    Default Cpanel editing

Good morning all the Zen Cart Gurus!

I have a problem I have not been able to figure out -

    ZC1.3.9h
    Windows
    Firefox current version

I have been trying to edit my home page using the cpanel - it is easy for me to use and I can trace the file paths easily without getting confused. The problem was discovered about 6 months ago when I was unable to visualize the changes on the browser. ie the page source did not match what was in my cpanel file. I put this problem on the back burner and now I will need to deal with it.

    This is includes/template/stitch/define_main_page.php

This is the first part of my cpanel file

I've never used CPanel to edit files, but try looking at define_main_page.php using the Admin - Tools - Define Pages Editor. Your issue probably has to do with file permissions, which you can examine using the CPanel File Manager.

644 should be good. Are you sure you're editing the right file ? The path you listed isn't where that file belongs. It should be includes/languages/english/html_includes/stitch/define_main_page.php

Let me take a look at this tomarrow and This is probably the issue - I will often find that these files are difficult to find. TY
I will confrim this and let you know.
Is there an easy way to locate the file that goes with the area to be changed?
I have been looking for the file for the place where I put our NEW addres just under the breadcrumbs and can not figure that one out.

For the define pages, the best way to make sure you're editing the right file would be to use the Define Pages Editor in admin and start to wean yourself from the CPanel File Manager.

In addition to what stevesh said and not sure what capability your version of ZC has, but more recent versions include a developer tool kit under tools that allows the user to search for specific text in the files. That would help identify which file to modify, and if it happens to be one of the files that has a specific editor as stevesh has pointed out, at least then you'll know more about it.

The DTK has been part of the Zen Cart admin since at least v1.2.something, 9 years or more.

Thanks, I came in with 1.3.9 something version, for a month, saw the new version of 1.5.0 and jumped shipto ensure PCI compliance. Didn't really "discover" the DTK until after that. In my effort to help others, haven't wanted to suggest a useful tool such as it if it didn't exist on a previousversion. Also I didn't remember seeing what version the OP was using, so approached cautiously.
