Hey guys,
Many comments from non-buying customers who I followed up with have suggested offering shipping rates on the cart page...No problem...
But when I enable the option, I don't get any results.
Hopefully someone can take a look and give me an idea of what might be happening, www.tqualizer.biz
I am only using the Canada Post module for shipping, btw.
Additional,
It seems to work if a user logs in, and goes back to the cart page to calculate the shipping via the shipping estimator.
I need to have guests be able to use this feature, any help out there?
Shipping modules that require an address cannot produce a quote until the information exists ...
Add to your text for the estimator more verbage to help the customer get a clue ... :smile:

Unfortunately, it won't even product a quote when the information is manually entered.
What version of Zen Cart?
What other mods/addons have you installed?
What template did you base your site on?
What have you entered in your Admin for "Store Zone" and "Postal Code" ?
Shipping estimator requires nothing special for CPC to provide quotes ... works same as any other shipping module.
Oh ... and ... is this problem occurring when the customer is logged-in, or not-logged-in ?
You hit the nail on the head...The user is not logged in, which is my reason for even offering the shipping estimator.
Once a user is logged in, the shipping quotes are working fine...
but I've had many customers want to know the shipping estimate prior to having to go through the log in process.
There's got to be a solution for this...no?
It just worked fine for me on a client site -- not-logged-in ... choose an address ... update ... CPC quotes show up just fine.
When not logged in ... the customer only has to select the shipping info and hit update to obtain a quote ...
But until they do, nothing will show as a quote ...

I'm running PSiGate payment, and Canada Post...I installed a FAQ module, but it is not in use. I also am using Sales Report module.

The site was modified directly from the original green template that is packed with ZC.

Does the behaviour work any differently when you change the shipping-estimator to be a popup?
Does it work any differently if you switch to "Classic" template ?
It comes up blank when I switch to the classic template,
It still comes up blank when I run it as a popup window.
The update link is pointing to "http://www.tqualizer.biz/_" do you think that has something to do with it??

I'd be inclined to download your /includes/modules and /includes/templates folders and run WinMerge or some diff tool to compare your active files with the original v1.3.6 files to see if something has been missed in an upgrade or busted in a customization ...

Hmmm ... I see nothing wrong in all that ...
This is so strange, I feel I should say again that if a customer is logged in, and works their way back to the cart page, and they open the shipping estimator, it works fine.
If you turn on some of the other shipping modules, do those modules bring up any rates for the not-logged-in-user ?
I've not been able to get the UPS module to work...
Which ones would you recommend that will work for a Canadian store, that can pull real time rates?

Speaking with Canada post, they have pointed out an error message being return on my requests that the Postal Code is not getting passed to the server.
Have you ever seen this before, and might it have anything to do with the problem of shipping estimator not working?
Yes ... missing the postal code would certainly cause there to be no rate returned, and thus the lack of options being presented...Quote:

I did get the UPSxml module installed, and it returns shipping rates in the shipping estimator whether a user is logged in or not.
I definitely need to figure the Canada Post out, because my rates with them are really good.
If I was to reinstall just the shipping estimator files, do you know which ones I'd have to upload?

I am experiencing the same blank shipping estimator and don't know where to start finding my problem. Too bad I'm not in Canada. It looks like that got solved.
I have both USPS and UPS installed. When user is not logged in, the estimator does not list any shipping methods.
Where do I start lookiing?

Until the user adds their zip code there is nothing to show... there is nothing to calculate rates from.
Thanks, Kim, but I was even dumber than that. I had the zone set in USPS to not ship anywhere but the middle of the ocean.
Once I took out the zone, it worked like a charm.
Next thing I have learn is how to restrict the shipping methods based on product. e.g I can't send a widget via media mail.
Can you oint me in the direction of restricting USPS methods based on product?

Unless you carry things that can actually go media mail or other restricted classes it would be better to simply not offer those rates. Offer Priority and Parcel Post.
