I have my test site up now. I merged these files together. I just have one issue. The site is http://onlineorder.sshorepizza.com across the top of the page is a navigation bar. It has all the categories listed there. I like having it there but I'm sure I can turn it off just haven't found where. Ideally though I'd like to modify the file that makes this category listing. I think it is found at onlineorder/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_modules_categories_tabs.php I'm not positive. I was going to try and merge that with the sidebox template but can't figure out what I would put where. Can you give me any help with this? Other than this one issue it seems to be working. I can't search for the items and can't see them in the category sidebox.

The Categories tab is already included in the hideCategories module.. (see the changelog, this was added in v2.00) Hidden categories should not appear in the categories tab..

Okay so the problem I have now is the test site is identical to the real site. I used filezilla to just copy everything from the store domain to the test site. I then created a opened every category and resaved it. Then created a new category and marked it hidden(not the one with direct link required but just hidden). I created a product called RCS gave it a description of RCS. On the test site I cannot search for RCS and find it. On the real site I can search for it and find it. Unfortunately on the test site I cannot find anything via search. I have recopied the files from the real site to the test site in the folders includes/modules/pages/advanced_search and includes/modules/pages/advanced_search_result So I cannot find hidden or non hidden. Can you help with this?

need the link to both the live and test site.. (edited to add: the link you provided above doesn't work) and to solve the issue you are going to need to use your file comparison program to compare your live site to your test site to see what's different between the two.. I don't use WinMerge so I don't know if it will allow you to do this directly from your host (Beyond Compare allows you to compare files from your host). If it doesn't allow you compare directly on the host, then you will need to download both sites and compare the files between the two..

So as has been reported by others, the search does not work for me either on my test store.. I don't know why, and it's over my head to fix, so I'm not going to attempt it.. If someone else wants to tackle this, they can feel free to do so.. In the meantime I will submit the updated fileset that works with Zen Cart v1.5 with this caveat clearly documented..

Try the file header_php.php file attached see if that works for you. This is unedited without any other mods installed. I take no credit or responsibility, backup your original first.

Simply upload it to includes/modules/pages/advanced_search_result/header_php.php it is for 1.5.1 version

I've installed the latest version of this mod (2.1) and it looks like it includes the changes below. However, when I search, I get no results, even for categories that are not hidden. If I put back the original advanced_search_result/header_php.php file, the products all show up, but it includes the products from the hidden categories. I have checked and rechecked all the files and I just don't know what is causing this problem.

Alrighty, I think I've got it.

MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU MAKE THIS CHANGE BECAUSE THIS ISN'T AN OVERRIDE FILE and it worked for me, but I'm not 100% sure it is correct.

In includes/modules/pages/advanced_search_result/header.php, find

All I did was utilize the code from hideCategories/includes/modules/sideboxes/my_template/whats_new.php and adapted it to fit the search code.

Hopefully it will continue to work and not cause issues with any of my other mods but I would appreciate feedback from someone who knows code as to whether it is the appropriate way to handle this situation.

Regardless of hidden or not I get 0 results on the test site. Almost like the code is broken. However when I put the original zen-cart v 1.5.1 header_php.php file back on the test site I still cannot get any results. Perhaps if your search works you could post the entire file? Maybe that could help resolve it. I'm stumped since neither file works.

Gonnna post my reply to you in the other thread you started on this same topic here so the information is available to all..

The readme and the SQL file for hideCategories VERY clearly says that the SQL file does nothing but create ONE table that is used by ONLY by hideCategories.

As I reported on the hideCategories support thread, the modifications to the includes/pages/advanced_search_results/header.php.php file included in hideCategories Version: 2.1 do not work and causes the issue the OP is reporting (the search doesn't find ANYTHING). hideCategories Version: 2.1 was the version where this file is introduced. (there were no other changes) I will NOT be attempting to fix this as I'm not entirely sure why it worked for Zen Cart v1.3.9, and does not work with Zen Cart v1.5.x. It is addmittedly over my head to fix, which is why I won't attempt it. I will in fact exclude this file from the upcoming version of hideCategories I will be submitting (updated for Zen Cart v1.5.1)

My advice to the OP mimics yours.. Get the test site to match the live site..

After he does that, THEN install hideCategories WITHOUT the modified includes/pages/advanced_search_results/header.php.php file. (suggest installing hideCategories - Version: 2.0)

So the file that was breaking the search engine was located at

The one I kept being told was the problem was
