Simple SEO URL (OLD version) [support thread]

The category is required so that certain features on zen can work.
Right now, what you can have tho, is a shorten 1 like this
/landscape-photography-press-photography/anonymous-cutty-sark

A site I look after has had SSU installed recently after having trouble with the chemo SEO module.

Works wonderfully well, but the owner wants to know if there is a way to shorten the URLs by removing the categories from the resulting URL.

For example, is there a way to go from:

/landscape-photography-press-photography-c-32_8/anonymous-cutty-sark-p-420

to:

/anonymous-cutty-sark-p-420/

Thanks for the information, I thought that might be the case from looking at the code myself.

How would I go about rewriting the URLs that way, can it be done all-at-once, or does it have to be done category-by-category?

It is done all at once by turn on auto alias, it can also be changed as you wish using the alias manager.

first of all thank you for this great contribution!

It really rocks and having lots of benefits from this.

But i have two issues that are

1) my home page link doesn work anymore firefox is giving the error that is is going into an unendless loop (translated from dutch to english) and that its not able to load. IE just freezes when loading.

on the other hand ssu causes to load some pages in ssl those who where initially not ssl pages (bit weird imo) but they load.

For your special config (shared ssl) htaccess needed to be set up differently. Did you check yoursite.com/ssu_check.php and see what it suggests for the .htaccess content?

I have reset and deleted all I can thing of. ssu folders and then uploaded an empty one. Reset product id's. Reset all cache. Disabled auto alias, reset cached, enabled again. Still it will not get rid of -p-728 part of the url for all product in said cat.

Any idea what is going on?

See if you do use Easy Populate, that module causes problem with master category ids. You may have to reset the master categories in your store manager first.

You are right, I did use Easy Populate and I did reset the ALL Products Master Categories ID's. Then cleared all cache. No help.

Deleted the cat and reset everything and uploaded again with EP. Same result. Don't know where the problem is. No matter what I do it just won't alias the url. What else can I check?

Just for testing, I copied wedding bell box (last item) and changed the title a bit and it does rewrite the url correctly. Guess you can claim your mod is working and the problem is in combo with EP. Still urks the heck out of me...

Any ideas?
