Responsive Apparel Boutique Template

Hello :-) I am happy to announce the release of another responsive template package to the zen cart community. It had been built using the Responsive DIY Template Default for v1.5.x by rbarbour, thank you rbarbour!

Where would a person find the responsive versions to download?

I only see 3 templates in the responsive template area but the count indicates 5.

andover_modern is our current template of choice if you are prioritizing things based upon comments.

Most likely brain-fart on my end. I have stepped through the readme yesterday and this morning. Most likely a missed step but nothing looks like the demo using fullscreen desktop.

Config: Layout Settings: first line is column-width left boxes instead of the blue, activate responsive template.....
Config: Responsive Apparel Boutique Template: Nothing listed in that screen....

I have installed all sql statements.

Same appearance for responsive all business template.

Other templates yield expected appearance.

Did you go to admin--configuration--layout settings and set the ACTIVATE Responsive Template by selecting Column Widths to 2?

AFAIK, I did. For both this and All Business. Neither show anything in their respective config tabs. I will be away from my ftp computer till later this afternoon to check again.

Yes. Both responsive SQL patches performed had previously been executed but just ran them again to see if there were any error msgs.

The Yellow, see Upgrade Exceptions table just says "xxx already exists".

I could try installing a different responsive template but don't expect any difference since AllBusiness appears the same.
I hate being a problem child too. I guess there's always a possibility that it is not playing nice with some addon that I've installed but other templates play nice.

The error says that the show_box_min_width column already exists so maybe there is no problem? When you go to admin--tools--layout boxes controller do you see the column?

If you go to your database and look in the configuration_group table do you see more than one id number for the template?

Yes. Blue Text. All turned OFF per instructions.

Admin: Configuration: Layout Settings: No Blue Text in first row as shown in readme

You have all parts installed correctly from what I can see.

The funny and (irritating) thing about the responsive design is that when using div;s, all the coding errors prevent the layout from correctly displaying as it should where as using HTML tables in the stock code contained the errors within the TR;s and TD;s.

First and foremost issue with responsive design:

An opening div tag without a closing div tag
No opening div tag with a closing div tag
An extra div tag

I use FF - Right Click anywhere on your page > Click View Page Source

Find the code that is (BOLDED and in RED font) and fix it.

Done. No effect. Also turned off all the excess rabslide banner images.

I can comprehend how doing these things will affect the displayed page.
I cannot comprehend how these things will cause the admin responsive options which do not appear for setup, to appear in the configuration screens to be setup.

I would rather figure out how I got this so messed up instead of just wiping out the entire install and starting with a fresh V1.5.1 install. A fresh install would eliminate all learning opportunities.

It looks like you might be missing files. If it were me, I would start over. Be sure that you upload all files, including the admin ones ;)

I would do that but I've already added all of your responsive templates and get the same result on each. There is something common and most likely something that I've mucked up in the process but I'm not ready to throw in the towel. I'll let you know what happens but don't want to contaminate your support thread any more.

Greetings! You do good work; I'm liking this and your other new templates (having fun trying to see how far I can wreck them!)

Seriously: Is there an easy way (yeah, I know, "easy") to add/remove/adjust the slides parameters? I would like to see how to change size (I think I have), plus add or remove slides and changing the number of them, change the slide and layout size and changing the transition from slide to fade... Are these easy to do?...

You can visit the slides js site for instructions on changing the various javacript options. You can add more slides, etc by editing the includes/templates/responsive_apparel_boutique/common/tpl_home_slider.php file. The slide show dimensions can be changed in the stylesheet_slides.css file.

Sorry to keep asking, but my results... I added a new image (rapslide6.jpg where the other slides are (images/banners/). I added the slide listing in the store's Banner Manager, and matched the info set up of the other five rapslide images already there. Then I went to tpl_home_slider.php file, copied the rapslide5 code and pasted it in after the 5 code and changed it to 6:

There are more steps involved. You are creating a new banner group. If you do a search on the forum you will find several how to's about this ;) You will also need to add the database info. See the sql patch for details on what needs to be added to the database.

OK, I was successful at adding the info manually to the database by MySQL, which is where I have some experience. Where I don't have experience with is in these sql files, and I wanted to ask, if I were to create the following and save it as an sql file, would it work?

love these templates and especially the responsive designs.. can't wait for the andover modern to be converted.. wish i could figure it out myself.. :)

do you give a full list of the changes to the old template so that those of us who are using the old, non-responive versions, can manually update our templates - since we probably have made many customizations and can't just override the template files.

also if we run the sql patches, we will not be able to use the old non-responive templates any more? i ask because we're using the multi-site module and many sites are run from the same database and any changes might affect the other sites since they are using your older non-responsive versions of the templates..

If you compare a clean copy of the original to the new responsive version you will see all the changes. I however suggest you move your customisation into the responsive version rather than the responsive into your customised version.

You'll need to ensure you have a safe backup as I haven't yet heard of anyone using multisite and installing these new templates. However I can confirm that in INDIVIDUAL usage I can stop from original (non responsive) to responsive with no issues whatsoever.

No, the responsive template packages are really too different to just list out the changes. Not only am I converting the old templates to responsive templates, but I am also fixing all known/reported bugs and integrating in the design from scratch to (hopefully) ensure that any css or other coding issues are fixed ;)

The responsive-ness can be turned on and off in the admin so you can load any templates and use them. Also, all of the responsive files are in the template override so it really should not matter if you install a non-responsive template. The non-responsive template will not be effected or be responsive.

I want text links and possibly 5 columns in the footer

To modify the footer you can edit the includes/templates/responsive_apparel_boutique/common/tpl_footer_menu.php. This is also where you will change the icons to just a plain text link. Add links, etc. in the includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/responsive_apparel_boutique/footer_menu_defines.php. The stylesheet used for the footer is in includes/templates/responsive_apparel_boutique/css/stylesheet_footer_menu.css

I think these are related to the template rather than the system

How can i use a separate set of thumbnails for the listing pages
might have been earlier version i did it on in the past but im sure
i had a folder for sm small images in the image folder

Also how can i disable the left column on certain pages tried to
use the method for none over ride but no joy it could be me thou lol

and edit it to read

I've tried to create new pages using a how to and also using a generator
both pages created open but the footer is missing where do i need to be
looking to correct this is it the template

Thanks that fixed it.

I have noticed a few other issues.

1. When clicking the "Click for larger image" link, it opens the image in a smaller window than my product listing is.
The only partial solution I've searched was to recode the popup to open a new window to a certain fixed size.
I did not have this issue using a modified version of the original supplied green template.

2. An issue with fixing the MAP price add on to display the trailing zero on prices such was $12.50.
I made a post here but no one was able to respond.

Hi I believe the SQL for the "About Us" Define Page needs an update. The first section below is what was supplied in about_us.sql. After I ran the provided SQL there was no option on the "Define Page Status" configuration page to enable or disable the About Us page.

I have installed the responsive apparel boutique template and it is working perfectly. I have also added a few mods such as Image Handler 4_v4_3_2 and ceon-uri-mapping_4.4.1_for_zc with no problems.

In Admin, Layout settings i have Categories - Always Show on Main Page set to on.

When adding text to the main page (in Admin) using define_main_page.php the text is put above the categories. Is there any way to add text to the main page so that it will show below the categories ?

You can move the define main page text by editing the code in the includes/templates/override/templates/tpl_index_categories.php file. You will need to create the override for this file.

The responsive apprarel boutique is a completely different template. You can install it, but it will be the same as installing any new template. You will have to make your customizations and re-install any override files from any modules that you have installed to the new template directory.

You need to backtrack through your changes to find out at which point you broke the responsiveness of the design. I would recommend starting from the Responsive Apparel Boutique template then just making color changes to match your old design, carefully testing after each change.

I am not sure exactly what you are asking. There are media queries in the responsive.css stylesheet that are called on devices that use certain widths. If you backtrack through your changes and find a change that breaks the responsive design, then you need to modify the new element (most likely using css) so that it fits into the responsive design or uses responsive design principles.

Thank you for your reply. I did as you suggested and found the problem ^^

However, another issue popped up.. May I know if there is any way to change to picture size for product category listing (for mobile)? It's normal on the index page, but very small in category listing.
