echecks/money orders

Our site has been running very well with Zencart and Paypal for about 6 months except for echecks/money orders. It says moneyorder, but I can't tell exactly which one if but it says money order every time. We have had about 6 or 8, not many, but every single one of them has just sat there in the pending status until I finally cancelled them weeks later. I have emailed the customers but no responses. Course I waited about 10-20 days or more to do it. I'm thinking something may be setup wrong. I just got another one too. Does the pending status automatically change to processing when it has cleared? Should I be expecting a paper check in the mail, which I have never received yet? Any help would be appreciated as to what I should be expecting to see and any setup possibilities. We have Paypal Express running and installed. It didn't work before we converted from standard either.

PayPal/echecks and Check/money orders are two different modules.

For PayPal/echecks, yes. for checks/money orders, no.

Should I be expecting a paper check in the mail, which I have never received yet?

For checks/money orders, yes. For PayPal/echecks, no.

Thanks for your response. The orders screen just says money order so I assume that literally means a paper money order would come in the mail. Correct? Does it say echeck (Paypal echeck) if that is what is selected?

Correct.

FWIW, in my experience, in most cases, when this option is selected the money order/check is rarely forthcoming.

Does it say echeck (Paypal echeck) if that is what is selected?

Yes. In fact it comes in like a regular PayPal payment, complete with a transaction number, etc... but the payment type is identified as 'echeck' (rather than 'instant', or whatever).

In addition to this you'll also get an email from PayPal advising you to not process the order until the echeck has been cleared. Another email is sent (and the store info updated) when it has been cleared.
