Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Good stuff, Shane! Glad to see you do indeed have a funny bone... I was a bit concerned after I wrote that poem about your list. It seemed to have fallen flat, I could hear crickets chirping but no chuckles. Felt rather sheepish about it.
For all my rubs, I've find brits to be a fun lot. I owe two of my wilder drinking stories to you guys. One was in Jamaica with a bunch of drunk British sailors on leave... but that one is too raunchy for this thread.
The other was in the old party district of Atlanta called Buckhead. We had closed most of the clubs down, my friends and I were unwilling to call it a night. We were sitting at the bar in an Irish pub when a group of English businessmen sat down at a table behind us.
They were also displeased that all the clubs were shutting down so early. Somehow our groups got talking and drinking together. At some point they decided to teach us an old pub song. So we played along...
I cannot for the life of me remember the words (I was completely soused) but it was hilarious, sung in verses and there was a routine with each verse (eg, waiving your hands above your head, kneeling down to pray, etc). As we learned a new verse, then we would repeat the last verses all the way back to the beginning.
Anyway, we were having a great time and our routine began to draw a crowd. When we arrived at the last verse, all the Brits yanked their pants down around their ankles!!!
Naturally we did too and sang our way all the way back to the beginning of the song with our pants down!
The whole place was roaring with laughter. The proprietor bought us all a round and begged us to come back and do it again when he had more patrons!
Anyway, I was just poking fun at the mother land. Present company excepted, I like the English. :D
Seriously though, I don't care what they say, you're alright in my book Shane!
But you still have a small willy! :P

To test this, I suggest copying the IH2 files from the "/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE" folders to the "classic" template folder, and switching to the classic template.. If everything works then it is indeed an issue with your template, and if it's a TM template it's gonna be difficult to say what the fix is, since it would require knowing what they hacked out..
Hi
I went through the whole process to reinstall IH2, no luck. I also did what you suggested and switched to the classic template but it still doesn't work :( What should I do next?

All my puters are macs, so I'll be using FileMerge. I have NEVER tried to do anything like this, but I'm sure I can figure it out.
One really dumb question b4 I set about this project.... when you say "compare the modules files to the store files, and merge the changes" I assume that means:
- Find any files in the mod that already exist in my store.
- Find any content in the Mod file that does not exist in my store file.
- Copy the Mod file extra info into the store file.
Hate to be thick, just want to be sure what I'm doing.
there is a great mac proggie---I use mac first pc 2nd...lol
it is by barebones and is called textwrangler. free and easy to use too. and works for OSx+---i have an older OS X mine is 10.3.9 and it works beautifully to find the differences and insert the things needed.
but still work off a duplicate...you already know that

there are many templates...by template monster and another place that I can never remember their name that have their own java stuff throughout the files and they interfere with not only ih2 but lightbox too...
you either have one or the other sometimes.
what is the template you are using?
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Ok ive read through most of this thread (believe it or not lol) but haven't found any answer to the question i and others have asked... how do you change the medium image size? its driving me nuts lol

Please don't blame it on the template. I remember IH2 was working but temperamental. It stopped working a few times and I managed to fix it before but not this time.

Glad to hear from a fellow Macster!
Thanks for the tip! I could not find a copy of FileMerge as it is apparently not supported for osX 10.6. I ended up DL'ing the program that replaced it (Changes). But it gave me a 15 day Free Trial, think it wants like $50! I will definitely look for TextWrangler! Thanks for the tip!
BTW, Changes works great, very instinctive. I was able to figure it out with ease. But I became confused when elements needed to be merged from both files at the same time. Because I was unsure what to do, I abandoned ship and will simply be waiting for the new version of IH2.

But she is right.. This app really doesn't do anything more except manage your images. It will create all the proper image dimension sizes based on the settings you provide. It will do some VERY simple image effects (currently only applies to small product images displayed in sideboxes and on the product listing pages -- zooming on medium images is not supported/working) It will do some image compression to improve image loading performance, and lastly it manages the file naming convention required by Zen Cart to link additional product images to the correct product.
IH2 is a very straightforward install and usually when it stops/doesn't work there are one of a few reasons why:
- Changes to the template files which remove core Zen Cart code IH2 needs to work properly
- Javascripts either from other mods or java slideshows and such which conflict with the IH2 javascript
- IH2 files are not copied to the correct location
- Mixed file formats for main product and additional images (For example: main product image is a JPG and additional images a PNGs
- Case mix-ups between the main product image and the additional images (For example: the main product image file name is all upper case and the additional images file names are all lowercase)
IH2 doesn't affect the style or layout of images on the product details or product listing pages. (You didn't ask this, but I certainly have seen some recent questions on this count) It only affect the behavior of the image on these pages.
Once you install the files, set your image settings, and activate it, it really should just work.. If it doesn't that truly usually means that there are other things going on with the site that are interfering with IH2 functioning as it should.

@deathman2006
these are my settings---play around with them to see which gets changed for sure by making the sizes like mine then after you find the one you want...write it down so you don't forget like I did and change it to your liking
