I can send from both just fine, using plain-jane out-of-the-box Zen Cart code, as well as Thunderbird and numerous other email clients.
All I need to do in Zen Cart is set the values in the Admin->Configuration->Email Options screen as I pointed out earlier.

Why exactly are you trying to send out emails from a localhost server anyway? Surely you're not running your live server from localhost, so there's no business need for sending out emails.
Perhaps the wamp support site can help you troubleshoot your email problems. But they probably don't support what you're trying to do anyway, since they probably have an email server in wamp already that they would support.
