Uhm I see I am the first I download this module. When I install the rest of shipping module I not see in the admin Gui and also the modules of parcel force is not possible edit.
At the end I restore my backup

a) you are in the incorrect place for asking questions about parcelforce.
b) previously you demanded that I work for you for free by shouting at me
c) in all likelihood you put the files in the wrong place.
d) the reason why the UK and everyone else will not get parceforce 24 and the other uk services is because you seem to think that I exist to do your bidding, you are very wrong on that point.
I think your quote above sums you up perfectly.

Hi philip_clarke
First i would like to congratulate you on an excellent Mod.
you and everyone on this board have saved me a lot of headaches.
Ive installed version 2.3.4 but my system keep saying there is an sql update for it, have i messed it up ?
Thankyou
Michael McManus
I've PM'd you with the details of the update. The modues still work and your custmers don't see that the roya mail have changed rates,
Philip.
Hi philip I've installed version 2.3.4 but my system keeps saying there is an sql update for it, what am I missing ?
i also, getting the same error, about an update. can it be pm to me also.
Thanks
hello,
first of all a big thank to Philip for creating such a useful module.
I would like to ask a quick help.
I am trying to install the Big Royal mail module following the instructions:
I am unsure about this point:
2) copy the files from big_royalmail_v2.3/images/icons/ to YOUR_ZC_FOLDER/images/icons/
There is no "icons" forlder under /public_html/images
Anyone knows where I shoudl copy the bog royal mail icons to?
Im using zen cart version: 1.3.8a
Many thanks in advace.
Gio
If there is not an icons folder under images then you should create the folder.
(I shall add this to the instructions)
Any other problems, please PM me.
Thank you
Philip.
Hi Philip
I seem to be getting the same probs as everyone else in that I am getting a message in my admin telling me rates need to be updated? Could you PM me with anything i need to do to update the rates? Or any advice?
Your help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
Hi Philip
I’ve just installed the update and I am getting the same message as others telling me
The rates for the Royal Mail Shipping Modules increased on 5th Apr 2009. A SQL patch is available to update them
I have tried to do this but not working could you please help me out
And thank you for what is a life saver of an add-on
Just to confirm that the message saying the Royal Mail rates have changed on the 5th April, is only displayed in admin. At no point is it shown to a customer.
Thanks
Philip.
Is the mysql update for april 9th around anywhere as yet, maybe its not or it could be and I just done know where to find it?
Thanks :)
My Zen tells me that there is an up to date sql patch and I am sent to the last post.
Can any person give me the URL for the patch download.
:unsure::unsure:
Seven of the last eight questions have been about the sql patch. I hope it's okay to post this info, as no one else seems to have posted the answer.
If you check out Philip's website (click the "BOT, SHIELD, SCAN" link in his sig), you'll see a link that says "ZenCart Royal Mail Update SQL for 2009 Available here" which explains it all.
It states that although Philip has kindly released the Royal Mail module to the community for free under the GPL, the SQL update patches (there are two of them) are not free and it would be against the license to distribute them - so there's no point in asking for links or a URL to the SQL patches because they'll never be available for free.
Even if you're installing the most recent version of the module, the postage rates will be out of date and you will see the error. Install the module in the knowledge that it is out-of-date and if you want to use the SQL patches provided by Philip you will have to pay him to install them. This is all explained clearly on his website.
I hope I've understood the situation correctly.
Presumably you can still change the postage prices yourself if you wish? (You always could with the old version.)
Yes you can always edit the postal rates yourselves and to do the airmail ones takes about 3/4 of a day cutting and pasting. But I'm not allowed to mention that paying me to do the sql updates is cheaper (the uk minimum wage for one hour), less error prone and faster, because I'll get censored for solicitiing, ooops.
Philip.
Whilst awaiting a reply re the patch I have update the prices by hand, but please how do I get rid of the notice telling me to get an update patch.
You'll find in the define files lines like this:
define('MODULE_SHIPPING_RMAM_EXPIRES', 1238976000);
which is the expiry time in unix time, you can change the number to a date in the future. (but it will be overwritten any time you upgrade and the SQL patch gets around this).
Philip.
Hi Philip,
can you please let me know how to enable international shipping as i have done a test sale but for any country outside the UK i get a msg stating "Not Available At This Time
Sorry, we cannot calculate your shipping at this time.
Please contact us so that we can arrange a quote tailored especially for you." how do i rectify this problem?
Thx
Which airmail modules have you installed and have you made sure that the weight and the price of the shopping cart is underneath the values set int admin.
Thank you.
I ended up manually changing my prices.
In case you wanna do it too - really simple price list, provided by the Royal Mail
ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/pu...ublication.pdf
And I work for the UK minimum wage.
This module is amazing! Well done for making it. It is exactly what I need!
I am however experiencing a problem and I can't seem to find the answer in this thread;
I have enabled the 'Royal Mail Standard Parcels' module ver. 2.3.4 I did a test buy for an item that was £2 and weight of 0.5kg, I made sure that in admin modules>shipping the minimum order weight for this shipping module was set to 1.501 and that hide invalid shipping was set to 'true' because I don't want this postage option to be displayed to customers if their order is under 1.501kg.
And this test order is only 0.5, however I still get displayed 'Royal Mail Standard Parcels
Royal Mail Standard Parcels is only available for orders over 1.50 kgs'
I have done the same thing with the 'Royal Mail Standard Parcels (to £100 insurance)' module and this works fine, it doesn't display to customers as an option or as the standard parcel one above does.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks,
Sushigal
Yes go to admin > configuration > shipping and packaging and check the Tare values, that 3 Kg is not being added by zen cart to the shipping weight (it's a default value so happens a lot). Also I'd like to see this (if possible), as there appears to be a difference between 2 modules that should be virtually identical in response.
Thank you
Philip.
Hi, thanks for getting back to me, here's the link to my site if that's what you need to see my problem?
I went to config>shipping/packaging and the only thing that was set to 3 was 'Display no of boxes and Weight status' I changed that to 0 and its not fixed the problem.
Both tare weight fields,
'Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight'
and
'Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight'
were both set to 0:0 anyway. If that's what you were referring to?
Many thanks,
Sushigal
Sorry, I think this is actually what you needed, a link to the checkout of the test purchase where this problem with two identical modules is occurring; http://www.thegreatgiftshop.co.uk/ze...ckout_shipping
Sorry for the delay other comittments got in the way. I can't see what you mean as I assume you've currenlty disabled it, but I think I understand having re-read the above a couple of times. What you are saying is that when "hide invalid shipping" is set, and the shopping cart is under the minimum weight for the standard parcels modules, then std parcels is still showing an error message which you would like removed ?
This should be straigtforwards enough, I'll look at the minimum weight code tomorrow morning, but I suspect that I just never turned on Hide invalid shipping for that section.
Thank you
Philip.
As an interim release I have corrected the flaws in Hide Invalid Shipping and the min weight/ standard parcels modules. This makes sure that shipping "errors" (too light, under cost etc...) are not shown to the customer if True is selected for the appropriate module in admin
There is a zip file here:
http://########################.co.uk/versions/rmstdparcels.zip
overwrite the files in includes/modules/shipping/ you do not need to remove and install, you only require to overwrite the files and check that Hide Invalid Shipping is set to True.
Sorry about all the bold italics etc... otherwise people will just go and install the modules even if they aren't using standard parcles.
Philip.
Hey, no problem. Well its not an error message, it just shows up as: 'Royal Mail Standard Parcels
Royal Mail Standard Parcels is only available for orders over 1.50 kgs'
If you can find out why its still showing up then that would be great.
Thanks
ah, i didnt see your reply above. Thanks so much. I'm away for the weekend now but will try doing all the above on monday.
Many thanks
Okay, it's classifies as a "Shipping Error Message" by zen cart, so it's just different words, but the new zip work and will be incorporated into the next release.
Philip.
Thnak you Philip. I followed your instructions and that has fixed the problem.
Thank you very much,
Sushigal
Hello i am having a small problem with the royal mail module,is there a sql for all the countys in the UK i need to add and also i dont seem to find ukzr.php that i have been reading about on this forum thans again for your help
Hi, ukzr is a courier module and so has been split to the parcelforce modules.
Inside the zip file is a SQL patch that you install in Admin> tools > Install SQL patches the patch is called
optional/ukzr_optional_county_install-0.0.1.sql
The ParcelForce module is in mysignature below.
Thank you
Philip.
Thank you philip i have checked my big_royal_mail_2-3-3\big_royalmail_v2.3.3\optional folder all i have is 3 php files no sql thanks for your help
Yes I know, that's what I said. ukzr and the SQL is now in ParcelForce which is here:
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=1308
not in the big royal mail package any more.
thank you
Hello all!
I have a big problem! I installed the royal mail shipping module and all seemed to be ok until I tried installing the optional extras. I keep getting this message on my admin site on the shipping/module section...
Warning: include(e:/domains/u/uniquedesigns.me.uk/user/htdocs/includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/shipping_estimator.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in E:\domains\u\uniquedesigns.me.uk\user\htdocs\admin\modules.php on line 173
Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'e:/domains/u/uniquedesigns.me.uk/user/htdocs/includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/shipping_estimator.php' for inclusion (include_path='.;C:\php5\pear') in E:\domains\u\uniquedesigns.me.uk\user\htdocs\admin\modules.php on line 173
Fatal error: Call to a member function count_contents() on a non-object in E:\domains\u\uniquedesigns.me.uk\user\htdocs\includes\modules\shipping\shipping_ estimator.php on line 28
I have looked for any errors on these files and have changed the optional extras back to how they were before but its not resolved the problem now 3 hours later I'm fed up! Any help much appreciated!
do you have a file here ?
includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/shipping_estimator.php
because that seems to be the source of the problems. Is it readable by the web server ? it is "odd" that this error appears in the admin side of the site too, unfortunately I have no experience in these modules on a windows platform (I wrote them) so may not be able to help.
Also what I find a little strange is that there should never be a file in that location in the first place. The files below are the only estimator files that should be present on a default ZC 1.3.8
./includes/languages/english/popup_shipping_estimator.php
./includes/modules/pages/popup_shipping_estimator/header_php.php
./includes/modules/pages/popup_shipping_estimator/jscript_addr_pulldowns.php
./includes/modules/shipping_estimator.php
./includes/templates/template_default/buttons/english/button_shipping_estimator.gif
./includes/templates/template_default/popup_shipping_estimator/tpl_main_page.php
./includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php
did you place anything in admin/includes/modules or somewhere over the admin side by mistake ?
Philip.
Hi Philip, no I don't have the shipping_estimator file there should I?
I loked but I can't see that I have changed anyhting in the admin/modules section.
I also check all the other files that you gave me and I don't have these installed
./includes/modules/pages/popup_shipping_estimator/header_php.php
./includes/modules/pages/popup_shipping_estimator/jscript_addr_pulldowns.php
in the above I just have /popup_shipping_estimator
i can't find the below file either...
./includes/templates/template_default/popup_shipping_estimator/tpl_main_page.php
I have added the shipping_estimator file in includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/shipping_estimator.php and the first 2 warning message have gone, now Im only getting-
Fatal error: Call to a member function count_contents() on a non-object in E:\domains\u\uniquedesigns.me.uk\user\htdocs\includes\languages\english\modules\ shipping\shipping_estimator.php on line 28
Update-I found this file...
./includes/templates/template_default/popup_shipping_estimator/tpl_main_page.php
sorry I'm new to all this shipping before I just had free shipping and I'm tempted to go back to that but befoe I can change anything I need to sort this problem out!
Okay I suspect that you initially put a file in the wrong place since this error is showing up in admin. None of the royal mail modules call the shipping estimator inside admin it is only a shopping cart function, so what I think has happened (and this is only a guess) is that somewhere you've got a shipping estimator file in one of the admin folders and admin is trying to load it as a shipping module. Whatever is happening, it doesn't affect the modules on the shopping side so the price calculations should still be correct. I'm going to try and recreate the problem on a test server.
Philip.
Yes you have a file in the wrong place. You have shipping_estimator.php in
e:/domains/u/uniquedesigns.me.uk/user/htdocs/includes/modules/shipping/
shipping_estimator should be one folder upwards.
Philip.
Thats it!!!!
Oh thank you thank you thank you!! I think that's aged me by 5 years! lol:D
Good now you should probably move the admin folder as recommended by the security guidelines here :
http://www.uniquedesigns.me.uk/docs/...endations.html
since you've posted your site to the world on this forum !
Hi Philip
I ahve set your shipping system up on this site http://www.tackstore.co.uk/shop/.
I just renamed a few shipping options via the language files.
The only thing is, which i don't have on another site which uses the same system, I seem to be having the Kgs displayed, e.g. 3.000 kg(s), as per attachment.
I can't see whay this is happening as there is no setting for 3 kg, the product isn't 3 kg, etc.
Can you think what the issue might be?
Matt
Ho Ho, the old 3 Kg issue. It's not a Royal Mail problem, if you go to configuration > shipping and packaging > Package Tare, you'll find that by default ZC adds 3 lbs in weight to any parcel to account for "the envelope or cardboard box" what I normally recommend is that you set
Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight 10%:0
and
Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight 8%:0
as a guideline, e.g. add 10% weight to your smaller packets and 8% for the bigger ones.
Phjilip
of course, thank you philip
I would like to lose reference to weight, although it is now not showing 3 kg, it is showing : 0.000 kg(s)
Can you poss let me knwo how I do this?
Thanks
Matt
There's no easy way unless you program PHP and the modules. ZC has a setting for hiding the number of boxes or weight in the shipping estimator but this doesn't apply to the modules, mainly because at the end of the day you have on your system an invoice with the weight of the item and the postage paid so you can work out things easier.
You'd need to go into the modules you are using and modify the variables $shipping_weight and $sw_text before they are added to $this->quotes which is not an easy task as most of the modules return at different places, e.g. if it's under a weight, if it's over a weight, if it's over a price limit, so you need to locate in each module the exact part which return the "correct" weight which isn't necessarily at the end of every function, I suppose I could put it on the "wants" list, but it'd be low down as I'd have to code it for 32+ individual modules.
Philip.
thanks Philip
why does the weight not show up on this site then http://www.northdevonsurfshop.co.uk? (see attached)
matt
Becuase I removed it manually by hand when I was paid to do it.
hmmm, yes, i thought that, but, used the same files as used on the north devon surf shop site, but still get weight
thanks for your feedback, great help, great module
Hi Philip
Can you poss advise how I might go about losing refernece to weight?
I am happy to pay for services.
I can't figure it out - when i activate another shipping module it doesn't show weighet 0.000 kg(s), e.g. Flat rate, Per itme, etc.
I did advise above (or below depending on which way you're reading the threads), which variables to change. No other module you've mentioned is like the Royal Mail modules e.g. flat rate wouldn't need a weight.
As I recall I didn't bill for the last time as it lasted way over the alloted time or initial specification, but I'm sure you can find someone in the appropriate forums.
Hi Philip thanks for doing the SQL update for me a few weeks back.
I’m now trying to sort out world shipping zones for my courier using UKZR I have added the extra zone and every thing seems fine and now i am entering the Prices but I need it add a 2.95% fuel surcharge. Do you know how can i make the handling fee work as a percentage?
Thanks
short answer: handling fee doesn't do a percentage so you'd need to change the rates, also ukzr.php does not work unless it is downloaded from here
http://########################.co.uk/versions/ukzr.txt
and renamed to includes/modules/shipping/ukzr.php. They'll be an updated version in the ParcelForce download area in the next coupe of days when the submission is approved,
Version 2.3.5 is now available from here until it is in the add-ins section:
http://########################.co.uk/versions/b...ail_v2.3.5.zip
Bug fixes to the Standard Parcels Modules (no need to re-install just place the files on the server)
Optional Shipping Estimator now updated to 1.3.8 code and re-arranged in the optional folder to make installation easier.
I have just updated the optional shipping estimator, but it is no longer working for me. It will only show me quotes for the UK even if I select another country?
If I replace with the previous version of the estimator it works fine, any ideas?
Also with either version of your estimator, if i no shipping is available I get this message:
TITLE_NO_SHIPPING_AVAILABLE TEXT_NO_SHIPPING_AVAILABLE
Is this correct as when looking at your files it seems I should be getting a more user friendy message?
The constant should be defined in includes/languages/languages/english/shopping_cart.php at the bottom of the php, I've checked the zip file and it should be in there but I'll confirm if I've cocked up the instructions as to where to put it. Regarding the english thing I must investigate this further, and will get back as soon as I've set up a clean test site as it was working when I sent it outbut the test site I've been using has had a lot of modifications over the last couple of months.
There may be an issue in that originally there were 3 files, and if you previoulsy has it installed, then file number 3 from the old version may be causing a problem which is just what I can think of, off the top of my head. Back soon
Philip.
I have confirmed that the problem with the shipping_estimator where it does not display non-gb countries is caused by having an old shipping_estimator.php installed from an previous version of the Big RoyalMail modules. You need to replace includes/modules/shipping_estimator.php with the one from whichever version of zencart you are currently using e.g. 1.3.8 when I install the old optional estimator and then upgrade it to the new, the same error, so I should have made it clearer in my instructions about the need to revert, sorry.
With regards to the error message not being displayed, I am just working my way through that now.
Philip.
 Okay I made a mistake up there stating that shopping_cart.php should be in includes/languages/languages/english/shopping_cart.php it should be in includes/languages/english/shopping_cart.php like it is in the zipped up 2.3.5 version of the module, attached is what is displayed when it is in the correct place.
Philip
Yes that fixed the quote problem, the TITLE_NO_SHIPPING_AVAILABLE, TEXT_NO_SHIPPING_AVAILABLE
problem still remains tho.
Thanks Philip
Is your site using a template override ? that's the only thing I can think of, find shopping_cart.php on your shop and then muck around with the defines until you can change the text of the estimator, it maybe that the default location is being ignored in favour of a template. I'm just going to muck around with mine and see if I can find a possible overried location.
Right I've been able to override mine so I am guessing you need to look for a shopping_cart.php in
includes/languages/english/classic/
or
includes/languages/english/YOUR TEMPLATE NAME/
there should certainly be a shopping_cart.php in includes/languages/english/ which shoulc be either the default zencart one or the one from the zip file and then there may be another one later on in the filesystem. My guess is that the file is not in the right place or has been overridden as I've been able to do both (see attachment above).
Yes I thought of that and included it in that folder as well.
I have just switched the estimator from 1= Display as Button on Shopping Cart
to 2= Display as Listing on Shopping Cart Page and it now works correctly, its probably better this way anyway so thank you.
Mine doesn't look as pretty as yours tho?Attachment 5735
Attachment 5736
The one I'm using is the default "classic" theme, I don't have an active shop to play with any more, and thank you as that means that I have cocked up somewhere and that the popup_estimator must be using a different define file, so all I need to do is locate it. It's small info like that, that helps a great deal.
Thanks for the quick response, I was sure I must be doing something wrong.
if
includes/languages/english/popup_shipping_estimator.php
is edited to add these two lines:
then the popup estimator works properly. It appears that the estimtor does not reference the defines in shopping_cart and only in the file above and english.php (not a good file to alter for a module), so I will include a modified popup_shipping_estimator.php and a 1.3.8 shipping_estimator.php so that people revert back to an original version if they choose to install. Thanks for your help and replies (it's a lot easier when someone replies when debugging even if it is to say if it worked, becasue otherwise there's just a lack of closure).Code:define('TITLE_NO_SHIPPING_AVAILABLE', 'Not Available At This Time');
define('TEXT_NO_SHIPPING_AVAILABLE','<span class="alert">Sorry, we cannot calculate your shipping __COUNTRY__ at this time.</span><br />Ple
ase contact us so that we can arrange a quote tailored especially for you.');
Philip.
Yes its working here with the popup estimator as well. :D
Hello everyone
OK I'm totally clueless and sorry if this has been dealt with before. Just testing this mod and got this error appearing on my cart:
includes/modules/shipping/rmamisfsmallpacket.php; constant() [function.constant]: Couldn't find constant MODULE_SHIPPING_RMAMISFSMALLPACKET_ZONES_COUNTRIES_2
Can anyone please tell me what I have done wrong?
mod looks super by the way - well once I get rid of that message anyways
That's very unusual as that is not "normal", what are testing out in the shopping cart, e.g. the country; as in theory the module should not get to the point where it looks for that constant (because it doesn't exist).
Philip.
Hi Philip,
not really sure what has happened. I just installed as instructed and then activated a couple of modules in admin. Then when I went to do a test order I added a product to cart and that is the message that appeared.
Everything else looks normal apart from that.
thanks
John
just to follow up
the initial test i did was on first class royal mail for shipping to uk.
i have since turned on a couple of the international mods as well (airsure and international recorded). When I have switched shipping estimator to other countries I am getting similar error messages for all of them.
It's probably due to some change that's been done to the cart in a bygone age and that I have forgotten about. If anyone has any ideas then great. If not I'll just have to stick with the crappy shipping set up I have got. :yuck:
What happens in the module is that for international ones it goes "right that the uk" dump out, then it goes "right that's europe" give a quote, "right rest of the world" give a quote. The only thing that I can think of is that you're shipping is sending some very strange country set up through to the module. It really should stop at "rest of the world" there's a loop that should end, can you change some countries on the estimator and see what's happening ?
Thank you
Philip.
Hi Philip,
The module is actually working in terms of when you swap countries it gives you the correct shipping options and prices. It's just the error messages as mentioned previously appear just above the shipping quotes.
If I could get rid of the error messages as far as I can see the module is actually working fine.
When you swap countries do the error messages disappear ? Is there anyway that I can quickly sneak a peak at this, because I've never seen it skip out of the loop before.
Thank you
Philip. (bte if you didn't know, I wrote it)
Hi Philip
it's more wrong than I first thought. When I swapped countries in the shipping estimator the error message did disappear. However when I went to check out my whole screen went a bit weird and it picked airmail instead of domestic.
Also my checkout screen went a bit weird - the font went really big and everything was out of place. I have switched the modules back off now but if you name a time I am happy to switch them back on for a few mins for you to have a look.
thanks
John
You are completely correct there is a bug in all of the airmail modules at least and it must stem back years, (thanks you the offer of letting me look at it though), the "default" for Zen cart is to hide errors, and there is certainly a loop skipping one, I can't recreate it exactly but I can see what you mean, I can suppress it quite easily and may choose to do so this weekend, but if I have the time, I would prefer to rewrite some quite substantial sections of the modules.
It ties in quite nicely with some groundwork I've been doing, I want to put in a "banned" countries list. When I ran a shop I never used to ship to the USA because small packets got lost too many times, but currently there is no facility to ban a country in the modules as everything is shoved into the "other" category if it isn't in Europe, hoefully I should be able to tie the two sections in together. The original code is based on a loop for splitting the country in Europe, World Zone 1 and World Zone 2, but a couple of years ago the royal mail reduced it to Europe and "the rest of the world", When the modules were modified to account for this, the World Zones were removed but not the underlying loop, since it is now a "is it in Europe" or "the rest of the world" question, the loop can be removed which should solve the problem, there just happens to be a lot of modules to do this. There will be a solution by Monday morning.
Thank you for bringing it up,
Philip.
Better later than never (should have been last night), Big Royal Mail 2.3.6 is available to download from here
http://########################.co.uk/versions/b...ail_v2.3.6.zip
until it is approved in the add-ins sections. The updates are
version 2.3.6
17/05/2009
Bug fixes to royal mail standard parcels modules.
Undefined constants errors removed in all Airmail modules.
Beta - ability to exclude countries added to Airmail Small Packets
Beta - Server Time correction now added to Special Delivery Saturday.
Airmail Service
The undefined constants that were resulting in troonorth's errors have been removed or altered in all modules.
If the ability to exclude countries from Airmail, e.g. the shop does not deliver to the USA, is popular, then it will be migrated to the other 5 Airmail modules.
Special Delivery Saturday
The Special Delivery Saturday module is now coming along very well. The module only enables on Thursday's at 5pm after the post office has closed and stops on Friday at 5pm. The "problem" was that some people host their shops on machines where the server time is not english, so there is not a time correction facility, where you enter the current time and date and it works out the difference and the module "just works".
The next step will be to give shop owners the ability to turn if on and off at their own times
I still use Zen-Cart 1.3.7. Will the new modules work with 1.3.7? I intend to update but not until the new version of Zen-Cart (v2) is released.
Is there and upgrade 'how-to'?
Many thanks for your effort and time on this.
Okay two things,
Point 1) These modules work all the way down to 1.3.0 with the exception of the optional templates, these (the templates) will probably work with 1.3.7 but do not work with 1.3.5.
The structure of the modules themselves has not changed in function since 1.3.0 so they should work fine. Normally upgrading only means you put it on your system and if you have any blank areas in the area to the right, when you click on the module's row in shipping, then you just remove and install. The "blank areas" mean that a new facility has been added to the module and that the modules can't find it, if you click on "edit" for a non-upgraded module, you tend to get a blank area and a blank textbox.
If you have changed anything like min or max order values or countries that you don't ship to, then the remove and re-install does not affect them, the only "problem" with that may be that because airsure changed it's countries this year, you may need to ask for a bit more help. I've always tried to construct the modules so that they don't overwrite any settings shop owners have put in.
Point 2) I cocked up airsure in 2.3.6 and it no longer recognizes USA and Canada, this is the link to 2.3.7
http://########################.co.uk/versions/b...ail_v2.3.7.zip
which fixes the bug, and also adds the ability to exclude countries from the International Signed for services. Airsure is limited to specific countries so ifone wants to exclude them from the service, one just removes them from the already existing country boxes.
Ok... help me please, somebody.
just downloaded and installed Big royalmail 2.3.4 and the install seems like it went ok.
I then clicked on the Upgraed_SQL folder and uploaded the sql patches in this order:
upgrade_1.2_to_1.3.sql
upgrade_all_to_1.5.sql
set_sort_order.sql
When i installed the first patch, upgrade_1.2_to_1.3.sql I got the message that it couldn't upgrade as they already existed.
I then installed the other 2 patches as described.
Was this normal?... I initailly got the error at the top of the screen saying that there was an update and to follow the link and download the latest sql patch. however I've refreshed my cache and the error message appears to have gone. i've now checked again and it has returned. what needs to be done?
Now i need to complete the configuration.
Obviously the postal methods etc are worked out via item weight. Where do I enter the weight of each item so that it knows how much to charge? Is it done in the usual way via catalog / catagories/products in the admin.. Or is it done elsewhere?
Afternoon,
The first thing is that you shouldn't have used the upgrade SQL unless you were upgrading rather than installing. I'll have a look but I believe that SQL is for people using very old carts and very old versions of the modules e.g 2~3 years ago. The next thing is that the RM modules are at 2.3.7 and there is a link above, and it would be better if you installed that version.
Be back soon,
Philip.
just checked and have discovered that the latest sql patch is a purchasable item. My client is in the process of purchasing these from you as i type. hopefully you can install these asap.
My clients name is debbie shailer and she'll be purchasing the both royal Mail updates.
I've upgraded to version 2.3.7 everything now looking good in the modules section.
Hello Philip,
Firstly, thank for the terrific modules, they do exactly what it says on the box!!
We have just installed Royal Mail 2.3.7 and DataPost 2.3.5 into Zen Cart 1.3.8
When we go into modules, shipping and select one of the modules for install we get this..
The rates for the Royal Mail Shipping Modules increased on 6th Apr 2009. A SQL patch is available to update them.
The support thread is here, click on the "Last >>" link on the right to get to the most recent post.
I have read the posts here, and it seems that we shouldn't (and haven't) used the SQL files provided in your package. But on checking the rates as currently set, I can confirm that they dont match the current rates with DataPost or Royal Mail.
Please can you advise where the updated tables are, and how I obtain them?
Many thanks in advance,
Bob
I've just PM'd you, no you should have installed those SQL patches apart from maybe the UK counties one and only if you had not installed that type of thing before. I really should remove them from the next release, those atches are only relevant for 2~3 years ago when major changes happened between versions 1.2 and 1.5
Philip.
Sorry Philip I meant Parcel Force NOT datapost!! grrrrrr
hmmm I am sure we must have gone wrong somewhere. We backed up all our databases, and processed UKZR_Total_Uninstall which is resident in the parcelforce2.3.5/optional folder, and then processed upgrade 1.2 to 1.3, upgrade_all to 1.5 and set_sort_order from the Update SQL folder in the big royalmail 2.3.4 set as there isnt any SQL updates in the 2.3.7 set.
Still we are getting SQL updates required on all of the modules.
Please can you advise where we may have gone wrong?
Many thanks again,
Bob
See that link at the top of the page which says Private Messages your answer lies within that, the SQL updates are not the ones in the package those updates could remove everytrace of the royal mail modules from your system or do some very strange things, especially if you've installed the counties update more than once, which would result in duplicate UK counties in your drop downs for people's addresses.
The SQL updates for the prices are something entirely different.
Just a quick question... Big Royal Mail handles weight in kg.... Zen cart by default deals weight in Ib.... How do i change it into kg???
in the file includes/languages/english.php you will find
define('TEXT_PRODUCT_WEIGHT_UNIT','lbs');
and
define('TEXT_SHIPPING_WEIGHT','lbs');
chaning those will list your items in Kilos,
then you should go to configuration > shipping/ packaging and look at the things with Tare in the rows, it;s the amount you add to each pakage to compensate for the increased weight due to the box or envelope. I normally recommend 10%:0 for the smaller items and 8%:0 for the larger ones, you'll need to take some items yourself just to work it out but generally that works, otherwise you'll find that zen cart adds 3 Kg to your packing for each item which creates ratehr a jolly mess.

Also after you've tested everything, the current recommendation is to to set "Hide Invalid Shipping" in each of your shipping modules to "True", they are set false by default so you can see your shipping modules are working like Airmail when you are using a UK estimate to test, but this morning a fault was reported with Paypal Website Pro (putting things in bold so people will bother reading them) where if the friendly messages like "Airmail does not ship to your country" are on, then Paypal charges £0.00 for the shipping as it goes for the lowest cost option, even if that option is invalid.
Thank you
Philip.
Hello
Im a total beginner in adding modules etc.
Can some give me detailed instructions on adding this royal mail module to my site.
www.jewellerysensations.com
Many thanks in advance.:clap::clap:
There is a file INSTALL.txt in the zip file, about 20 lines down is Installation - Quick, (you can ignore Upgrades or installing any SQL files) which is the fastest way to set it up.
Philip.
Hi this module seems to be causing problems for my shipping esitmimator once you have added a product to your cart and use the shipping esitmator on that page nothing shows up where the shipping estimator should be, then once you click update cart it shows up then once you have changed the country and click update it goes blank again, then you have to click update cart for it to work, obvioulsy not all customers will think to try such a thing and shop else where.
Hope you can help with this the only shipping modules im using is the latest paid for Big Royal Mail pack.
the shop link is www.anctgroup.com/store
Hmm, I do not think so, as in I do believe you but something is in the wrong place. The old shipping estimator was based on zc 1.3.5 code and had a problem in that it needed two goes to ge the session variable to register. This was then upgraded in one of the recent modules to 1.3.8 standard and worked perfectly. What I "think" is that you have an older version knocknig around in the template override system somewhere that is still causing the problem.
I'll have a look soon,
Philip.
Just to confirm to anyone following the thread, this is not a royal mail module bug. The original bug came from a 1.3.5 php page called shopping_cart.php installed on a 1.3.8 shop, and then there is a secondary bug where the estimator refuses to change country from the UK which seems to be caused by a change in templating system. The templating system bug is something that I am looking into, but it's not a priority since it's not a bug caused by these modules.
Thank you
Philip.
