I have a "thing" about the fact that instead of asking for help, you seem more interested in posting critiques.. Somewhat counter intuitive IMHO.. **shrugs*

IMHO, if you are looking for EVERYONE to provide step by step instructions for every question you ask here, IMHO you will find seeking help on this forum a frustrating experience..

Maybe I am being too cautious.
IMHO you will need to get over your trepidation about mod installs. If you plan to build this site yourself using Zen Cart, then you are going to have to get ready to roll up your sleeves and be prepared that all kinds of things will go wrong..

Nearly ALL mods (with the exception of most templates) have some folders that need to be renamed to match your own store's folders. Mod authors cannot possibly know your stores template's folder name or what you re-named your admin folder to. So you will have to be ready to roll your sleeves up and get your hands dirty when installing mods. As you do this you will see that there are some commonalities to how these mods are packaged.

Also be prepared that help isn't always gonna include the kinds of "bouncing ball" instructions you are looking for.. If something isn't clear, why not simply ask for clarification instead of posting blanket statements that provides no information on what it is you are stuck on. We're all trying to help and you seem very stuck on how the answer is structured and less on if the information posted is useful..

What I posted with regards to the file/folder structure is the SAME information Red Baron posted. Regardless of the format used to convey the information it is a relevant part of the install (hence why we BOTH mentioned it). Relevant because based on your original post, I believe that part of the issue you have is that you do not have the files/folders in the proper place on your site..

I wish you luck on setting this mod up, and to answer your question on whether or not having an XML sitemap matters.. I think the SEO experts will tell you that it certainly does. Google certainly says it does. Found this doing a simple Google search for "xml sitemap google":
Sitemaps are a way to tell Google about pages on your site we might not otherwise discover. In its simplest terms, a XML Sitemap—usually called Sitemap, with a capital S—is a list of the pages on your website. Creating and submitting a Sitemap helps make sure that Google knows about all the pages on your site, including URLs that may not be discoverable by Google's normal crawling process.

I have apparently successfully installed Sitemap XML .. to a point. Sitemap XML tab shows up in Tools in admin with all the info and a "uninstall"link at the bottom.

Under configuration in admin in Sitemap XML I have changed nothing.

Google Webmaster Tools has not rejected the submission for /sitemapindex.xml however it is still sitting there with a clock after nearly 24hrs indicating it is in limbo.

In admin/tools/sitemap xml when I tick the 3 boxes and click send I get the following errors.

    SiteMapXML (3.0.3 27.08.2011 13:11)

Any ideas what may be the problem?

If installed the latest version of this module.

When trying to create/update sitemap I get this error

    XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
    Location: http://www.mysite.com/sitemapxml/reb...lt/css/gss.xsl
    Line Number 1, Column 2:</div><h4>Ping Ask.com</h4>http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.northernscientific.com%2Fsitemapindex.xml<br /><div style="background-color: #FFFFCC); border: 1px solid #000000; padding: 5px">Your Sitemap submission was successful<br />
    -^

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I'm stumped.

This required tag is missing. Please add it and resubmit.
    Parent tag: sitemapindex
    Tag: sitemap

but testing robots.txt showed the following

    Test results
    Url Googlebot Googlebot-Mobile
    http://www.jewelleryonlinestore.com.au/
    Allowed by line 2: Disallow:
Detected as a directory; specific files may have different restrictions

    Parse results
    Value Result
Line 3: Sitemap: http://www.jewelleryonlinestore.com.au/sitemapindex.xml Valid Sitemap reference detected

    and I get this when I click on "see sitemap" in GWT sitemap submission page;
    Google Sitemap http://www.jewelleryonlinestore.com.au/sitemapindex.xml
Number of sitemaps in this Google sitemap index: 0

Click on the table headers to change sorting.

Does anyone have a solution to this issue please?

Just been reading through the last few pages of this thread and really can't work out what the song and dance is all about.
Had this installed in a couple of minutes with no problems at all.
    Great mod, thanks Andrew
