Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread

Just installed the latest IH for 1.5.4 with no problems and works perfectly just as intended.

I have an issue and I don't really know how to articulate what the problem is.

Some of my images will appear in Image Handler 4, and some of them will not. With the ones that will not, it appears from looking at html source that the module just stops building code to show the images mid-stream. It happens with some newer files that my warehouse coordinator has loaded up. I have checked the file locations and everything is correct. I am not sure if the files are being saved to BMZ_CACHE or not.

Any insight would help. Thank you in advance.

You are going to have to give us more information about the newer images that aren't loading.. (format, file size, error logs that you may be seeing, file naming samples, etc) Otherwise we'd all have to GUESS what the issue is. Guessing without information isn't generally a helpful exercise..

and as I have stated (JUST RECENTLY in fact -- see the last few pages of this support thread..)

the GD binaries actually do the "heavy lifting" in IH4. Perhaps this issue is a symptom of a server configuration limit which will terminate processing before the GD binaries can finish the image processing. Now this could be a simple server configuration change to increase memory limits so that GD can finish processing your images, but the MOST likely cause is that your original images are too large to begin with and your host's servers limits will ALWAYS stop the GD processing..

So without more information, the community can't help you with an issue that isn't widely reported..

And surprisingly not commented for request is the site on which this issue is occuring (preferably specific links of where this seems to be working properly and where not). That alone could reveal a wealth of information.

A wealth of information, yes, however, a wealth of information I cannot disclose on a public forum without earning myself a trip to my company's information security office for a lecture on releasing proprietary business information on an open forum.

However, with that said, you both have started me down a path that I may be able to resolve shortly as soon as I take a look at the images. I suspect that the photos may be too large to process.

Yup, that was it. It's been a little over two years from when I did the original work on the site, so I totally spaced the limitations of the software. Thanks!

This wasn't my post, but - I installed IH4 4.3.2 on my zc 1.5.4 test site on Apr 16th and everything appears to be working correctly. I had compared this to the github version I found via forum (maybe wrong version?)with winmerge and only differences I found were in the title version notations at the top of each file. By 'working correctly' I mean adding and resizing new product images, additional images. Photos already existing are displayed in the right places but the image sizes aren't created unless I delete and re-add the photo which I didn't consider onerous. My test site is a rebuilt of my live zc 1.3.9 site which uses IH3.

Have I missed something about IH4.3.2 that I should be installing Github version?
