Image Handler 3 Support Thread (for ZC v1.3.9)

This is an Imager Handler V3 (installed on Zen-Cart 1.3.9) so this should be the right forum :-)

I recreated the png with photoshop... still gets the same damaged images.

When I have time I will install the latest version of IH to check if that fixes this issue.

I doubt that IH4 will solve the issue.. It sounds to me like the issue is with your source files.. If you are "creating" these images within Photoshop something in this process is creating a file that is corrupted/damaged. In any case the issue is not Image Handler, but something to do with your source images..

Not its really something with my installation of IH (of something else). I just used an png that I downloaded from internet (some picture of the movie Brave). Same problem!

The strange thing is that is goes wrong on my old server at home and now again at my new ubuntu vps server...

I'll do some more testing to figure out whats causing this problem.

Since this is not a commonly reported issue, it's more likely that the issue is specific to your server (again NOT an IH3 issue)..

If you are happy with working through shell you should be able to scale a test image using either imagemagick or GD. If you aren't happy with shell or don't have shell access then you could write a script to do it. There are pages and pages of instructions on how to do both these on the web. I'd do that first and see if your server is chewing up the images. I am not saying that it is but it would be a good idea to prove to yourself that it is not.

I'd guess that just upgrading to IH4 is not going to make a whole lot of difference because I do not believe ( not 100% sure here ) that the code that actually does the scaling has not been changed for a while. Bits around that core have been altered, but not that core - I believe.

Sorry not to be of more help than that but as Diva says this is not a widely reported issue.

I have followed the first four steps of the readme installation instruction.
The next step where I should copy the files from "1_Install_Files" to my store i have two queries:
1. The site is live so "my store" would mean "public_html" folder, right ?
2. The public_html folder has a folder called images, so when I tried to copy the folders i got a prompt saying images folder already exists.. should i replace the old folder? It has lots of images of the products i sell. Will they all be gone?
Apologies for the naive question but if I overwrite the images folder where will IH3 get the images to work on?

Post this question on the Facebook module support thread.. IH4 is meant to manage product and category images.. I have no idea how your Facebook module works..

When you say the images folder---are you trying to upload the entire images folder from the zip???

IF you are then yes the images you have on the server will be gone. You just upload the contents of the zipped folders NOT the entire holding folders, those are there for you to know where those items go...

images/large/its contents go into your store folder/images/large folder and so forth.

This is NOT true.. you will NOT wipe out the contents of the folder.. The prompt is because it recognizes that you are copying over a folder of the same name.. Saying yes will NOT wipe out the CONTENTS of the folder.. You will simply upload the content that does not already exist in the folder.. Test it out for yourself to confirm what I am saying..
