may be happening. CAPTCHA works on all pages that I choose in admin except for the actual "create account" page.:frusty:

I got it working without the Captcha at the bottom of the links Manager page! I just didnt use the header.php file that was with the Captcha.. I would still like to know how to add it at the bottom of the page though!

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!!! :cry: Users can not register on my site! I have CAPTCHA working on all pages except the "create account" page and it leaves users going somewhere else. Before this version I was running the other very basic CAPTHA. I tried to uninstall it the best I could and perhaps something went nuts. My page is HERE!! I am also using ultimate seo but the CAPTHA issue started before that installation.

How can I implement this CAPTCHA to the modul "Ask a question"?

Can someone tell me very simply how in intall the captcha. I've read the readme but still don't know what to do. I like to think that I'm rather intelligent and can follow directions but come on--this is like Greek to me. :shocking:

look threw the files and everywhere it says Your_Template change the name to your "custom" templates name. Then upload all files to your zencart. Not to worry all files are in the same structure so they will go where needed. Once uploaded the SQL patch thats includedNote I think there are several updates in the folder so do the most recent. Run the SQL in you zencars admin/tools/install SQL patches. Just copy your code and paste it in the "Enter the Query to be executed area" and click send. Thats it! you can go to the admin/configuration/CAPTCHA and adjust things ect and I think there are a few more areas that you can adjust but that is the basics. Good luck!

Hey everyone,

I really love Zencart and I am completely new to this. (i do understand php and some sql)

I was trying to use the captcha and the darkness template ->
Darkness Template

and it doesn't seem to show the image on the contact or any of the other pages that I found it on. I was able to do the test image and it worked fine but I guess i was confused on what could be wrong and why it wasn't showing. :frusty:

Then if I try to send a message it gives me the error that the code wasnt filled out correctly.

I have uninstalled it temporarily but can reinstall the captcha again if needed.

Hi,

got it from the download section. I am not sure what is wrong. The zip has install, update 2_1, update 2_2, update2_3 and one uninstall sql files.

I've just installed this mod and it appears to work except for the fonts not looking quite right.

It appears to be some sort of default font instead of the TrueType fonts. Looking back through this thread, I think Woodymon was having a similar problem, but I don't know what he did to fix it, if it ever did get fixed.

ok I have grown tired of trying to find the source of this problem.

as explained above in the quote, captcha is not randomizing the characters right on my site.

it is usually the same character like this

JJJJJJ or 111111, and occasionally KTTTTT, hopefully you all follow what I'm saying. It could be any character or number but this is how they are displaying.

it has been a little disturbing to my visitors as it show weakness in my security measures.

Can I also make a suggestion? Your site looks great, but it took me a while to go to your listing of products. You should list the categories on the left column also, and perhaps make the top bars stand out more.

and suddenly I noticed it was acting goofy.

"Enable this picture" problem.

Have searched this thread but when initially visiting the site with captcha enabled the image doesn't show and IE blocks saying it has stopped the content form loading because of a security certificate error.

You can enable the blocked content but this may put off visitors, is there a way for it just to load without the security warning?? Same happens in firefox.

any help would be appreciated.

found the problem ssl certificate belonged to www.mysite.com and my config was setup without as mysite.com

Welp, yet another week with no success on this issue. I have uninstalled, removed the files manually one at a time, reuploaded from a fresh downloaded copy from the downloads section, (Three Times as a matter of fact). and still it's acting funny as described. I am at a total loss and am considering dropping it totally. :lamo:

I am not code savvy enough to even think about toying with the code on this one. :frusty:

Just installed this and all great :D except the REDRAW button submits the form in question so you get popup validation about the incomplete fields....

Can it not just redraw the image without submitting the form?

Am using CSS buttons in zen cart

also on the write review page i get a secure and non secure ssl message as that is on HTTPS mode?

The only issue that I have is that the captcha image always displays the same characters repeated six times. Any ideas on how to set this up to use random characters?

Enable this picture error

Before anyone says anything i have 2 zencarts on my site

in seperate directories of course , like the below
mysite/wholesale/
mysite/retail/

the older one captcha works perfectly however in the newer one I get the above error, the settings are virtually identical, yet one works and one doesn't

when i run the captcha_debug script the output for both sites is virtually identical, the only differences being where i altered colour ranges on the older version

The captcha doesn't seem to work on my secure pages, but it does work on the nonsecure pages, anyone experienced this

The problem is as described in the previous post the only difference between the 2 stores is that the problematic one goes straight to the secure login page when you enetr it, whereas the working one doesn't

Hi, great mod :clap: .... but I think I have the same problem as nigelt74. I have had to remove the captcha on the registration page because it causes the login page to not appear the screen just goes blank.

Also on another note if I install the captcha (or any other mod) on the contact_us page then the dropdown bar for the multiple address (I only have 2) doubles up the email address.

Do you really need this mod though?
I haven't received more than 1 spam mail/month from the contact form at all, and it may make the customers feel a bit uncomfortable. So well, if you don't get that many spam thru the form, don't install this.
You can always tweak your mail server to filter out most spams, more work on your side, but less for the customers.

I am not sure we are getting the same error, my login screen appears fine everything shows up as it should apart from the captcha image, where the captcha image should show up I get "Enable this picture" and of course it's impossible to register if you can't see the image ,
also the captcha works fine on my login page provided I don't have the store set to prevent unlogged in users from browsing, ( Unfortunately i need this setting on my store)

I don't know if this will help you Nigelt74 but I solved my login page problems by simply deleting the captcha file create_account.php and then re-uploading it and using the overides system. Im still pretty new to Zen-Cart and after all the work I've done i've only just found out about overrides lol, luckily enough I kept the orig Zen-Cart files.

I must of had an FTP fault with the original upload, maybe you did too. I know its a long shot but good luck, if I find out anything I will let you know.

Figured I would post an update on this. I never did discover what was going on with this issue. We moved our site over to a new server running php 5.0 and the problem vanished.

EVERYTIME the warning: "You did not entered the validation code correctly. Please, try again." comes up despite enetring the code CORRECTLY.
But it works right when using www.store.com/captcha_test.php....

where could the error be?

Even though there is a note that the code is case sensitive, I am able to input the lowercase when uppercase is indicated and it is accepted.

I just moved to a different host. Now, I'm having a small font problem on my main site.

What's strange is that I have a test store in just a directory under the root. That one's displaying fine.

The 2 hosts run different versions of PHP, Apache, and MySQL. But that doesn't explain why my testshop displays it correctly... I wouldn't worry so much, but I know some people are going to complain that they can't read it...

I compared the captcha files for both, and I checked the settings, and they're identical.

The only difference is the database... I normally apply the same updates for both stores, so I don't even know where to check...

I tried all 3 image formats, as well as adjusting the font size. Nothing works. I seemed to recall an update that I applied to this mod a while back that fixed this issue at my old host. Maybe I need to undo it? Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Figured it out... Somehow, the fonts file was missing with the font file. I re-uploaded it, and all is well.

No, copy & paste won't work with this one because it calls in fields that it creates in other tables.

I had modify the script myself. The problem(s) were:

1. Field names weren't encased in `these`
2. Field values weren't encased in 'these' -- namely 'NULL' and the values for "Order"

The first part of the script ran fine where it added a field to the configuration_group, so I went and got the ID for the new field and in subsequent code I replaced:

@configuration_group_id

with..

'ID#' (the actual #)

...I also had to add the prefix to "configuration"

I have no idea why only a couple of us had this problem! I got it from the same download screen everyone else did. I don't know much about SQL versions, but maybe that had something to do with it.

I installed ths mod and it worked great on every page it's supposed to except for the contact_us page which it simply loaded a blank page on. When I uninstalled it the page was there again... Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, how did you fix it?

Upload & Execute don't work with magic quotes in 1.3.7.

Just a FYI.

Running cpatcha mod on ZC 1.3.7.1

Just updated host to Apache 2.2.6 and PHP 5.2.5 (and Apache and PHP now run as CGI and suphp and suhosin installed).

The captcha on contact form still works fine ;-)

Recent reports suggest Yahoo's captcha has possibly been cracked for a 35% success rate. (success defined from perspective of the spammer... 35% is considered very good accuracy)

I installed this and it works great with one SMALL issue.. The input is supposed to be case sensitive, but in my testing it's not.. Is there something I need to tweak to adjust this? Doesn't matter if I enter upper of lowercase letters.. As long as I enter the RIGHT letters and numbers, it will accept the input as valid regardless of whether I entered them with the right case..

If you look closely, it says "case insensitive." I changed it to say "not case sensitive."

I appreciate your response.. Yes I realized how the text reads.. (which is what prompted my inquiry) If there is no other solution, then I certainly will edit the form and remove the text altogether. (since it's not case sensitive, IMO it doesn't need to be there

However, it would be nice if this WAS case sensitive.. It helps increase the security of my forms..

Completely agree.

IMHO I don't see any need for case sensitive option. I have found the module works just fine and keeps bots from submitting my forms without case sensitivity.

Providing a case option is just one layer of confusion that my customers and shop owners whom I support don't need.

The string stating the code is NOT case sensitive is just fine and can be easily manipulated via a text editor if needed. I have yet to hear from a customer whom did not comprehend the instructions.

Invest your time in more meaningful efforts ;-)

Honestly, if it were up to me, I would just change the bloody text on the alert and call it a day.. However the client inquired about this.. and I just wanted to have a complete answer when I speak to him.. I will try to "talk him down".. He's VERY difficult.. **sigh** Phrases like "Ease of Use", "Best Practices" and "User Experience" don't seem to mean much to him, so instead of "making up" an answer, I just wanted to get an answer on this from here before I go back to him with a response/solution. Not debating the merits of this.. However, I asked the question because my client asked ME the question. I wanted to get an answer before I gave him a response.. It's HIS website.. If he INSISTS on this feature I wanted to know if there was even an option for it..

The string stating the code is NOT case sensitive is just fine and can be easily manipulated via a text editor if needed. I have yet to hear from a customer whom did not comprehend the instructions.

I realize that.. Again I was asking because my client asked me.. I could have "made up" an answer for him or told him an answer based on what I thought he should do, but I don't work like that. So I chose to at least make the effort to get an answer to his question.

When uploading, do I need to upload the files: captcha_debug.php, captcha_img.php or captcha_test.php? Also, am I right in thinking that the 'fonts' folder goes into the top root directory where 'includes' is?

If anyone's interested in using the Captcha feature with their Return Authorisation Request page..this is how I did it (it works great for me).

Note that the code above will configure it so that in admin when you turn off the captcha on the Contact Us page, it would also turn off the captcha on the Returns page as well. I have a feeling you would need to edit the SQL to have a separate setting (something I wasn't sure on how to do).

But if you want to make the mod case sensitive the PHP code is there for you to work with.

4. Just show your client some other forms protected by CAPTCHA and explain reasons needed. Should not be difficult to convince on the reasonableness of integrating captcha. But if client refuses, let it be.

I would like to use this contribution with ZC 1.3.8a. Only but important problem I have is that the image is not displayed. I have tried also captcha_test.php but image is missing too. I also tried to use link from source generated, like:

Browser offers to download the picture instead of displaying it. Downloaded picture is fine when jpeg set. Image viewer is complaining about corrupted header for png and gif. Have you ever seen such a behaviour ? Any idea what's wrong ?

And :: captcha-number-subject-combo-in-one-1.0

Both of them show the image fine but dont work :

You can still send an email through if there has been no validation code entered relating to what the captcha image is showing.

I tied the newer version first, uni stalled then tried to older version.

Any ideas? V1.3.7.
