Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Just for reference, I ended up choosing to use a custom image size, when I checked the css file, the actual size of the slider (As far as I can tell) reads:
width:550px;height:250px
I scanned the rest of the thread and couldn't see it so thought I would post, unless i have missed something (Very possible!) then maybe the readme txt could do with an update next time round?
Anyway,
Thanks again Anne! Your work is very much appreciated.

(I made my slider images too large and for a while there got a bit confused......)
I began reading this thread to see what was going on (I know it was plain common sense that was needed in the end, I should have just read the code for the actual size of the slider first or even just a few lines further in the instructions LOL!) anyway I got up to about page 30 or so in this thread before thinking I should really read on a little more in the text file then I realize there is a minor typo in the text readme file (Probably left over from an update or something.):
A. Create your images for the slideshow. The demo slideshow image dimensions are 740 pixels by 430 pixels.
Hah! if only I bothered to read a few lines further LOL!
default width 700px height 250px

Anyway, rather than read the whole thread to the end just to see if this has been posted, I thought I would save a little time, post it here and offer A GREAT BIG THANK YOU!! to Anne, honestly, reading through this thread made me so angry time and time again.
A person gives up their time and puts in amazing effort to create something of such excellent quality, then gives it away for FREE and then offers support for FREE just to help people and honestly, some people are just plain lazy not to mention rude with their posts. I want, I want, but I just want.............. unbelievable, just PLEASE read the instructions like I didnt. :D
Anne I have to say your approach to zen cart support in order to support your business is absolutely first class, if anyone is wondering the best way to offer free products and help people (As well as generating interest in their services of course.) Then just look at how Anne has put the time and effort in here to set up, and on top of that, what a lovely lady, so polite and helpful in her posts no matter what the time wasting question may be!
Anne, in my opinion, you have nailed it! :thumbsup: Thank you. Thanks to the others involved with this great cart package! & Thanks again!
I will be donating when business begins to flow once more!
Take it easy,
Dave
Thank you so much for your kind words ;-) I am happy that you are using the template for your site.
Thanks,

This template is on my list for a future update. It is hard to say when I will have the time to do the update, but I do have a list of items to be updated on this template.

This does not sound like a template related problem. Can you be more specific about the problem?

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
41 pages of postings (a few hours reading), most of their questions answered in install instructions (Read the instructions!!).
Some very patient answers for some that did not deserve patience (yes Linux, you!). Had fun figuring out a few bits. I left out a comma somewhere and blanked the entire cart :-( . (Note to self, 'BACK IT UP').
I've managed to get your template working with Romanian as default language.
(Note to self, 'BACK IT UP').
Had to shorten a few translations to avoid wrapping.
Only have 3 banners on site 'Zen' 'Picaflor Azul' (you may have heard of that one) and my hosting company, the companies who I am indebted to for their help.
(Note to self, 'BACK IT UP').
I do have a question (or 2).
The files 'tpl_search_header.php' and 'tpl_search.php' in folder /includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/sideboxes specify 'search.jpg' for the search button.
I would like to be able to choose seperate images for English and Romanian, but as the files are in the 'template/sideboxes' folder and not the language folder, I'm not sure how to override them. Is this a template question?
It would be nice if I could do the same for the word 'item(s)' which appears in
'/includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/common'.
I await your response with bated breath oh great Zenner.
Two more things......
A thousand thanks for your template, and
(Note to self 'BACK IT UP', and stop using brackets!)

Lol ;-) If you download the Sheffield Blue template package and then upload the includes/templates/sheffield_blue/sideboxes/tpl_search.php and includes/templates/sheffield_blue/sideboxes/tpl_search_header.php files to your includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/sideboxes folder, you will be able to use multi lanugage buttons. I have this on the list of things to fix in a future template update.
To make the word "item(s)" multi-language, you can create a constant for the text and add the definition to the includes/languages/your language/aberdeen_neutral/header.php file. Thank you for pointing this out. I will include this change in future template updates. You would add this code in place of the "item(s)" text in the includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/common/tpl_header.php file.
Code:
<?php echo CART_TITLE_ITEMS; ?>
Then in the includes/languages/your language/aberdeen_neutral/header.php add this:
Code:
define('CART_TITLE_ITEMS', 'item(s)');
Thanks,
Anne

Progress report:
Copied files as described.
Result:
Search text box reduced to half length
Search button disappears and is replaced with word 'search' or Romanian alternative.
:no:
Compared old and new files and saw that old had
Code:
style="width: 100px"
Added this piece of code and search text box regained it's size.
Looking at code, saw
Code:
(BUTTON_IMAGE_SEARCH_HEADER,HEADER_SEARCH_BUTTON)
Did a text search in the Aberdeen zip and the Sheffield zips for
BUTTON_IMAGE_SEARCH_HEADER
and
HEADER_SEARCH_BUTTON
After some head scratching, realised that I needed to define HEADER_SEARCH_BUTTON in /includes/languages/romanian/button_names.php
and /includes/languages/english/button_names.php
Added:
define('BUTTON_IMAGE_SEARCH_HEADER', 'button_search_header.gif');
Added new button 'button_search_header.gif'
Still no image for button. :frusty:
Had a brainwave, (previously adding second and third images for products helped) renamed 'button_search_header.gif' to 'button_searchheader.gif' and changed the ref in button_names.php
Hallelujah!! I have a button, but wait it is not sitting in line with search box. (pass the hemlock please)
Ok, started again so that the refs all call
BUTTON_IMAGE_SEARCH
SEARCH_BUTTON
And button_search.gif
(trying to remember the exact changes, but it was 3am)
Button and search box appear but positioning is off.
I am a little stumped now.
I did notice that there was another difference in the class names
A.N. = class="header-search-box"
S.B. = class="search-header-box"
Is this important?
A reminder if you need to look, site is http://www.micaanglie.ro
I am really enjoying my first foray into PHP and CSS, I only knew some HTML until I started with your template.
One more thing. Thank God I Made BACKUPS :smile:
Shaun the zenfully challenged.
-
Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Started from scratch (backup)
copied 'search.jpg' from /includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/images to language buttons folders (/includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/buttons/romanian)
and renamed to 'button_header_search.jpg'
added
Code:
define('BUTTON_IMAGE_HEADER_SEARCH', 'button_header_search.jpg');
to both languages (/includes/languages/...../button_names.php)
Before uploading from sheffield_blue template I changed code in 'tpl_search.php' line 21
from
Code:
zen_image_submit(BUTTON_IMAGE_SEARCH_HEADER,HEADER_SEARCH_BUTTON);
to
Code:
zen_image_submit(BUTTON_IMAGE_HEADER_SEARCH,HEADER_SEARCH_BUTTON);
and changed code in 'tpl_search_header.php' line 19
from
Code:
class="search-header-box"..................................... zen_image_submit (BUTTON_IMAGE_SEARCH_HEADER,HEADER_SEARCH_BUTTON);
to
Code:
class="header-search-box" ..................................... zen_image_submit (BUTTON_IMAGE_HEADER_SEARCH,HEADER_SEARCH_BUTTON);
First change to class brings the border back to the search box.
:D (I feel almost clever)
Almost there, compared to the demo on your site I have 1 minor difference:
The search text box is aligned lower than the search button image.
Any ideas?
I do hope this is of use to someone else.
Shaun the not so zenfully challenged any more.

I am sorry about that! You also need to copy the:
includes/languages/english/sheffield_blue/button_names.php
and add your button button_search_header.png in english and romanian.
If the class used in the sideboxes/tpl_search_header.php file is different, then you should change it to the class used in the Andover Modern template so the css styles will still apply.
Thanks,
Anne

You can isolate the search box to adjust positioning by using the class .header-search-box in the stylesheet.css file.

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Hi there;
I was wondering if you could help me out.
I seem to have disabled my go to checkout button and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to put it back. (yes I'm an idiot)
I've looked at the coding in /public_html/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_shopping_cart_default.php and nothing is commented out :
<!--bof shopping cart buttons-->
<div class="buttonRow forward"><?php echo '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_CHECKOUT_SHIPPING, '', 'SSL') . '">' . zen_image_button(BUTTON_IMAGE_CHECKOUT, BUTTON_CHECKOUT_ALT) . '</a>'; ?></div>
<div class="buttonRow back"><?php echo zen_back_link() . zen_image_button(BUTTON_IMAGE_CONTINUE_SHOPPING, BUTTON_CONTINUE_SHOPPING_ALT) . '</a>'; ?></div>
<?php
// show update cart button
if (SHOW_SHOPPING_CART_UPDATE == 2 or SHOW_SHOPPING_CART_UPDATE == 3) {
?>
<div class="buttonRow back"><?php echo zen_image_submit(ICON_IMAGE_UPDATE, ICON_UPDATE_ALT); ?></div>
<?php
} else { // don't show update button below cart
?>
<?php
} // show update button
?>
<!--eof shopping cart buttons-->
Also gone to /public_html/includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/header.php Checkout is there :
define('HEADER_TITLE_CHECKOUT', 'Checkout');
Also checked in Admin/Config/MyStore and Display Cart after adding Product is set to true
Could you possibly point me in the right direction for finding my lost button?
Thanks,
KJ

No, you need to uninstall the actual module files. Just restoring your backup prior to the module installation should do it.
Thanks,
Anne

Hi, Thank you for the template which I am intend to use in my site.
My problem is that I've been trying to put a paypal logo between the links in the footer and the copyright line and have not been able to do it. When I try it gets positioned in a different place, other than where I want it.
If you look at the attached image, it is below the 'Important Links' link. And where it says 'HERE' is where I actually want it to go. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.Attachment 12087

You need to add your code to the incldues/templates/aberdeen_neutral/common/tpl_footer.php file and you can use css to position it.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Thank you. That's precisely where I added it. I tried several positions but my problem was that I could not find the exact place where to add it so it would fall in the middle above the copyright line.
The last place I tried was under: "<!--eof-navigation display -->" and it was when it fell under the 'Important Links' link.
But, since I was unable to figure out how to position it where I wanted, I decided to put the logo on a sidebar. Thank you.

One more question: How can I hide or delete the little 'fLike' and 'Tweet' icons located under the product description? I would like to leave just the little 'Share' icon for now.

You can edit the includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/templates/tpl_main_page.php file. You may also be able to just add a display:none; to the elements in the stylesheet.css file.
Thanks,
Anne

Sorry, I followed the path above and there is not a 'tpl_main_page.php file' at the end of the path. See attached image.

The text on the sideboxes looks centered (image1).
Would it be possible to move the text all the way to the left? (image 2)

You can achieve this with css. I would recommend using firefox and the web developer tools to find which line of which file you need to edit.

Could you tell me what font was used? I have gone through all mine and can't seem to find a match.

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Hi Anne;
I'm sorry to bother you and this question may have been answered before, but I've gone buggy eyed trying to find both in the forum and on google search.
Here's what I did .... I started out adding a new link from the information sidebox to a new page. Got that done and the link shows in the box, but when I click the link, the page is blank. The new page is in both places, the ezpages in Admin and also in the database. And I can't figure out how to fix this. Here is a link to my site www.bride-azzled.com
Also, I semi broke the More Information sidebox. Everything was fine, but I wanted to have the actual page name instead of page 2 extra show in the browser tab and when scrolled over the link in the sidebox. I got the scroll over part to work. But noticed in the sidebox that the links now all said BOX_INFORMATION etc. Got that fixed. But now am having same issue of when click the link, the page is blank and the footer is now missing.
Help? Again, sorry if this has been answered before and really do appreciate all that you do with your templates.
Big Hug,
Karen

Ok. A little rest and some food, and I solved my new link from the Information sidebox. I click the link for Free Delivery Areas and the page shows now.
Yippie.
But still stuck on the links from More Information, or in my case, Help Center sidebox. Question ... I have renamed all the Page 2, 3 etc up to Page 6.
In Admin / Define Page Status, the defines for pages 2 and up are still there. Do I need to change these names? If so, where would I do that?
I tried using the sql patch in one of your tutorials, and made the define for Choose Your Size Status, set it to #1 but when click link from site, the page is still blank.
I'll keep playing. I'll either fix it or break my site trying :blush:

I would recommend looking at the tutorial for how to add more define pages--you can find it by doing a search on the FAQ's section here.

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
I am having a very strange issue.
I will try to explain but please forgive my ty peing as I have ALS and my typing is not the best :)
here is a link to a cutomer's product
http://www.rsessentials.com/personal...l#.UdDspjsm6b4
please note UNDER the main image and BEFORE the Additional Images you will see a link to:
- New Products -
No idea where this came from.
Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of it?
I have used developer tool kit, Fire fox Developers thing-n-a-bob (no help)
I have looked at tpl_product_info_display.php - language files... Pretty much everything that I could think of.
Thanks for any help

This is not a problem with the template. It looks like this cart has been heavily modified. I would look to the modules you have added to find the culprit. I would also check your tpl_product_info_display.php file.

It's just a bandaid until you can remove the link, but you could hide the text by adding this to your stylesheet:
#productAdditionalImages a{color:#fff;}

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Hello,
Has anyone experienced this that when you change the text on the home page through the define pages editor, the slide images stop displaying? My under-construction site is www.c o r k p e o p l e.co.uk and since the problem first appeared, I have made sure I edit using plain text editor only. Yet even then, the images disappear. If I reinstate the original define_main_page.php, the images duly reappear in the slides.

If you read the readme.html file included in the template package, you will see that you need to use the plain text editor when you edit the define_main_page.php file as it contains php code.

The php code at the top of the file does not look the same as the file included in the template package. You need to use a plain text editor like notepad++

It sounds like you have not uploaded the template files to the correct place on your server. The entire includes directory of the template needs to go in the root of your zen cart.

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Hello Anne,
Thanks for the help so far.
I've got another question please. How do I change the font colour of the links in the side boxes and do you know why there is a colour difference in the boxes at www.c o r k p e o p l e.co.uk? I've used the same colour on the images and in the stylesheet.
Thank you
Oliver

You can edit the stylesheet.css file line 5. If you are going to be making css changes to the template I would recommend using firefox and installing the web developer tools or firebug. They will tell you the exact line of which file you need to edit.
Use #c5a982 for the sidebox content.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
I like the template. Thank You.
I have been trying to customize and have noticed that the link in the top navigation bar? for contact us is not right. HEADER_TITLE_CONTACT_US instead of just Contact Us. I have just installed a new logo and edited the header. I may have changed something inadvertently.
I also notice that text formatting for example Capital letters and returns does not work when entered in ez pages editor.
I apologize if these are duplicate issues but I have searched for hours and have not found a solution.

You removed the constant for the header contact us text. I would recommend re-uploading the includes/languages/english/aberdeen_neutral/header.php file from the template package.
I do not understand this, can you be more specific?

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Thanks for the reply. I will reload that file
You are right. My comments did not make sense. What I meant was...when using the define pages editor the text does not come through with formatting (returns). Where I edited the tag line it only shows lower case text. I also found a link that is displaying differently in a sidebox. unsubscribe newsletter link.

There is a text-transform:lowercase; in the stylesheet on the tagline.
If you want line breaks in your define pages, you need to use a <br /> tag. This is not template specific.

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Hmmm, after reinstalling zencart with this template, I can't find out how to change the browser title. All the guidance refers me to the meta_tags.php file but I already changed that and besides, my browser tabs don't say Zencart but Aberdeen Neutral. I'm stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
There is a problem in the Aberdeen Neutral version i downloaded in tpl_header.php (line: 101) there are two php tags which are not properly opened i.e. (<?) which display the code rather than the actual value it should be (<?php). Other stuff worked properly and i am loving it. Thanks for the upload :).

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
On the column list products display page, the product price appears below the image and has no css controlling it other than
.centerBoxContentsProducts centeredContent
On what page can I insert some css to allow control over the product price?

You need to edit includes/modules/override/product_listing.php

Re: Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread
Hi Guys:
I am having a problem with the slideshow with Aberdeen Neutral also. This is on a test site that I plan to go "live" with v153 as soon as I can. The difficulty is that the slides are vertical instead of horizontal. I took a look here:
HTML Code:
includes/languages/english/html_includes/aberdeen_neutral/define_main_page.php
and couldn't see any problem.
Then I looked here:
HTML Code:
includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/css/stylesheet.css
and although it was more difficult for me to see, I didn't see anything wrong. I could see that the code started at line 197.
Here is the test site: http://www.petluxuryboutique.com/pet...php?main_page=
The "live site" is up and running fine and looks good. I even did a comparison and still couldn't find the problem:
http://www.petluxuryboutique.com
Thanks in advance. As usual, any help is appreciated.

It looks like the slide show js is not being called. Be sure you have the file uploaded in includes/modules/pages/index/jscript_easySlider.php
