    I don't use ezpages, so I couldn't say...
I do have a bunch of static pages in our site that I was easily able to add.

I just copied one of the generated sitemaps and changed the values to my static page URL's, and named it sitemapstaticpages.xml

Subsequently, when I ran the script, it included my new sitemap in the sitemapindex. Sweet.

Hi..you don't actually need to upload any sitemap files to the search engines...they permanently reside on your server. You just need to ping the engines to let them know to "take another look" at your sitemaps.

    Thanks!!
I have also set a cron job using cronless and I get the sitemaps updated regularly.
The only thing I do not know how to do is to auto submit the files to the search engines. I can submit them with no problem manually, but I would like to have a automatic submission using a cron job.
Can this be done? If yes, how?
    Thanks

    Hi-

You don't actually ever have to upload/submit your sitemap files..they permanently reside on your server. You just need to ping the engines on occasion to tell them to "take another look" at your sitemaps for additions/updates.

Just make sure you specify the location of the Sitemap in a robots.txt file.
    Sitemap: http://your_shop.com/sitemapindex.xml
Is your site Upgraded to the current version 1.5.4 Yet?

    ZC v1.39H

So I got a message on my Goggle Webmaster page proclaiming my sitemap to be unfit for Google.....arrogant B*stards!!!

So I did a little light reading and then downloaded this add-on.

    So of course I've questions...

    From the ReadMe.txt file:
    Install:
    ========
    1. Unzip and upload all files to your store directory; Root or Public HTML dir?

    2. Go to Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patches and install install.sql.
I haven't got that far, but seems pretty straight forward. famous last words)

    3. Go to Admin->Configuration->Google Sitemap Configuration and setup all parameters
    (See #2)

    4. Go to Admin->Tools>Google XML Sitemap (If error messages occur, change permissions on the XML files to 777);

    5. To have this update and automatically notify Google, you will need to set up a Cron
job via your host's control panel
    Huh?!? What heck is CRON?

Tried installing this add-on and got everything loaded into the correct folders.

Got to Step #2 and keep getting a "Failed" message.
(Go to Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patches and install install.sql.)

No idea where to go from here. Sure could use a hand if someone can spare a minute to help me out.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I think I'ce got this installed finally.
When I go to Admin>Tools>Sitemap xml I get the followung and have no clue if it's supposed to be there, correct, incorrect, or a plot to take over Mars.

    TEXT_SITEMAPXML_LOGIN_HEAD
    TEXT_SITEMAPXML_LOGIN
    When I go to Admin>Configuration>Sitemap xml> I get this:

    Lastmod tag format date
    Use Existing Files true
Generate language_id for default language true

    Right? Wrong? bacon?

So now that I've got this addon installed...

What do I do? I don't see a magic button that will create a sitemap or provide a link to this elusive file that google is so desperate to have.

Help me out here folks. I'm trying to figure this out but really don't know what to do now.

I've done a search through this thread for the word CREATE and none of the results told me how to actually create the applicable file.
