Hi,
I'm having problem seeing Wordpress characters correctly under an ISO8859-2 site.
is there any trick how to make it work?
WP:
define('DB_CHARSET', 'latin2');
define('DB_COLLATE', ''); //latin2_hungarian_ci

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Hi,
I just dled worpress 2.6.3 but I don't want to get started on anything until I figure out if this version is even compatible w/ the zen cart module. Does anyone know?
Thanks!
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Can this module be utilized with b2evolution or are there no similarities at all between that and wordpress.
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Love it - great work... I installed it and it is working beautifully - except I cannot access the wp admin stuff. It throws a internal 500 error... when i try to access http://www.bluebirdservices.info/zen...press/wp-admin
any clues? I am off to try that php error handling script to see if i can figure it out. ANy help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I'm attempting to install this onto our site, and I'm not having any luck. Possibly it's something I'm doing wrong? The directions with the readme file seem a little muddy, but maybe it's just my inexperience...
ZC on our site has its own folder (aestheticsbodymod.com/store.... /store being the ZC folder).
I'm just going to copy/paste vaguely the instructions from the readme file and add what I'm doing... anyone help on where I'm going wrong?
I uploaded everything but the index.php file into aestheticsbodymod.com/store (NOT the whole wordpress folder, just the contents of that folder) via FileZilla
I changed /store so that the permission is 777.
Ran the install for WP.
Changed the WP settings so that the folder matches the folder of my store -- so that's the same as where I uploaded it, right? aestheticsbodymod.com/store is what I put there... at this point, if I go to aestheticsbodymod.com/store I still see our store as usual, and if I click on "view blog" or whatever in WP's admin panel, it takes me to the ZC store as well. Should that be the case? I tried uploading it to a separate folder (aestheticsbodymod.com/store/wordpress) and at this point in the game I could go to aestheticsbodymod.com/store/wordpress and see the skeleton of an un-touched wordpress blog -- but I had read in some of the other comments that this mod only works well with ZC if you do option B and install WP into ZC's folder? I think this might be where my confusion is, but I tried it both ways and am still stumped...
Anyway...
Changed the theme on WP (it was already set to that as default actually).
Changed /ZC_ROOT/includes/templates/MY_TEMP to /ZC_ROOT/includes/templates/custom (my custom template name)
Uploaded the contents (NOT the entire folders, right?) of ZC_ROOT and WC_ROOT to aestheticsbodymod.com/store via dragging and dropping in FZ.
Didn't need to change all the 'exit' parts to 'return' since it's a new version of WP.
Changed "'ABSPATH','/var/www/vhost/example.com/public_html/blog/'"
to "ABSPATH','http://www.aestheticsbodymod.com/store'"
Logged into ZC's admin panel to make the sideboxes visible...
still doesn't work.
Any ideas? Based on my input here, is there something I'm doing wrong? I've tried this install a few times now and tried to do it a couple different ways, and I'm still not getting it to work. When I load "http://aestheticsbodymod.com/store/index.php?main_page=wordpress"
I get a file not found error still... same as if I click on any of the sidebar links for the blog in ZC.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
guys. can I put my wordpress account inside zencart 1.3.8? how will i do that? help please.
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Okay, so I think I'm closer... I now have wp functioning inside of zc, but it isn't taking on any of the style of zen-cart... it just looks like the generic wp template inside of zen-cart.
Where did I go wrong?
Also, maybe this is an easy one, but I want the most recent blog entry to be the main page of our store. Should this be happening already (it's not) or did I do something wrong? Or do I need to somehow make the main page redirect to the blog page?

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Hi I have just installed wordpress on zen cart plugin. I followed all the steps, i can see all my wordpress pages in the sidebar but when i click on a wordpress page links in the sidebar, it openes a blank page. I checked the source code of this blank page and cannot see anything there as well. Any help appreciated.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Hi, I am new to both zen cart n wordpress. I installed wordpress into zen cart and it's working fine...only thing is, when I click on the 'Blog Sidebar' it gives me the following error:
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/oragever/public_html/includes/templates/magic/common/html_header.php:22) in /home/oragever/public_html/blog/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 850
Anyone has any ideas about this? It's ok actually even if the 'Blog Sidebar' is just pure text that doesn't redirect to somewhere else...
btw my url is http://makeupcelebrity.com
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I used to get this error and it bugged me a bit trying to figure it out. I believe that it is being caused by a plugin that you have with wordpress.
Ohhh, I just checked your page and it seems you have fixed it. Was it caused from a plugin?

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
What do I need to do to change my blog URL to "mysitename.com/blog/" instead of "mysitename.com/wordpress/"
The folder where wordpress is installed is named "blog". I also have Simple SEO URL installed, but the alias does not seem to work for some reason.

It may be difficult installing these in seperate directories. Apparently it can be done with a fresh version of Zen Cart, but there is some addon that must conflict with it. If you have managed to successfully install in seperate directories and you can actually access the blog through Zen Cart, I think you would need to make your change to the file in includes/extra_configures/wordpress-config.php in the section with:
Code:
define ('ABSPATH','./');
Your 'ABSPATH' would probably be ../wordpress/ or something like that.
Let me know if something like that works.
the 'ABSPATH' in the sample I used is when you have wordpress installed in the same directory as Zen Cart, as per his instructions.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
While I'm grateful that someone started such a cool mod, this thread seems to be full of question after question with no real answers. Most of the sites I checked in this thread seem to have totally given up on getting this to work and just installed wordpress on its own page.
I installed it and its not working at all. I followed the poor instructions step by step. I wish the few who actually got this mod to work would revisit this thread and enlighten us instead of just disappearing to conquer their next task =)

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Hi Misty;
I've had no probs with this mod even with the current WP-2.7
Has anyone ever considered bundling up the WOZ package and the current version of WP as a ZC add-on?
Putting everything in the right place and making some adjustments to the default template that comes with WP to be more ZC friendly (like not calling the sidebar on almost every page) and removing wp index.php from the kit might simplify things for many folks.
Along with some clear tested instructions on what/where to edit and how to jump to the new wp install to finish up as normal.
I address this to you as you seem to be lead on this cool mod.
Just a thought.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=681
There is already wordpress addon/mod from above.
ZenCart version 2.0 is due out very soon..WordPress
mod will then almost certainly have to be recoded.
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Ya, what I mean is combine that module with the current version of WP (2.7 as I write this) so that installing the mod installs both the mod you mention AND WP itself with a few minor edits to the default WP template to make it play nicer with ZC out of the box.
Say call it, WOZ+WP...
And yes, ZC 2.0 changes much, but by the time it's out of beta it will still be some time.
On the other hand, it could just be a silly idea. I have lots of those. I leave it up to you to sort them out :)

Thanks for the reply. I was very frustrated when I wrote that post haha. I'm still getting this message "file not found site.com/blog/wp-config.php" when I go to http://www.site.com/index.php?main_page=wordpress.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall and it's still there. Is it because I am installing wordpress in its own directory /blog?

Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to install wordpress manually since godaddy's hosting connection won't allow me to install wordpress into the root since zencart is already there.

Godaddy hosting does not always play well together with
Zencart..how it fairs with Word Press..no idea..search zen cart forums for Godaddy.

That sounds strange. When you have wordpress installed, you don't actually overwrite the zen cart index.php file in the root directory... So Zen Cart is really still your main installation, Wordpress just has its files piled up around it.
It seems like its worth a shot, or is GoDaddy all strict about this kind of thing?
Oh, I get what you were saying, manually vs. automatic, but you will still do the install, so just disregard this.

Hi, i think they set it up like that so people dont overwrite their current setup when they try to add new programs to their space.
I've installed wordpress before but as far as i can remember, its a pain in the ###### haha. I recall their instructions weren't the easiest to follow (kinda like the ones for this mod =P jk )

This reply is dated, but i'm trying to use this mod too and have followed all the steps outlined, here, no luck. blank page not even a home page or file not found. installed several times per directions. despite this post, this thread shows NO answer or remedy to the question. Can any one clearly state the steps that enabled this to work. I'm using 1.3.8 zen, 2.7 wordpress all in the same folder http://www.short-wedding-dresses.net but nothing shows. The database is the same too. still no dice. heres what i have in the wordpress-config. php, is this the right syntax? define ('ABSPATH',);
('ABSPATH','http://www.short-wedding-dresses.net/');
$woz_install=0;
did i miss a step?:(

I just read through most of the forum before installing WP (someone please correct me if I missed it) and from my understanding, Google Base Feeder and Wordpress don't work together. It's either WP or Google Base. I hope that helps!

I installed this, and I got the exact same error when I go to the WordPress link:
http://testsite.overthehillweb.com/z...page=wordpress
I've searched this whole thread for an answer, and while I see others reporting the same or similar error, I am not seeing a solid solution to clear this error.
All the sideboxes links seem to be working fine, but the main blog page does not. I've looked at the pluggable.php file, hoping the answer might be obvious.. But alas it's not..
Any ideas??

So I did a little more research.. Now I still don't know the solution, but I've gotten a clue as to the cause..
My error message is this:
Quote:
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/o/v/e/overthehill/html/testsite.overthehillweb.com/zentest1/includes/templates/template_default/common/html_header.php:22) in /home/content/o/v/e/overthehill/html/testsite.overthehillweb.com/zentest1/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 850
I found this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/Answers-T...s_already_sent
The relevant portion is this:
Quote:
Interpreting the Error Message:
If the error message states: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /path/blog/wp-config.php:34) in /path/blog/wp-login.php on line 42, then the problem is at line #34 of wp-config.php, not line #42 of wp-login.php. In this scenario, line #42 of wp-login.php is the victim. It is being affected by the excess whitespace at line #34 of wp-config.php.
If the error message states: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /path/wp-admin/admin-header.php:8) in /path/wp-admin/post.php on line 569, then the problem is at line #8 of admin-header.php, not line #569 of post.php. In this scenario, line #569 of post.php is the victim. It is being affected by the excess whitespace at line #8 of admin-header.php.
So based on this, the issue I am having is in this file: includes/templates/template_default/common/html_header.php. And the offending line is this:
Code:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" <?php echo HTML_PARAMS; ?>>
Now I know what.. But I am still unclear about HOW to solve this error.. I am hoping that someone here knows the answer.. This looks like it's ALMOST there.. **sigh**

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
So I stepped away from this for a bit to give my problem some thought.. It occurred to me that nowhere in this thread could I confirm that anyone had successfully gotten this mod working correctly with WordPress v2.7. (Someone PLEASE correct me if I am wrong) So I decided to try one more thing.. Here's what I did:
- I deleted ALL of the WordPress v2.7 files (Note: I ONLY deleted the WordPress files, and left all of the WOZ mod files in place)
- I opened up my hosts database manager and dropped all of my WordPress tables
- I then uploaded the WordPress v2.5 files (all files with the exception of the "index.php" & "license.txt" files)
- I followed the WordPress installation instructions, and installed WordPress v2.5
and.... TADA!!!!
Now when I go to: http://testsite.overthehillweb.com/z...page=wordpress
IT WORKS...:clap:
Please note that I DO NOT have WordPress installed in a seperate directory. I uploaded all of the WordPress files into the same folder where Zen Cart files reside.
So the moral of the story for me is that WordPress on Zen does not appear to work correctly with WordPress v2.7.. The sidebozes worked perfectly, but the "index.php?main_page=wordpress" page got the error I postd earlier.. I wanted to share my experience here in case anyone else is having the same error on their "index.php?main_page=wordpress" page. I've looked at a few of the links posted in this thread, and it appears that a few folks are indeed getting this same error, but they look like they are working around it by only using the WOZ sideboxes.
Now if anyone has successfully gotten this mod to work with WordPress v2.7, I would be grateful for any tips on how you got it to work.. For now I'll learn to live with this.. Ideally it would be nce to use this great mod with the latest and greatest version of WordPress..
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I can say for certain, the WOZ plugin works perfectly with WP 2.7 and ZC 1.3.8

Care to share how you got it to work without the error message some of us seem to be getting.. I installed it on a FRESH copy of Zen 1.3.8a, and it did not work..
As I stated in my previous posts, my issue with Wordpress v2.7 and this mod is that the sideboxes work fine (and the links within them as well) but the main blog page "index.php?main_page=wordpress" does not..
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I didn't do anything special or that's not part of the instructions. It just worked.
I installed into same directory as Zen Cart.

Update: I decided to try seeing if v2.6.5 also worked with this mod, and it did.
I also tried upgrading v2.6.5 to v2.7 and the error I reported earlier in this thread on http://www.yoursite.com/index.php?main_page=wordpress returned. (Please note the links on the sideboxes work regardless as to which version I use). So it really appears as if v2.7 won't work when you go to http://www.yoursite.com/index.php?main_page=wordpress. WordPress v2.7 it's still usable with this mod if you don't mind having to work around not using the main blog page.. All of the other blog links seem to work.. I just can't get the main blog page to work without an error. So v2.6.5 will have to do for now..

There is a fix for this problem, I did some minor investigation and found that by
removing line 822-852 in pluggable.php
and
removing the if ( $do_redirect ) loop from canonicle.php starting at line 281.
... This works... but... now you won't have access to these lines which are needed to add/edit posts from the admin.
Therefore, instead of removing the previous lines, we need a simple - if statement. If current page= wordpress, don't run this loop. If current page= worpress-admin, run this loop.
- If you are lazy like me and don't want to figure out the loop, you could have your edit versions of those two files and your original versions of those two files and swap back and forth during the addition of posts, then swap back so your viewers can see ... mainpage=worpress correctly.

Thanks for the info.. However, I can't toggle back and forth between files like that.. My client will not be happy with that as a solution, and I can't say that I blame her.. Clearly there is an issue with using WordPress v2.7 and this mod together, and I'd rather find out what the actual fix is and implement it.. I'm mean I could work around NOT using the main blog page if I REALLY wanted to. After all the other blog pages do work, but to me that means that this mod isn't working fully as it is intended to work..

I still stand by my results. After a day of testing this mod on a fresh copy of Zen, it appears that this mod doesn't work fully with v2.7. I have not yet seen a working example of a site using v2.7 where the main blog page works. Based on reading through posts in this thread, my results seem to be in line with others based on the examples I have seen.. Until I figure out (or pay someone to figure it out -- and option I am considering) what the issue is, I will stick with v2.6.5.

I would agree with that statement. I have encountered endless troubles with this mod (and even worse I started imagining I could integrate a forum on top of this wordpress mod (with the wp-united plugin for phpBB3) on top of Zen Cart. The endless difficulties and wasted time! But I learned a lot.
I learned that often times people will start a great mod for a piece of software and loose interest in it, and people start getting angry but don't realize the responsibility will have to fall on a new person to take care of the mod and make updates (this is the case with the great Wordpress United mod that stopped getting updated.
This mod - from the beginning - has been a mickey mouse quick throw together (not to discredit the considerable time that went into thinking up this mod in the first place ~kudos there) .
Someone with above average problem solving programming skills needs to look into this mod and tweak it to make it run more smoothly. Perhaps with this new version of ZC, there will be a rescue mission.
By the way: http://fabricstashinc.com/index.php?main_page=wordpress
It looks crappy as hell itself, but it does work!

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I actually haven't encountered too many troubles except that the main blog page doesn't work if you are using WordPress v2.7. Otherwise this add-on works fine for what I intended to use it for. Hopefully my client will feel that WordPress v2.6.5 will be fine for her blogging needs. If my client decides that she really needs WordPress v2.7, then we will simply investigate hiring a developer to work out the last mile of road on getting this mod to play completely nice with WordPress v2.7..
It only makes sence that the 1st version of this mod as a Zen Cart 2.0 mod will have to address the issue of compatibility with WordPress v2.7.. That's if this mod gets re-written for Zen Cart v2.0. The original developer may not take that on, and others may not pick up that baton.. Such is the nature of OS software.. It will be interesting to see which of the current Zen Cart add-ons will in fact be re-written for Zen Cart 2.0..

Too bad we don't have this figured out for 2.7 yet... The admin backend has been totally revamped and is very impressive I must say!

I couldn't agree more.. The WordPress v2.7 admin is one of the more compelling reasons why I have such a keen interest in using v2.7 with this module.. This mod works fine with the last 2.6.x version of WordPress.. However, my client decided to go the commercial route and pay for the required updates so that she has a working version of this mod that is FULLY compatible with Word Press v2.7. Kinda excited about this..:clap:

Odd. I just installed WP 2.7 (via Fantastico) onto my moderately fresh 1.3.8 site and installed this mod, following the instructions.
No problem at all. Granted I haven't played with it yet, but the sidebox for the archives displays, and when clicked, the sample post appears as expected.
Site I did this on is offline at present.

The issue that is being reported with this mod and WordPress v2.7 is that the main blog page produces an error. The sideboxes and ALL the other blog links appear to work just fine.. However, the main blog page does not.. Does your main blog page work? (Main blog page = http://www.yourhost.com/index.php?main_page=wordpress) If so I'd be VERY curious to see this. Can you post a link? I've yet to see an example using this mod with v2.7 where the main blog page does not produce an error.
This mod is usable with v2.7 if you just chose NOT to use the main blog page.. All of the other blog links and the mod's sideboxes work just fine.. I'm just of the opinion though that this means that this mod isn't working fully as it is intended to work.. There are enough of us with this issue that would seem to indicate that the mod needs changes/updates to be FULLY compatible with WordPress v2.7..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I am going to give up on this mod until it works better (or works for 2.7).
So I will have WP seperate. If I do this, do I just put my Google Analytics code in the WP footer? Or do I need a whole separate analytics account?

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
OK, so here's a funny quirk... I had similar troubles getting WP in my ZEN cart. I have WP in a seperate directory than ZEN - like this
root/blog/ - here is my wp
root/store/ here is my zen
so i do the install and follow all the instructions and get an error
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/DOMAIN/html/store/includes/templates/template_default/common/html_header.php:22) in /home/content/DOMAIN/html/blog/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 850...
seems that if i do the url like this it works with out the error...
Domain.com/store/? -- yes, just a plain question mark after the url... totally weird.
but like this and I get an error:
domain.com/store/index.php?main_page=wordpress
food for thought.. i will mess with it, but if there are suggestions I will take them.
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I've seen this question asked before but I can't seem to get pretty permalinks to work. When I change my blog address to "whateverblogname.com/blog" and use the following in .htaccess:
RewriteRule ^blog/ index\.php?main_page=wordpress&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
it works but I'm not able to access my admin anymore.
I just looking to get permlinks working for SEO, does anyone know how?

I too was messing around with this myself earlier today. I discovered that there are actually THREE alternate URLs that bring up the main blog page. Any one of these seems to work.
http://www.yourdomain.com/?
http://www.yourdomain.com/?cat=0
http://www.yourdomain.com/?main_page=wordpress
A friend discovered that third URL.. So I am grateful for his help.. (Thanks Phillip!:smile:)
So I am going to make a few adjustments to some of the WOZ, and WordPress files to hammer this the rest of the way in place. Then I will be able to present a REAL WORKING version of this mod with v2.7 where the main blog page REALLY works.
What a :censored: PITA this mod has been!

how do i change the header image of my woz to a different image that i have designed?

Also wanted to add this.. The friend who looked at this for me made a very valid point.. Though no one ever posted a real link proving that they got this to work straight on with WordPress v2.7. (By straight on I mean this mod working using the correct blog main page link without using the alternate links previously posted) he surmises that perhaps some folks probably had one of the SEO mods in place on their site. This might explain why they did not experience the issue with the http://www.yourdomain.com/index.php?main_page=wordpress link throwing an error..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
So, is this how it's supposed to work?

This is vanilla ZC 1.3.8 and WP 2.7

To share what I did, I tried it on a vanilla Zen Cart install and still got the same error.. In fact I did two completely SEPARATE vanilla Zen Cart installs with WordPress v2.7 and the WOZ mod and the result was EXACTLY the same.. (and yes they were fresh downloads of the two apps and the WOZ mod just to make DOUBLY sure I was sure of my test results)
So clearly there are other factors that play into why it works for some and not others.. So my question remains the same.. Those of us who are having issues would like those who are not having the issue to give us some insight as to what they have done to get it to work..
Please don't take this the wrong way, but if your only secret is that you installed it and it just worked "somehow", that is not going to provide much insight for those of us who are having the issue with this mod and WordPress v2.7.. A vanilla Zen Cart install isn't resolving the issue for me.. There has to be more to this solution than that.. In the meantime there appears to be an adequate workaround..

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
No, it just didn't work. I spend some time figuring it out. Oddly, other sites I've upgraded to 2.7 seem to have no problem. But as someone point out, this may be because of other (seo) mods masking the problem.
So I read these posts and try to figure out what it's really supposed to do (or what you think it's supposed to do) and set up test to see if it breaks for me too.
Yes it breaks for me.
So if the demo I make is what you are expecting to do, I post it here. I just trying to be sure Im not misunderstanding and post foolishness. If above is what you want, do this:
In includes/extra_configures/wordpress-config.php
find:
Code:
$i=strlen(DIR_WS_CATALOG);
$req=substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'],$i,1);
if($req=='?') {
$_GET['main_page']='wordpress';
}
and just BELOW that block, ADD this:
Code:
// kiddos patch for WP 2.7
$i=strlen(DIR_WS_CATALOG);
$req=substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'],$i,1);
if(($req=='i') && ($_GET['main_page']=='wordpress')) {
$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] = str_replace("index.php","",$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
}
Only do this if the above demo is acting like you think it should.
If this makes other things explode I'll try to fix if I can reproduce the problem.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
kiddo, Did you install WordPress 2.7 in it's OWN folder or
same directory as Zencart 1.38.a..different/seperate database
or same as zencart?
-
Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
This is install in same directory for both ZC and WP. I'm using a separate DB for each, but I've done it with both using the same DB with WP just using the _wp prefix.
I make it like this as it seems that is how most would do it.
I read there are problems with making it in separate directories but I never try that. If it is still unsolved problem, maybe I fix that.
I read a few posts up, there is another fix for the WP 2.7 problem but I don't see it anywhere. If I spent time on something already fixed, I feel silly.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I am up for a while. Hope to hear you confirm it works.
When I do it, I install ZC first.
Then I rename the index.php file to index_ZC.php
Then install WP and make sure it works.
Then rename the index.php that was installed by WP to index_WP.php and rename index_ZC.php back to index.php
Now install the WOZ module as said in the instructions.
Then please test my fix. I am eager to hear.
PS: I am looking for someplace to try the install in different directories.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
One place where I see this fix things is in the blog sidebar where the sidebox heading text is clickable and the link is /index.php?main_page=wordpress
If you leave the wp sideboxes in the default position, they work well, but I think if you try moving them to the right column a few things break that need a few tweeks to the WP default template. I've had to fix that before and I think it had to do with commenting out calling the proper wp side column. (comment it out I think.

Tested all zencart WPress sideboxes, both left and right side..
only place where patch is required would be more link on
Blog Sidebar.
Installation/all testing using Classic Template on brand new Vanilla install of zencart 1.3.8a..
Good work with patch Kiddo...

Wow.. You ladies had a busy night I see.. I haven't tried this patch yet.. (gotta get ready for work right now) But I plan to do it tonight.. Your patch is in the file that I suspected needed to be modified.. I just had NO CLUE what the modification was..:smile: I was (kinda) okay using any of the three the workaround links except that I wouldn't be able to use the link on the Blog Sidebox header.. (and I was sorta formulating a workaround for that)
In any case I concur with Misty.. Good work on the patch! You totally ROCK!!!!:clap::clap:
I have been playing with this mod, and doing minor tweaks to the WordPress styles.. I like WordPress, but WordPress is soo not like Zen.. Some styles are located in places you may not intuitively think to look for 'em.. (at least IMO)

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Okay.. so I took two seconds out to do this while I was brushing my teeth.. and dammed if this didn't do the trick!! Thank you thank you thank you Kiddo!!! You sooo totally rock girl!!!:clap::clap: Now I just have to reactivate the link on the blog sidebox header again, and I'll be cooking with Crisco!!!

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Just wanted to add this.. I tried Kiddo's update on both a vanilla install of Zen Cart and on a modded Zen Cart install (dev site).. Works fine on both.
Wanted to make sure I included my install details:
- Installed with WordPress integrated into Zen Cart (i.e. both Word Press and Zen Cart files are in the same root directory)
- WordPress tables are in the same database as the Zen Cart tables (used "wp_" table prefix for the Word Press tables)
Thanks again Kiddo for coming up with the magic fix!:clap:

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
I just installed the Zencart 1.3.8a and WP 2.7 in different directories and db's as per WOZ read me instructions. I also added the kiddos patch for WP 2.7 in the extra_configures/wordpress-config.php.
I had a couple issues with the readme but, crossed my fingers and hit my install. No problems except formatting issues on the WP sidebar. The issue may be resolved with answers to my following questions.
In the setup readme:
Step 3:
Please change [/ZC_ROOT/includes/templates/MY_TEMP/] in template directory name using.
What the heck does that mean??? :blink:
also:
In addition, in the case of Zen-Cart v1.2,
please use [ZC_ROOT/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_wordpress_default.php.v12].
Huh?? :blink:
I am using the default templates on both installs. The above instructions confuse my naturally pre- confused brain.
Also, in Step 4:
Open [Path of WordPress]/wp-include/template-loader.php, and please alter all "exit;" into "return;".
(It may be unnecessary with the WordPress most recent version.)
I did not do the above because I used the latest WP.
Is this necessary with WP2.7 ??? :blink:
My zen/wp site maintained the blue wordpress default theme in the wordpress elements and the sidebox formatting is incorrectly spaced from left margin.
The screenshot in the readme shows a properly aligned WP sidebox and green color in WP body elements that match the zencart default.
So, I obviously missed something. Prob in step 3 or 4 right?
Other than that, seems to work well. Will be really nice to administrate pages/blog through Wordress and product data through Zencart.
Thanks for any assistance...

Can I only insert a post on main page?
I have tried this code on main page , but I don't see the post
<fieldset>
<legend>Latest Post</legend>
<?php
$posts = get_posts(‘numberposts=5‘);
foreach($posts as $post) :
setup_postdata($post);
?>
<a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a>
<?php /*the_content();*/ ?>
<br />
<?php endforeach; ?>
</fieldset>
please...
in this mode I see only the post and blog remains separated, in way to not conflict with simple seo url?
Thank you in advance

Your understanding of WP is much better than mine so I can't say about the code you show, but in my opinion (and I'm sure I will get flamed for this) is that additional SEO modules that tinker with and re-write URL's are more a pain than they are worth and only (when they work) make things pretty for people and not the machines that index and rank your site.
Personally, I would dump the SEO mod(s) and let the software work as it's designed to do and instead focus on writing compelling content and make your shop full of nice things for your customers to buy.
I've had no trouble getting first page google rankings on many of my keywords just using the out-of-the-box meta tag tools and good content.
If you want to banter about the virtues and pitfalls of SEO there are a number of other interesting threads debating this with compelling arguments on both sides.

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Sorry, I really did not understand your answers. I do not wish to offend anyone, I just need clarification. It's me....
if you have your template the correct path is
There is a folder that is named accordingly but only contains a stylesheet "css/stylesheet_woz.css". I see nowhere in the source code where that stylesheet is referenced.
I am using the default templates. Do you mean if I use a custom template to put it in the MY_TEMP directory? The instructions read "PLEASE CHANGE". That means I need to make a change, correct?
if you have zen cart 1.3.8a don't see that
That seems clear enough. Just use the default template in 1.3.8a... right?
then you have to see with default template on WP
So, are you saying the color and alignment issues, as compared to the screenshots in the readme, are due to the default wordpress template? I will have to edit the default wordpress stylesheet to make my install look green like the screenshot in the readme? No problem, that is easy but, I was under the assumption that after a correct install, my site should look like the screenshot. Am I wrong?
Thanks for your fast help. I have been using Zencart for years. Never tried to implement with Wordpress though. Looking forward to Zencart 2.0! Hope the two will still shake hands or the Wordpress plugin will be revised to work with Zencart 2.0.
Thanks again...

Re: Wordpress On Zencart / Released
Ok, I figured it out, I think...
It seems I must add the css in the sylesheet_woz.css to the end of the stylesheet in the default stylesheet. After I appended the css, the sidebox contents aligned properly.
The instructions really do not mention that at all. There was a rem in the stylesheet that gave me a "clue".
Seems to be fine now. Now to ammend the default WP stylesheet to match Zencarts styles.
Thanks for the tips.. You got me on the right track..

includes/templates/MY_TEMP/
The directory name in bold should match the name of your template's directory
The complete answer is a little off topic for this thread.. If you are new to Zen Cart I suggest you read this thread to get a complete understanding of how the templates work:
https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=142
I know people hate it when folks suggest reading something in order to get an answer, but in this case this is a good article to help explain the answer to your question.. Understanding this article will help you understand how/why you need to change the directory name as per the WOZ install instructions.
I'm gonna keep this next part brief because as I previously stated it is a LOT off topic for this thread.. Really briefly, you should not be using the default template AT ALL. In my opinion you should not use the Classic template either.. The classic template is a great baseline template to use when you need to determine if a mod or change you made has created an issue.. Switching to the Classic template can help with that kind of troubleshooting.. You should be working off of either a custom template you create or one of the available Zen templates.

It means if you are using Zen Cart 1.3.8a, that this part of the instructions does not apply to you.. If you had done a find and replace on the template-loader.php, you would have seen that were are no "exit"s to replace.

Yes, and if you are seeing ANY of the default WordPress template, it means that you have likely not installed the WordPress files from this mod correctly. The mod's files provide basically a clean WordPress template (minus background images and colors) which is why it will blend in with your Zen template with very little modifying afterwards.. You may make a few style tweaks to WordPress, but for the most part you really don't have to..

I have tried this code on main page , but I don't see the post
<fieldset>
<legend>Latest Post</legend>
<?php
$posts = get_posts(‘numberposts=5‘);
foreach($posts as $post) :
setup_postdata($post);
?>
<a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a>
<?php /*the_content();*/ ?>
<br />
<?php endforeach; ?>
</fieldset>
please...
in this mode I see only the post and blog remains separated, in way to not conflict with simple seo url?
Thank you in advance
:blush:
Show wordpress posts on main page of zencart..
Post following code into define_main_page.php
Code:
<?php
require('./wp-blog-header.php');
?><?php
$posts = get_posts('numberposts=2'); // change to whatever number of posts to show
foreach($posts as $post) :
setup_postdata($post);
?>
<h2><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h2>
<?php the_date(); ?>
<?php the_content(); ?><hr />
<?php endforeach; ?>
Alter 2, marked red, to number of posts to show..

You actually could have just uploaded the sylesheet_woz.css to your template's CSS directory too..

I do not know if this is what you are looking for but, I am very familiar with Wordpress.
In wp-admin panel go to Settings/Reading area. There you can select what shows up on your front page and/or how many posts.
As far as SEO plugins, wait until your site is all done. Check out your competitors meta and possibly analyze with some reputable software like Web Position. Check yours out with Web Position too. Many people mess up their sites indexing by trying too hard. A good xml sitemap and robots.txt file is also a plus.
Wait until your site is established and optimized, then work on positioning. The rules seem to change every few months anyhow.
With this WOZ plugin, we may even have to alter the htaccess file a bit. I have not even tried permalinks and cache yet.
As mentioned previously, make a good site with relevant content first, then worry about "advertising". (Make the product before selling it)
Most of all HAVE FUN! :cool:

Well, going to my gut yes, no hope for my head though... I can exercise to help my gut. :flex: THNX! :D
Before I continue though, I am gonna re-install it all in the same directory. The advantages outweigh the extra work to keep them seperate... I am sure I will run into index.php issues but, I noticed lots of info previously in this thread that will prob answer my issues.
Thanks again all..
