HTML Links in Customer Comments (order update)

Just wondering if it is possible to add HTML links in customer comments when updating order status.

I seem to have success with http://www.yourwebsite.com (ie. a clickable link with the full address viewable), however can not seem to get text links to work :

(ie/ <a href="url">Link text</a> )

I do apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I couldn't find an answer.

No, it's not a built-in ability. All text that's input is parsed to prevent misuse/abuse of entering text that could compromise the site or inject XSS into the recipient's emails. Unfortunately that includes all HTML tags.
