    Default SSL Certificate required?

    Hi,

    Pre install question.

On a new installation which will be using payment processing with one of the international merchants i.e. Nochex, Moneybookers etc.

Do we still require an SSL Certificate?

    Thanks

You will need to determine the requirements they have

In general, having your login under https is a confidence matter and some will not create an account unless their information is protected

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

So are you saying that the Merchants requirments for us to have SSL may differ?

And when you talk about in general, you refer to potential customers having confidence?

Sorry to be a pain, I just want to make sure I fully understand.

    Once again thanks...

Most, if not all on-site payments processors require SSL. Even if they don't, you should have one to present your store to visitors as secure.

    Case in point...

We had a client who doggedly refused to install a SSL Cert.

For 6 months, cart abandonment was at over 80% !

Eventually we persuaded her to put in a cert. Cart abandonment went down to about 35% almost overnight.

Webshoppers now know the purpose and value of SSL.

No serious eComm site should be without it - and it is PREFERABLE to have a dedicated SSL - not shared.

    Hi Kobra,

about Login under https. I'm using dedicated SSL (not shared) and is invoked by Zen Cart only during checkout procedure. I think it's by default in Zen. But I'd like SSL to be run on Login Page ("Create an Account Page"). How i can set up this?

    Regard.

If your SSL is setup correctly and you haven't made errors in your template it should be. If it is not there is a mistake.
