Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Hi CLyde,
I think your cork board is GREAT!
Check out www.thedataedge.com
The only problem I have so far is that the Calendar on the header does not show 'correctly'
It did work but when I started changing the details in the define pages section it went as you see it now.
I am using v1.3.8
Many thanx for an entertaining and fun template.

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
You can try adjusting the settings in these declarations in the stylesheet.css
.calendar {
position: absolute;
background: url(../images/calbg.gif) no-repeat;
top: 122px;
right: 10px;
height:87px;
width:100px;
}
.year {
position: absolute;
top:129px;
right:22px;
font-weight:bold;
font-size:1.3em;
}
.month {
position:absolute;
top:127px;
right:62px;
font-weight:bold;
font-size:1.7em;
}
.day {
position:absolute;
top:164px;
right:42px;
font-size:3em;
font-weight:bold;
}
And since you aren't using it, you could delete index_home.css

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Hi Guys,
Thanx for the input.
I am going to try the adjustments..

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Hi Guys,
I checked the stylesheet.css and the settings are identical to your suggested values...
Any other ideas?
Thanx

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Hello! I just installed the classic zen 1.3.8 (contemporary green) and downloaded your corkboard template. I am very excited to use it; however, I am confused with the installation instructions. Am I supposed to REPLACE the INCLUDES file already installed on my server with the corkboard INCLUDES file? I thought the normal procedure to installing a new template was to upload the files into the template file. Please advise!:blink:

All the files/folders necessary for the functioning of the templates are located in the includes folder of the template.
You can just FTP the entire includes folder directly to your server
(where you have Zen Cart installed)
Note: you will not replace the includes folder that is already on the server

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Yes! Thank you! I have it up and functioning! I LOVE IT! I am so excited! I may need help in the future tweeking it, but in the mean time, thank you soooooooo much!:clap:

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Hi Clyde!!!
I need help, PLEASE!!! My site is: www. g o t y o u r w a n t.com (no spaces in my actual site)
I would like to do the following and have no clue how!
1. Remove the logo with the 'red x' in the corner that is currently in my header
2. The calendar obviously is not working right! (as you can see, I changed the calendar picture). Notice the words: DATE FORMAT MONTH & DATE FORMAT DAY in my header. I would also like to move the calendar to the upper lefthand corner of my header.
3. I would like to change the colors of the side boxes and make the titles of the side boxes fit better inside the white boxes.
4. Notice the bottom of my page, Powered by Zen Cart is not on my main page but on the background.
5. I would like delete the Nav Box in the upper left hand corner.
Thank you so much! Debbie

Let's take everything one step at a time!
First: make sure you've uploaded ALL the folders and files associated with the template in particular make sure you have uploaded all the files in the highlighted folder.
includes/languages/cork_board
includes/languages/english/cork_board
includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/cork_board
includes/languages/english/html_includes/cork_board
includes/modules/cork_board
includes/modules/sideboxes/cork_board
includes/templates/cork_board
-
Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Ok! Check on all! Everything on your list had already been uploaded, I didn't have to add anything.

we'll deal with the remaining question once you've gone through this list.
I'm putting this question at the top of the list because removing it means that you will have NO navigation for your site.
5. I would like delete the Nav Box in the upper left hand corner.
open includes/templates/cork_board/css/stylesheet.css
find the following declaration and add the highlighted portion. this will effectively remove the navigation for your site,
#navMainWrapper {
display:none;
font-size: 1.1em;
line-height: normal;
width: 160px;
position:absolute;
top:5px;
left:5px;
}
1. Remove the logo with the 'red x' in the corner that is currently in my header.
I'll refer you to the following article in the Tutorials/FAQ section
www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=126
The instructions listed there would apply to includes/templates/cork_board/common/tpl_header.php
Code:
<!-- <div id="logo">
<?php // echo '<a href="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . '">' . zen_image($template->get_template_dir(HEADER_LOGO_IMAGE, DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'images'). '/' . HEADER_LOGO_IMAGE, HEADER_ALT_TEXT) . '</a>'; ?>
</div> -->
2. The calendar obviously is not working right! (as you can see, I changed the calendar picture). Notice the words: DATE FORMAT MONTH & DATE FORMAT DAY in my header. I would also like to move the calendar to the upper lefthand corner of my header.
It appears that you are missing the language file located in
includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/cork_board/cork_board_defines.php
That's why your are getting the following in your heading:
DATE_FORMAT_YEAR
DATE_FORMAT_MONTH
DATE_FORMAT_DAY
So double check to make sure that file is where it should be.
Once that problem is corrected we can move on to the positioning of the elements.
3. I would like to change the colors of the side boxes and make the titles of the side boxes fit better inside the white boxes.
You will have to create new graphics for the sidebox_header.gif and sidebox_content.gif.
You can use the included default graphics as samples.
Make sure the height of sidebox_header.gif is sufficient to hold the graphic you want to use.

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Thank you for responding!
Yay! I was successful in question #1, (removing the box with the red x) Thank You!
For question #2 (fixing the calendar), I checked to see if the file includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/cork_board/cork_board_defines.php was in the right location, it was, but I deleted and re-uploaded anyway, just to see if that would fix it, but it remains the same.
Thank you for the help with question #3 (changing the color of my sideboxes), I will work on finding my new graphics
About question #5 (deleteing my nav box), instead of deleting it then, could you help me move it to the right side above the search box? I would need to fix the "HOME" link to directly link back to Zen Cart and not my intro page. Is it also possible to change the graphic or colors of the nav box?
Thank you so much!

Since the navigation section is not a sidebox, the short answer is no.
I suppose you could create a sidebox using the navigation code from tpl_header.php.
Again you can use the default menu.gif graphic as a guide and create a new menu.gif

make sure these definitions are present in includes/languages/english/extra_definitions//cork_board/cork_board_defines.php
//definitions used for the calendar that appears in the header
define('DATE_FORMAT_DAY', '%d'); // this is used for strftime()
define('DATE_FORMAT_MONTH', '%b'); // this is used for strftime()
define('DATE_FORMAT_YEAR', '%Y'); // this is used for strftime()

I checked the cork_board_defines.php file and all the above info was there. I copied and pasted yours just to be doubly sure; however, nothing changed... :frusty:

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Since my last post I've gone through my stylesheet and compared it with the original corkboard looking for some mistakes. I found some that I had made in the calendar entries, fixed them, all it did was move everything over to the right. Then I copied and pasted the whole calendar section from the original file to my file, and still, the same. Maybe I can just delete the calendar? I really don't see that it's a necessary part of my design. (I would need to know how to do this please!)

open includes/templates/cork_board/common/tpl_header.php
find and delete the following section of code.
Code:
<div class="calendar"> </div>
<div class="year"><?php echo strftime(DATE_FORMAT_YEAR);?></div>
<div class="month"><?php echo strftime(DATE_FORMAT_MONTH);?></div>
<div class="day"><?php echo strftime(DATE_FORMAT_DAY);?></div>

open includes/templates/cork_board/css stylesheet.css
find the following declaration and make the highlighted change.
#footer {
margin: 0 auto;
text-align: left;
background: url(../images/footer_bg.gif);
width: 850px;
height:112px;
clear:both;
}
That will effectively make the footer section shorter but you should really create a new footer_bg.gif graphic that is 850w x 112h

size? color? face?

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
I think the size on the left sideboxes is good, (I don't have a clue what size it is.) I would like the right sideboxes to be the same. I would like to use "Playbill" font (it looks western.)
As for the hover color, I don't know yet. I'm trying to find one that I like, (looking at hex charts).

font sizes for the sideboxes both left and right are the same.
Word of caution on use of font faces:
You want to use faces that are common on the computers used by your customers. I don't have playbill installed on my PC so that font face would not show up when viewing your site and I suspect most other users would not be able to see that font.
You always want to create a font family stack with faces that are common to user PCs/MACs.

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
That's a bummer. I've heard that before, I thought Playbill was a font everyone had. Sad! Oh well. The font on the right side looks like a different font. Are they different? If so, I would like them to be the same.
Also, how do I change the color of the hover?
Thanks so much! You have gotten me so far! :hug: I feel like I'm almost ready to start uploading some inventory!!! :clap:

Playbill is a speciality font and not one that would be installed on every computer. by speciality font I mean one that would be used to create a graphic with text such as you've done with your header.
Yes the font is the same on both the right and left sideboxes
open includes/templates/cork_board/css/stylesheet_betterCategoriesEzInfo.css

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Thank you Clyde!
If you take a look, I made a new MENU...I would; however, like it to be 160x76...is that possible?
I also need to change my "home" link to my actual shopping cart home page...is that change made in the stylesheet? (same for the HOME link at the footer)
My new sidebox headers are fitting perfectly, (thanks to your help), however... (why does there always have to be a "however?")...I have made them to have a dark brown line around the whole box, and you can't see the dark brown line at the bottom & right of each header. (For example: the CATEGORIES heading box should have a brown line around the entire box) I guess they really don't look too bad the way they are, but I thought it would divide it up a bit.
:wacko: You have been so helpful. Do you know the fixes to the above issues? Thanks in advance! Debbie

The menu items are a list and will expand downward as needed.
the five items presently in the menu take up the space they need in order to display.
open includes/templates/cork_board/css/stylesheet.css
find the following declarations and try changing the highlighted portions (more than likely change to 0)
#categoriesHeading {
margin: 0;
padding: 0.5em 0.2em;
/*border-bottom:1px solid #DFDFDF;*/
font-weight: bold;
}
.leftBoxHeading, .rightBoxHeading {
margin: 0;
padding: 0.5em 0.2em;
background:url(../images/sideboxtop.png) no-repeat;
color: #000;
text-align:center;
font-weight: bold;
}
also might want to open includes/templates/cork_board/css/stylesheet.css
find the following section(s) and adjust the width as indicated by the highlight
doing this will pull the right sideboxes up and even with the top of the left sideboxes
#navBreadCrumb {
margin: 1.5em auto 0;
padding: .7em 0 0 2.5em;
background: url(../images/bread_crumb.gif) no-repeat;
font-size: 0.95em;
font-weight: bold;
height:30px;
width:500px;
}

The width of your heading graphics is 150px so go to
admin -> configuration -> layout settings and make these settings. (right now I believe you have them set at 145px)
Column Width - Left Boxes 150px
Column Width - Right Boxes 150px

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Thanks again Clyde!
Unfortunately, I have some serious issues here. My front store page is starting to look good! (With all your help! Thank you again!) But if you click on LOG IN....something has gone wrong somewhere. I don't how long it's been messed up because I don't think I've really ventured out onto the other pages for a while. If you notice the form is messed up and also the BREADCRUMB bar changes from my design to the original Corkboard design.
(Are you getting sick of me yet?:yuck:)

Again the form is messed up because you appear to be missing some of the language files that contain the definitions for the template. in this case includes/languages/cork_board/english.php
as for the graphic you can change that in
includes/templates/cork_board/css/login.css
#navBreadCrumb {
margin: 1em 0 0 20px;
padding: .5em 0 .5em 2em;
background: url(../images/breadcrumb_login.gif) no-repeat;
font-size: 0.95em;
font-weight: bold;
width: 920px;
}

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
I do have the file and the definitions you quoted in the following directory:
includes/languages/corkboard/english.php
I guess in a way that is bad news because that means something else is wrong, right?

For some reason or another some of the directories had been renamed to corkboard instead of cork_board.
I corrected them and everything seems to be working fine.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! It took you a fraction of the time it would have taken me! I have already spent WAY too long on this! (one thing I did notice is that it says "error on page" on the LOG IN page at the bottom (through Internet Explorer)...is that something to be concerned about? What was wrong with my site, by the way? Was it just the directory names?

The problem was that those directories had been mis-named to corkboard and the template couldn't find the necessary files. making the correction to cork_board fixed it.
I didn't notice that error message in FF so I could be overly concerned about it. (probably another IE something or other.)

:no: That didn't help make my display right. I left it for you to see. IF you go to my website then: Accessories/Book Bag...you will see the results of my typing in the description under admin/catalog/catagories/products in the text area (I've tried using both the plain text and the html editors). I unzipped and uploaded the tpl_product_info_disply.php to: includes/templates/cork_board/templates/ per your instructions...

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Hi Clyde
Since Cork Board is one of your templates with a main_page.php div layout, would it be possible for you to also restructure the template so that the footer is forced to sit at the bottom of the screen unless content pushes the footer lower, as per this thread:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104107
TIA

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
I download your cork board and I really like it. The one big problem I am having is I will like to add to the top of the template I guess you call it the header of the webpage. I like in as big as I can display it am to have the name of the store there. I like to do the font in color. Can you post the steps I need to go through to do this? I shall really appreciate it for I have spent hours trying to figure it out and looking for the answers.

A link to your site would be useful.
Also a more specific explanation of what you mean by (I like in as big as I can display it am to have the name of the store there. I like to do the font in color.) would be helpful.

open includes/templates/cork_board/css/stylesheet.css
find the following: you can change the font size and the color by adding by adjusting the highlighted portion.
#tagline {
padding:5px;
font-size: 1.2em;
font-weight: bold;
text-align: center;
vertical-align: middle;
color: #000; /* change this as needed*/
}

Those are images and you would have to redo them in an image editor to make them wider.

The way your login page appears indicates that you are missing the files I indicated in my above post.
I would need to have FTP access to your site in order to double check the files.
You can PM the information to me.

You can select your currency in
admin -> localization -> currencies
If needed you can add your own currency.
The conversion rate can be found in
admin -> my store -> Currency Conversion Ratio

Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Thanks for the info Clyde. I'll do that.:smile: But I do need more assitance from you.
.
1. How do I add the length of the "add to cart button"? It only can be viewed as "add to car".
2. How the I change the wording "sponsor" for the side banner to other words such as "partner".
3. How do I decrease the height of the bottom space that contain "copyright......".
TQ.
-
Re: Cork Board Template Support Thread
Sorry Clyde, just one more question.
1. There is a side banner on the left, why does it follows whatever pic on the right side banner. The right side banner falls under "Have you seen.." , but when I put my product items for right side banner, it will also appear at "left side banner" which I feel weird, "sponsor" but the pic appear is my products items.
TQ:smile:

1. You are using "CSS buttons" You can turn that off in admin -> configuration -> layout settings -> CSS Buttons then use the custom button set that comes with the template.
2. not template specific and is covered in this article
3. Since that area is an image, you will have to edit or create an new image at the size you wish.

use admin -> tools -> banner manager to check the banners you may have installed.
