Cannot login to admin - was able to yesterday

Yesterday I went in to my admin panel after being away for a few months and enabled my paypal. The next morning I tried to login and no luck. I input my user name and password and there is no error.... the screen just refreshes and let's me try again. I'm fairly certain the system would respond with bad user name or wrong password so I don't want to do anything until I run this by some one that may have experience. Thx

It turns out the bookmarked link I used to get to the site may have been the problem... when I just used the website with admin location it came up with a different screen saying I had not logged on in 90 days and need to re-create a new password. Problem solved.

Although the general problem is solved, there are some unanswered questions/discussion.

Normally there should be an onscreen notification regarding the inability to login; however, notification of incorrect login information (provided the username is correct) is provided via email to the email address on file for the user if several unsuccessful attempts are made to login to the account. Sufficient attempts within a short time period will temporarily disable the account. But no message onscreen will be provided about the specifics of the problem. (Will not say password is wrong or loginid, but something along the lines that credentials were incorrect...)
