Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
OK. Although I have not read every single post of this thread, I was darn close. I'm a newbie, so please be kind. I have downloaded this plugin and reviewed the readme file several times, but I cannot figure out how to install this plugin. The links in the readme file do not work for me. I've tried different browsers and same result. I know, you must think I'm an idiot. You are probably right. Can someone just point me the way on which files I need to upload to where? Sorry for such trivial request.

You might start with unzipping the files so you can read the readme.. (links don't work from inside a zip file - and you need ALL the files the read me uses so that it can be read properly)

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
I found this problem that someone else was having in the post, but he did not have enough info for anyone to help. Whenever I set ih resize images to yes as in instructions in makes my product disappear: http://zc.desertmoonleather.com/inde...=index&cPath=2 , I will leave it this way till I get replies. I looked at my debug it is here:

SUBJECT: Product Listing is BLANK
Hi everyone,
I have the weirdest issue with Image Handler 4 on Zencart 1.5. I'm pretty keen with websites (I do freelance website work), but this problem is so bizarre that I can't figure it out. Let me elaborate:
- I am making an online store demo.
- Every category product listing works fine, except one of them.
- If you click on the link above, you see that that particular category appears blank. Even worse, it seems to interrupt the code on the page, and we're left without a footer (and a whole bunch of necessary HTML, like </body> and </html>)
- However, if you go to the second page of that category, it works fine.
- Playing around with the different sort options, I am sure that this only affects this one category, only on the first page, and only when it is sorted by model #. It's so specific it's weird.
- I am 100% certain this is related to Image Handler 4, because the problem goes away if I turn off Image Handler's resize option.
My plan B is to remove the model # column from product listings, which would be inconvenient, but would work.
Anyway, I'm just hoping someone here is familiar enough with IH4 that they can actually have a hint as to what is wrong.
Thanks.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Check and see why this product is broken:
index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66_68&products_id=269
Is there something odd about the description or the image?

Not sure what post you are referring to which has this same issue, but based on the error log you've posted it seems unrelated to IH4. It appears to be some sort of sessions error.

Ajeh is right.. you need to see what is odd about the products on that page.. It's likely that this is the cause of the page not being displayed and NOT IH4 specifically.. Start by inactivating the product Ajeh pointed out.. See if the page displays normally once that product is removed.. If it does then you need to figure out what about that product is causing this to go screwy.. Try changing the descriptions, model numbers, image names etc.. One of these is contributing to the ill formed HTML..

ok I have :

only other add on is google feeder and desert noon template

The reason i was thinking it was IH is because if I go to configuration/image handler resize and switch it to no the site works fine, just have crappy pictures.
I assume you looked at my site i am going to turn it to no again so that is is at least working.
Thank you so much for getting back to me

That doesn't necessarily make IH4 the cause, it means it is illuminating an issue on your site when turned on.. It's some kind of session error based on the log you posted. No one else has ever reported a similar issue which is why I am fairly certain that IH4 is not the true source of the issue..

Ajeh,
Thanks so much. It turns out that the image file for that one item was corrupted. As much as I was able to narrow the issue down, I wouldn't have been able to figure it out in a million years.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Very nice plugin, so far everything has been working well for me except one issue - when I upload my images to my product listings, the thumbnail previews don't load and show a broken image. The images are saved and loading find on my site though. I couldn't find anything specifically in here on how to fix it but I think I read it has to do with my config file? Any ideas on how to get this working because it would make things 10x easier if I could see the thumbnails for my products.

Issues with your configure.php file have nothing to do with IH4 configuration. this file is required for Zen Cart to work and if it's set up incorrectly not only will you have issues with Zen Cart not functioning properly, but other mods (including IH4 will also not function properly). This thread is not the right place for getting assistance for this issue.. There are a ton of threads in this forum which can help you with this.. Suggest doing a little search for configure.php to find some of these threads..

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Hi,
I installed image handler 4 on a fresh v1.5.0 zen cart install. It seems to have works fine it's all working except when I onto tools->image handler4 it says the website cannot display the page, as if the page doesn't exist but I have checked my files on the server and the admin-image_handler.php file is there where it should be. Without this section working I can't uninstall it.
Any ideas what I should do?
Thanks

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
I just installed IH4 and im using v1.5, the IH4 installation was successful. But when I went to add a new categories I notice that sub directories under catalog is blank when I click on it. Before I installed IH4 this was working just fine. I really need this fix to get my site up and going already. What could of gone wrong during the installation for this to happened. Thanks in advance guys.

Ok, then let me re-ask my question: Why don't the thumbnails show up when I go to the image handler option under tools?

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
I just notice that some files are being deleted by the system on its own. I upload the /modules/IH_INSTALL and there is not file there. So I upload the files and also to all other subfolders like pages/popup_image to name one which I have upload twice already and the system deletes these .php files on it's own. This is weird can anyone give me some feedback on whats going on here.
thanks,

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Ok so I've been searching and searching and I still can't figure this out. It's not a super big deal but it's a pain..
When logged into my admin and in the Image Handler section, I can upload images fine but the thumbnails don't show (instead a broken image icon is displayed).
Everything that I can tell works fine on my site otherwise. Images that I upload through IH also get uploaded correctly to my site and display fine on my real site, just not in the admin area. The only other issue I've heard about this in this thread is someone who was having them uploaded to the wrong directory (not even showing on his main site) because of a possible config.php setting but I don't even think I've touched that file, and plus my images are loading fine on my main pages. Installation went through perfect the first time as well and everything seems to function perfect on my store except for this.... :frusty:

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Apologies in advance if this has been previously addressed. [I am a new Zenner]
I've spent at least 6 hours researching this problem -- images not showing in Admin Manager mode.
I installed Image Handler 4 a few days ago and i'm amazed... a brilliant add-on!
All images display correctly on the web site. However, when I look in Admin Manager mode (viewing/adding/changing the images for a product), all images are represented by an " image X", like the image cannot be found.
I followed instructions and after installation I replaced the "additional_images.php" from Image Handler4 with the one that comes with Zen Lightbox.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Installed...
Zen Cart 1.5 .0
Image Handler4 for v1.5.x
Zen Lightbox-v1.6.4_1.20120428
SNAF_v1_2
Logo Sidebox

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
My website is here: http://bestsewingdeals.com
I "successfully" installed IH4 but when I follow step 10 Navigate to Admin > Configuration > Images, set "IH resize images" to "yes". all the images disappear. If it is set to no, the images show as they normally would. When set to yes, if I right click and try to open the image in a new tab it brings up a server error (in Spanish,) and this is the link in the address bar:
http://bestsewingdeals.com/zen-cart/...ge.150x150.jpg
Attachment 11011
I am having the same issue in the admin section with the images not showing and right click, open image in a new tab causing the server error (also in Spanish).
bmz_cache and images folders are both set to 777. I have not made any changes to the configuration (yet) as it says it should work "out of the box" without changes.
This happened yesterday when I installed it but I was too tired to try to deal with it so I uninstalled it and spent most of today reading the entire thread. I re-installed it and watched to make sure there were no errors or files not installed, etc. I received all "green" messages upon install.
Any ideas? :frusty: Am I missing something obvious?
Thank you for any assistance in advance!
Blessings,
Krisann

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Got it!! It was the .htaccess file! I deleted it and copied the one from my previous file. Now both sides, shop and admin, are working.
In case anyone needs to change the .htaccess file here is the code that is working for me:
Code:
#
# @copyright Copyright 2003-2010 Zen Cart Development Team
# @license http://www.zen-cart.com/license/2_0.txt GNU Public License V2.0
# @version $Id: .htaccess 16111 2010-04-29 22:39:02Z drbyte $
#
# This is used with Apache WebServers
#
# The following blocks direct HTTP requests to all filetypes in this directory recursively, except certain approved exceptions
# It also prevents the ability of any scripts to run. No type of script, be it PHP, PERL or whatever, can normally be executed if ExecCGI is disabled.
# Will also prevent people from seeing what is in the dir. and any sub-directories
#
# For this to work, you must include either 'All' or at least: 'Limit' and 'Indexes' parameters to the AllowOverride configuration in your apache/conf/httpd.conf file.
# Additionally, if you want the added protection offered by the OPTIONS directive below, you'll need to add 'Options' to the AllowOverride list, if 'All' is not specified.
# Example:
#<Directory "/usr/local/apache/htdocs">
# AllowOverride Limit Options Indexes
#</Directory>
###############################
# deny *everything*
<FilesMatch ".*">
Order Allow,Deny
Deny from all
</FilesMatch>
# but now allow just *certain* necessary files:
<FilesMatch ".*\.(jpe?g|JPE?G|gif|GIF|png|PNG|swf|SWF)$" >
Order Allow,Deny
Allow from all
</FilesMatch>
IndexIgnore */*
## NOTE: If you want even greater security to prevent hackers from running scripts in this folder, uncomment the following line (if your hosting company will allow you to use OPTIONS):
# OPTIONS -Indexes -ExecCGI

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Just wanted to add something here.. It's likely the conflict you reported is from the "Additional Products Images" add-on as IH4 makes no changes to core Zen Cart image functions, and it is possible that the "Additional Products Images" makes mods to core Zen Cart functions.. Though thinking about it sideboxes disappearing sounds like a statement wasn't closed off properly causing all the code below it to fail.. Errant merge perhaps?? Just thinking out loud. What does "Additional Products Images" do anyway??

Though thinking about it sideboxes disappearing sounds like a statement wasn't closed off properly causing all the code below it to fail.. Errant merge perhaps?? Just thinking out loud. What does "Additional Products Images" do anyway??
I have no idea what it does, lol. I didn't "use" it before I decided to install IH4. I assume it allows you to add more images to a listing but I didn't try it out.
I did *not* have the issue with the disappearing sideboxes after I installed API. Immediately upon the successful install of IH4 the right sideboxes and footer were gone. I un-installed and re-installed IH4 with the same result. I removed API and it repaired the sideboxes and footer. There is something between API and IH4 making them not behave together. I don't need both anyway but in case anyone else has API installed and wants to add IH4, they will need to remove API.
The images not showing was 100% due to the .htaccess file even though it is nearly identical. If I recall correctly I had the same issue with IH3 on 1.3.9. I had to delete the copy on the server and upload a new one (with the exact same, line for line, letter for letter info) in order to get them to show. Easy fix but hard to pin down and no clear reasoning behind it .

Well the issue with the other add-on still sounds like a merge gone wrong.. and it doesn't sound like an add-on that is needed if IH4 is installed since IH4 adds additional image management options..
the .htaccess you posted is actually NOT identical to the one that come with IH4.. there is one directive missing from the code you posted that IS in the version in the downloads section.

You are correct, *this* one I copied from the downloads folder. When I had the issue with IH3 in 1.3.9, I just deleted it and uploaded a copied/pasted version (everything was identical) and it fixed it. Sorry for the confusion.

So is the issue with the broken image thumbnails on the admin site a .htaccess file issue??

I won't make this sweeping statement since I cannot replicate this issue in any of my installs. shartlesville posted that this resolved HER issue..
BTW, .htaccess "issue" means the directive she removed from her file is probably not supported by her webhost.. (hence why removing it "solved" her problem)

I tried everything listed in this thread and couldn't' get any of the thumbnails to show up in my admin, but I finally figured it out.
SOLUTION FOR ME I originally installed zencart using my hosts (Bluehost) control panel and when it installed, in both of my configure.php files somehow double slashes were added. I deleted the extra slashes in DIR_WS_CATALOG' and DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG and now it works. I had to change the permissions also to get it to save. Hopefully that helps someone.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
I just thought of one other question though: Is it possible to easily add a suffix to all of my image names, maybe by running a sql patch or something? I want to add some keywords and didn't think about it before uploading all of my images...what would be the easiest way to do this?

Thanks for sharing your fix. This is a Zen Cart configuration issue and not an IH4 "issue".. This is why it's always better to NOT use your hosts "auto-installer".

Find a file re-naming program, rename your images, delete the old images form your site, then upload the new files.. but afterwards you will need to run a SQL patch to update the products table to point your product to the new image names.. This isn't related to IH4 support so if you need to open a longer discussion on this then you need to start a new thread and hopefully other community members can weigh in..

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
I used the thread's search function but didn't see my problem.
I'm aware of the product red/green on/off bug caused by IH4 and applied the fix for that.
However, I am experiencing the same problem with my Specials in admin: red/green on/off button does not work.
Fresh 1.5 ZC install with IH4 yesterday on my main site: prommart com
I have another fresh 1.5 cart without IH4 and the Specials on/off button works there, so I suspect IH4 for now.
Anyone experienced the problem with the Specials button and know of the fix? Thanks.
EDIT: Just noticed the same Specials button problem on my sister's 1.5 site with IH4

Similar issue.. different cause.. The issue with the product red/green on/off required a fix to a file that IH4 modifies (admin/includes/modules/category_product_listing.php).. The issue you are experiencing with specials is NOT caused by IH4 as IH4 makes NO modifications to the specials listing at all..

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Thanks.
Hmmm, since I have Specials problem on two 1.5 sites I wonder what it is. Do you know if anyone else has experienced it in 1.5?
Only 1.5 site I have that Specials button works is the one without IH4.

I wish I could help.. I'm not entirely sure what the issue might be either.. I can say it is NOT caused by IH4 or related to the IH4 install.. The fact that you are having issue with sites that happen to have IH4 installed is merely a coincidence.. Try posting a new thread in the forum and see if the community has some feedback for you on this..

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Thanks. You're probably right: it isn't IH4. I just looked at two more of my 1.5 sites with IH4 and the Specials on/off button works.
I'm now suspecting the very latest version of Ultimate SEO I just installed on my main site. The other sites have a slightly earlier version of Ultimate, so the latest on my main site I think is the difference. I'll see. But not sure how or why it would affect the Specials button in admin.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Hello All!
I had a problem with the Uninstaller, similar to one that has already been solved here, but if the actual solution got posted I could not find it.
Here is the problem:
http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...34#post1118334
And here is evidence of a solution:
http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...37#post1118837
There is talk of mysterious files that got sent, but I was hoping Nicol is still out there so she could explain the solution in a way that I could replicate?
Anyway, here is why I was trying to Uninstall. Maybe a solution to this would be better:
I staged a client's site (ZC 1.5) on one server, then moved it to another. I installed the latest IH4 on the staging site, it appears to be working fine.
After moving to the new server, I added a ton of goodies (Ceon URI, Zen Lightbox, EZ Pages Meta, etc), but nothing, save Lightbox, that should have interfered (I used the IH friendly file for Lightbox).
Somewhere along the line IH quit working. I discovered while testing lightbox by adding a new product with 5 or 6 big images (I figured IH would resize).
I have now spent hours reading and rereading install procedures, trying to find common files and combing the forum.
Eventually I decided it must be something unique to the site that occurs during the magic installation. So I tried to uninstall then reinstall. Upon clicking IH Uninstall, I received almost the exact same message Gruntre69 received (see above link): rollback not completed, files not deleted.
I am desperate! This prob is my own creation, not IH. I just love this mod and want to get it working. Please don't flame me if it is something simple!
If anyone wants the URL, please pm me.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Just manually remove the IH4 files, re-load IH4 and run the auto-installer.. I'm getting ready to do just that for a site I inherited from another designer because I really don't have the time or interest in knowing what went wrong. I know that re-doing the install will fix it.. I am suggesting the same for you..

Just re-did the install for said client.. Too less than 1 minute and all is well now.. Dunno what sent wrong, but it probably doesn't matter.. Feznizzle, I suggest you just re-do the install..

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
@Feznizzle
Still around but not that active because of other commitments.
In general there is an issue with the installer and some servers. The issue is if the installer cannot create the folders needed or cannot move/rename files to complete the installation due to server permissions. I have sent a couple of people a version of IH that overcomes this by relying on the user to carry out these actions themselves ( more like IH used to be installed ) . It is possible that your first server did not have this issue and the second did.
I would follow the advice of Diva. If you run into problems with the install, which is possible if your second server is preventing certain actions, then post again.

I have another site I'm doing the same way, staging then moving to new server (IH already integrated working great, moving to new vps thru same host I'm having the prob with). I have root access to all the servers involved. If you happen to know what process needs to be enabled, I'd like to know so I could just flip the switch and turn it on.
I'm going to do what Diva suggested, but I suspect that if IH doesn't already have the needed privileges to uninstall, it will also not be able to install.
Diva, can't I just rename folders and drop the fresh install on the ftp, then run the install? Or do I really have to manually search/delete the early files?
Thanks for the help!
-
Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
It uses the php functions
mkdir
copy
rename
unlink
some, or all, of those may be disabled on your server.

Sure, you could but WHY??? it took me LITERALLY all of 15 minutes to delete the old folders/files, login to my client's site admin, re-upload a fresh copy of IH4, click an admin link to re-run the install.. DONE.. no stray old files, IH4 works again, and I went to bed (right after posting my results on this support thread)..
I did this all RIGHT after my first response to your post last night at 10:18 PM. I wrote my second post at 10:31 PM when I was done..
The ONLY thing I did slightly "off-book" was to copy the includes/modules/MY_TEMPLATE/additional_images.php file to the includes/modules/IH_INSTALL folder so that I did not have to replace the additional_images.php file from my lightbox add-on after the IH4 re-install. (I hope that last part makes sense??)
I build client sites in "Staging" area on my own hosting account, then move it to the client's webserver. What I found is that for SOME servers/hosts IH4 needs to be re-installed when I make the transfer.. It takes no time to do and I'd rather just get it done than spend any time investigating why.. I'd rather just solve the problem and move on.. I know re-installing works, and when I ever find some real free time to mess around to find out why this is I MAY look into the why..

When you are right, you are right! haha I was just being lazy.
Well, I did as suggested and deleted/reloaded files, ran the install, ended up with a batch of errors. Now I'm off to adjust permissions on the server per Nick's update. Will report back.

Wanted to add this.. Historic versions of IH (before the auto-installer version) made us of the mkdir function too (that's how it created the bmz_cache folders)
-
Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Thanks Diva and Nick, I got it to work.
Anybody else who encounters this problem can fix it by asking your host to enable the needed functions. If you have root access, you can do it yourself.
If you have WHM, go to Service Configuration >> PHP Configuration Editor >> Advanced Mode. Under Safe Mode disable_functions, just remove the banned services that you need and save!
Anyway, thanks again. Love this mod!

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
currently backing up my database, and perhaps this is a dumb question regardless, but will uninstalling image handler 4 delete all of the products associated with it? going to attempt to reinstall it in an attempt to get rid of an annoying error that's popping up: "No Image Handler information found".. store is not currently letting me add new images for products, although the store's current items all still appear to have working images... store is located here:
www.cultivatedr e e f.com
i'm running v150. from what i've gathered in this marathon thread, image handler likes to uninstall itself every once in a while...
thanks in advance
-
Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
backed up the following files before reinstalling:
- /YOUR_ADMIN/includes/modules/category_product_listing.php
- /includes/modules/pages/popup_image/header_php.php
- /includes/modules/pages/popup_image_additional/header_php.php
- /includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE/additional_images.php
- /includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE/main_product_image.php
- /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/popup_image_additional/tpl_main_page.php
seems to be working okay, older files are still in place... will find out if the reinstall is missing any customizations in due time (someone else previously had control over the store/files).. thanks

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Just not working
Fairly new to this game but got loads of Joomla back end experience. A new Zencart with cambridge_pro template (which shouldn't matter?).
I have installed as per readme, no errors, enabled in Config_Images.
When I move the mouse around the site, in and out of different categories, yet I still only get the finger and no magnified image!
Under Tools_Image Hander I can select each product and the images for the larger size are bigger.
It is just not reflected on the site.
Cheers for any info.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Hello
I know i am being lazy, but will Image handler work if the host does not allow .htaccess file (or any file that begin with special characters ).
Tried many things but IH 4 will not install on ZenCart 1.5, the only thing remining to try is .htaccess file upload which can not be done with the current host
Thanks

Simple answer.. change hosts.. Zen Cart v1.5 has .htaccess files all over and they are there for a reason.. IH4 is no exception..

Hello.
I can't get this plugin to work. When i change the name of the YOUR ADMIN folder and upload it, my page when i try to access admin area is blank with the message to reload and try again.
I added one and one file to narrow it down, and when I add config.image_handler.php it stops working.
So my admin area works untill i add config.image_handler.php...

Just signed up for GoDaddy for 1 month to see if this works on it.
Server has GD lib v2.0.34
Lightbox is also installed and working on this Zencart 1.5.0
The steps i took:
- downloaded fresh zip file if IH4
- changed YOUR_ADMIN to my admin folder name. EVERYTHING else is left as it it
- FTP IH4 files
- logged in to admin and IH4 is successfully installed
- Replace the additional_images.php with the lightbox version
- Changed Admin-Configuration-Images-set "IH resize images" to "yes". EVERYTHING else is left as it it
- Edited a product and uploaded the image by clicking save (the uploaded image is 550x41)
- this what i get : and there is no medium and large image in product listing in front end also
Attachment 11159
I must be NOT doing something very basic that need to be done. If 1000s of people are using it , it must work.
Can anyone point out the obvious thing i am missing here.
Thanks

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
In IH4 header_php.php files i found out a section which was commented out and a note that :
//End Image Handler changes 2 of 2 (this entire section is commented out for Image Handler 3)
though i have never installed IH3 (or IH2 or any other version of IH).
Does this section need to be there and NOT commented out ?
Or is there any other problem with my installation or procedure ?
other core files seem untouched to me comparing with the backup, barring changes made by IH4 to the core files
Thanks

@kjetilhansen
What language is your admin in? If it is not English please read through this thread to see the solution to installing in another language. Or put the admin into English and install and then revert to the other language.
If your admin is in English please ignore this comment.

@relish
It is kind of hard for people to comment for a couple of reasons. Firstly, there is an element of not-sure because your site is doing something strange. Secondly, we can't see the site. If you have some temporary godaddy hosting then post the url so people can look at the site. If you don't want to do that then at least explain what you mean by
Quote:
there is no medium and large image in product listing in front end also
Is there an image that is not being found? By which I probably mean what is the src of the image that is not being found? That information is going to help. Also I would read the stuff about mis-configured configure.php files in this and other threads and see if that applies.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
I have image handler 4 installed on zen cart 1.5.0
In the bmz_cache sub-folders I noticed a majority of the image files have file permissions set at 666. Is there any reason the permissions should not be set to 644?

SEO friendly file names?
Hello, I am currently using image handler 4 and am concerned that it renames my files in a way that keep them from showing up in google image searches. Is there any way to keep the clean file names I created as well as title tags and alt tags?
Thank you.

Yep.. Re-Write the code that manages the image naming..

No I do not have any insight to offer.. it's a significant code change, and you may want to consider hiring someone to make the change for you if no one here can offer any insight..

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Honestly, if you are needing pointers then this may not be the project to take on. The way that IH stores images is a 'caching' type system and changing the naming conventions is problematic because that approach is deep down and inherent in the structure of IH. There are other image handler systems that do not use this caching type approach.

I have a great programmer helping me so I'll bring the issue to him. But just in case, what other image handler would you would recommend?

While the filenames of the images do contribute to their inclusion in search results for image searches on Google and other search engines, the evidence from performing these searches indicates that context is more important. Make sure that the product the image is on has a good name and a good, valuable, relevant description, and the images should be indexed appropriately.

So with regards to Image Handler and file naming it will require a fairly substantial change to the way it is architected to change the file naming function.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
not consider my previous post, thanks all for this great plugin : ) works well on 1.5.1

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Suggestion for the description of the plugin on the plugin's page:
"It is strongly suggested that if you are NEW to Zen Cart and web development that you read these threads BEFORE you install Image Handler 4."
That thread is over 700 pages long! :P I think that is a bit of a large task for someone who might want to install the plugin. I think what you mean is that you suggest someone reads those two posts, right?
And, a link to this version 4 thread would be a convenience most would appreciate.
If this is tested to work with 1.51, can the plugin page say so?
Thanks!

We wrote EXACTLY what we intended to write and included links to two very specific posts.. NOT an entire thread, but two specific posts.. There is no need to change tis in the readme at all..
As for a link to IH4.. Well we would have loved to, but at the time the support thread was created, IH4 hadn't been approved by the admin.. Hence no link.. Can't edit posts after a certain period of time, and well.... in the big picture... this has not really proven to be a big deal.. So I've given it no further thought..
You'll have to ask the admins about your last suggestion... I'm a tad busy and haven't had a chance to test with 1.5.1.. So I won't have time to take on finding out if this is doable.. Now if someone else verifies v1.5.1 compatibility and seeks out from the admins how to update this, and the admins decide to update the plugin to reflect this then this could happen..

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help.
I am using Image Handler 4 and Zen Lightbox. Up until recently Image Handler 4 worked fine however, now when I upload images it seems to fail to create medium and large images correctly. Therfore my product info pages have no image displayed. I have discovered that the product info pages are looking for an image to be in images/medium/category/image_name_MED.jpg. Unfortunately the file doesn't get created in this location, hence wy it's not displayed. Has anyone seen this behaviour before and could therefore point me in the right direction for a fix?
I am using Zen Cart v1.5
A link to a product page in question is here
Would be very grateful for any help anyone can give
Many thanks

The issue you are having is not and IH4 bug (thoerwise others would have reported the same) Sounds to me like you may have installed another add-on that modifies some of the same files modified by IH4.. No suggestion other than try re-installing both IH4 and ZLB. Out the box both work when properly installed..

Thanks DivaVocals, I'll try a reinstall to see if that fixes it.

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
Hi all,
I'm having a problem with the watermarks appearing on the medium and large images. The files are there and they are set to yes in the admin but they just don't show. I last had a version of 1.3.9 installed with ih2, all worked as it should so I don't know what i'm doing wrong. Details Below:
Zencart v1.5.1 fresh install - no ih2 settings was a clean db
MySQL 5.1.65-cll
PHP 5.3.13
GD Enabled - bundled 2.0.34
imageMagik Enabled - 6.5.4-7
Other Addons: Invoice/Worldpay/Google Merchant Feeder
BMZ_Cache & Images folders+files all set to CHMOD 755
Followed the advanced instructions in the readme, got a success message in admin.
No Lightboxes
Admin settings:
Product Info - Image Medium Suffix _MED
Product Info - Image Large Suffix _LRG
IH resize images no
IH small images filetype no_change
IH small images background 255:255:255
IH small images compression quality 85
IH small images watermark no
IH small images zoom on hover no
IH small images zoom on hover size Medium
IH medium images filetype no_change

IH large images filetype no_change
IH large images background 255:255:255

IH watermark gravity Center
Example URL:

Everything else seems to work pretty much picture perfect. Even under the 'preview' tab in the admin settings the watermark is there.
Thanks in advance for any pointers!

problem solved!
admin/includes/init_includes/init_image_handler.php
Replace
Code:
$sql = "SELECT configuration_group_id FROM ".TABLE_CONFIGURATION_GROUP." WHERE configuration_group_title='".BOX_CONFIGURATION_IMAGES."' LIMIT 1";
$result = $db->Execute($sql);
$im_configuration_id = $result->fields['configuration_group_id'];

$result = $db->Execute($sql);
$im_configuration_id = $result->fields['configuration_group_id'];

Finally figured this out by reading the resize images description in admin. In IH2 (where I was comparing settings) resize could be set to off whilst watermarking still worked. Whereas in IH4 nothing works unless this setting is on. Is there any point installing this mod with this setting off?
Great mod, sorry if my question seemed a bit stupid. Feeling a little silly now for asking it :lookaroun

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
And I need to chime in that this is specific to your setup.. For most everyone else the code in IH4 works as is without needing to modify the auto-installer..

Yeah.. for folks who want that silly image hover feature.. (I personally dislike the image hover, but clients love this feature)

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
I had the same problem as many others with images not uploading to the server and of course not displaying in the store. But finally tracked the problem down. My host changed the document root path to my site and it wrecked havoc on the images. So with the new path I inserted into both configure.php files and all is back to normal. Hope this helps someone.

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
Hello there, I've read through the instructions, the usage and the configuration files - the question I have is I'm in the process of upgrading my shop - from 1.3.0.2 to 1.5. I'm opting to do a complete rebuild because too many things have changed, though I intend to use my existing database. I understand that IH4 is totally different from IH2 which is why I am concerned that something may go strange with the install since I'll be using my existing database.
Thanks in advance for your help and guidance
-
Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
Well, it is not totally different. There are some significant changes though.
The only things that are stored in the database are the settings that IH uses ( set in configuration>>images ). You will probably want to go through all of those anyway and have a look at some of the new options.
There shouldn't be any problems.

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
This is an "error" that the Error Console of Web Developer (a Firefox plugin) shows up related to IH4.
The error is triggered by the fact that the jscript_imagehover.js that is auto-loaded in the head section, spits out <div id="trailimageid"></div> (where I am not sure!) in the head: not allowed, as explained in the link helpfully provided in the error message.
So, instead of using the autoload, I renamed it ih4_jscript_imagehover.js and put this in the tpl_main_page.php after the body tag
PHP Code:
<body id="<?php echo $body_id . 'Body'; ?>"<?php if($zv_onload !='') echo ' onload="'.$zv_onload.'"'; ?>>
<script type="text/javascript" src="includes/templates/MYTEMPLATE/jscript/ih4_jscript_imagehover.js"></script>
IH4 still works, the error has gone and the site is 200% faster (not).
Now some geek can explain the pointlessness of all this.
-
Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
Yes, you are right.
The image hover is based on a VERY old bit of javascript code. I think I am right in thinking that most of the people who have worked on IH at various times think that the hover effect is horrible and so have not paid it much attention. Another solution would be to not use the image hover feature at all and just not load this javascript at all.
Or you could just ignore the 'error'.
With jQuery being promised as standard on a future version of Zen I guess it is likely that all this will get re-written at some point ...

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
Hi all,
I've searched this thread, however without succes :) After installing IH4 I get the warning "WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again." on the admin page, it just completely crashes :). I know the problem is somewhere in the .htaccess file. I haven't edited it yet. Changing permissions doesn't work. When I remove the .htaccess I can use the admin page again, but IH sais that it misses files. Does anyone have experience with this same error, or even better does anyone know how to fix it? :)
Thanks in advance!

Blank page = error.. You need to look at your error logs and see what that error log says is the issue.. (which is not likely to be the .htaccess file)
