Moving an EZ-Page SideBox link to the Information SideBox?

Hi,

I have done what you suggested, schoolboy, and created an EZ pages internal link to each of the pages that were displayed in the Information box. Then I disabled the Information box.

However I can't see how to make the EZ pages sidebox appear in its place...

In Tools -> Layout Boxes Controller, I edited the sideboxes/ezpages.php setting to switch the LEFT/RIGHT COLUMN status to 'On', and the sideboxes/information.php status to 'Off'.

When I refreshed my page, the Information sidebox as gone, but there was nothing in its place - the internal links I created in EZ pages didn't show up.

I know I'm really close to getting this to work, and there's only one little piece that hasn't been clicked into place, but I just can't see what it is - any help much appreciated!

Go to TOOLS >>> EZPAGES...

Do your EZpages have a sort order greater than zero?

If an EZPage has a sort order of zero, it will not display - even if you have clicked "yes" for the sidebox location.

Oh... and also look under CONFIGURATION >>> EZ-PAGES SETTINGS.

Make sure the setting to display sidebox is set to "ON".

How do I determine the PATH?

A far more elegant solution is to move the INFORMATION links to the EZPages sidebox.

This is how...

Determine the PATH to the information sidebox links...

eg: Contact Us = index.php?main_page=contact-us How do I do this?

Then simply create internal EZPages links.

Kill the INFORMATION sidebox completely.

Now (if you want) edit english.php to change the "Important Links" header to "Information".

This method avoids hacking any code, and keeps everything within the zencart protocols.

Click each of the links in the information sidebox. In the address bar at the top of the destination page, copy everything after the website root, e.g. for the Contact Us page, copy the index.php?main_page=contact-us part. Paste this into the Internal Link field in the ez-page editing page named Contact Us.

Finally something simple enough for us newbies! This is great! I also didn't like the "Information", "More Information", E-Z Pages..too many boxes. How many EZ pages can be made?

Thanks to everyone contributing this info! Now I just need to get the dang test store moved into the root....but that's another thread.

Technically, there is no limit.

EZpages data is stored in the database.

Thanks for all you do to help others! I tried this method and when adding the ezpage I get error; Error: you have defined multiple settings when only one may be defined per Link ...
Only define either: HTML Content -or- Internal Link URL -or- External Link URL now I am confused

You can use an ez-page as a page with HTML content (write in the textarea box), an internal link (put the link in the Internal Link field) or an external link (put the link in the External Link field). Only one of these can work at a time. If you do more than one, you will get unexpected behavior or an error.

I'm trying to figure out above, but not sure if it applies
i need to move links from the ez pages to the 'information' side box
or any other side box (i know how to do the re-naming)
where does the 'important links' header come into it?
