    Default Weird garbage characters showing up after sending email

    While sending a newsletter, garbage characters started showing up as the newsletters were being sent out.

    See attached. Any clues?

    doesn't matter if it looks like grey smudge. All they are are a bunch of random characters.

    That symptom reminds me of an old mailing list I belonged to. The only acceptable format was no format. Straight text, no bold, no italics, no underline - and above all else - no attachments or images. Occasionally someone would cut/paste from a word document and all the hidden formatting would result in a 30 page email with nothing but junk like that because it just made the listserver vomit bytes.
    Is your email configured for html/text? I found this on the wiki:

    Either turn off the GZip setting in your Admin->Configuration->GZip/Compression option, or turn it off in your hosting account.
