Is there a reason I can't override currencies sidebox?

I'm not new at this. I understand the override system (I think). I'm beating my head against a wall because I see no reason this shouldn't work.

I have my new files:

Code:

/includes/templates/CUSTOM/sideboxes/tpl_currencies.php
/includes/modules/sideboxes/CUSTOM/currencies.php

yet they are being ignored. I've confirmed that the system is still looking at /includes/modules/sideboxes/currencies.php instead of the one in CUSTOM.

Wild guess but what are the permissions on your new files

Did you go into the Tools ... Layout Boxes Controller ... and turn on the sidebox for your template?

You wrote "CUSTOM". Is that literally the name of the folder of the template you've currently got active? If the foldername of the template you've made active is "classic" or "fred" then it will be looking for "classic" or "fred" as the foldername, not "CUSTOM".

And then, as Ajeh mentioned, you'll need to enable that sidebox using the layout controller.

Yes, I enabled in admin. I tried left/right and single and both.

No Dr Byte, it isn't CUSTOM, that just seems to be a convention 'round here for examples so I went with it. I've got modules overridden just fine, as well as another sidebox. I wondered if something was up with currencies in particular. This is my first kick at 1.5.4 so I also wondered if something changed that hasn't been documented.

Ok. I can't imagine it is something I did since it is a fresh copy of 1.5.4 with no mods other than within templates.

Well, almost fresh. It was with an updated-from-139 database. Could that matter?

Anyway, if nobody has done a test to confirm they can override that particular box then I might suggest you try to make sure you don't have a bug, otherwise don't worry about it. I've just made a backup of the original file and modified rather than overrided.

Just started over (yet ANOTHER fresh install) and same thing. Can't override that sidebox.

Weird thing that I noticed this time that may or may not have been the case last time (probably was) is that in the admin->tools->layout boxes controller the correct overridden path is shown in red for that sidebox. Yet in the front office, it absolutely is not being used. The default one is.

Weird.

Nevermind... I figured it out. It has something to do with my database because I started yet again with a clean DB and it works.
