Re: IP address before domain name

What are the settings for HTTP_SERVER and HTTPS_SERVER in your site's /includes/configure.php and /YOUR_ADMIN/includes/configure.php?

Thanks in advanceYour URL of mcqentertainment.co.uk does resolve correctly to that IP address. A standard install should have take care of that unless your domain name was new and had not propagated before the installation.

It appears that you do not have an SSL certificate for the site as it does not go to secure even if logging in.

For now, you can change each of the 16.32.240.41 to mcqentertainment.co.uk. No other change is needed UNTIL you get an SSL certificate.

You need to obtain an SSL and pay attention whether it is for www on non-www. If the cert is for https://mcqentertainment.co.uk, both configure.php should readdefine('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://mcqentertainment.co.uk'); define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://mcqentertainment.co.uk');and define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');If the cert is for https://www.mcqentertainmetn.co.uk, thendefine('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.mcqentertainment.co.uk'); define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.mcqentertainment.co.uk');and ```
define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');

Re: IP address before domain name

leon2lil:

Hi,

When i change it to what you have suggested all links go dead but main page, and it creates links like the following
http://mcqentertainment.co.uk//mcqentertainment.co.uk/acosutics-soundproofing
Then what are the values/settings for:
DIR_WS_CATALOG
and
DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG?

The changes made apply to or should be in accordance to: https://docs.zen-cart.com/user/installing/enable_ssl/
That link identifies what dbltoe has just described; however, it appears that there is more at play here because of some other misconfiguration either within ZC or by way of an added .htaccess file.

For an explanation of the parts of the configure.php file see here: https://docs.zen-cart.com/user/miscellaneous/configure/

Or there could perhaps be some sort of leftover cache issue in the browser (From a PC, press shift-F5 to reload the page and clear the cache for that page)

Re: IP address before domain name

Hi
Sorry for the late reply, 2020 has been a weird year.
I've only been able to get back to this now, which I haven't figured out yet

The admin one originally was

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://46.32.240.41');

define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://46.32.240.41');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://46.32.240.41');

When i change it to as suggested as below
It changes the admin section to http://www.mcqentertainment.co.uk/*****Admin/mcqentertainment.co.uk/*****renamed_admin_dir/
And says it's forbidden

define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://mcqentertainment.co.uk');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://mcqentertainment.co.uk');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/mcqentertainment.co.uk/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/mcqentertainment.co.uk/');

In the includes one it was orignally

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://46.32.240.41');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://46.32.240.41');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/mcqentertainment.co.uk/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/mcqentertainment.co.uk/');

When I change it to below
Homepage works but all images go and link look like http://mcqentertainment.co.uk/mcqentertainment.co.uk/headshells-cartridges-styli
Also if i change it just a slash '/' on the catalog section. Images come back but links still double and 404 errors still come up

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://mcqentertainment.co.uk');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'http://mcqentertainment.co.uk');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/mcqentertainment.co.uk/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/mcqentertainment.co.uk/');

Re: IP address before domain name

Based on the above, all DIR_WS defines should just be '/'. Your domain name with https: protocol should be in all HTTP defines with no ending slash.

The DIR_WS defines represent any Web facing sub-directory in which your store is located. When you were using the ip address, that was the address to the server and the store was located in a sub-directory after that... now that using domain name, the store location resolves to your site and therefore there is no web-facing sub-directory...

As to the rest, may need to refresh/clear cookies and/or cache. (Ctrl-F5 on most PC browsers. Ctr-Shift-R on mac).

Re: IP address before domain name

Hi
Thanks for the help I've partially figured it out.
I can't for the life of me get the admin section sorted but I don't think it's gonna be an issue. It either double or (since yesterday) triple the mcqentertainment/ part
I can get the to storefront work if I disable ceons uri mapping so that might be installed wrong so I might try to reinstall that.

But if that's not the case
Is there any other files that affect this

Or as a last resort is will a full reinstall fix this.

Ahh... well, if that is fully installed as in made fully operational, then yes there is another file to touch/review/modify... that would be the .htaccess file that has been added to the store front folder...

I would suggest to temporarily either remove the file (rename it) or to comment out the section(s) related to the Ceon URI software.
Then, access the admin and use the Ceon URI software to suggest the new content for the .htaccess file.
Modify/update the htaccess file for the new suggestion.

And actually, may want to do the above with the store in maintenance mode, etc...
Anyways, Ceon URI may not be installed wrong especially if things were working before but are not now that the file(s) have been changed... especially since basically there was a sub-directory for the store and now there is not...

The uris are likely going to need to be re-calculated so that the new uri that doesn't double/triple need the domain name in it will be recognized.

Note, it's important to indicate anything done to the store software/database that is different from a plain old install. Such information helps track down the problem/issue(s).

Re: IP address before domain name

Hi.
Sorry
I should of mentioned.
It says it's installed okay and I did what you said.
It just gives not found errors everywhere but the home page, even if I manually create the link instead let it auto create and remove the second mcqentertainments. It still gives a 404 error. I added the slash as it suggests and it still does.

Also all my ez pages have gone down to with it off so another thing to figure out

Re: IP address before domain name

You need to use the # button in the button bar above to show us both configure.php files' content. Use ****** where it is usernames, passwords, or your admin directory.

And, you need to make sure any URL rewrite is fully turned off till you get this sorted.

Re: IP address before domain name

At the moment, store side uris appear correct at least off of the main page. They appear to be standard ZC dynamic URIs. Rewritten (human readable) URIs will not work (without the previous /mcqentertainment.co.uk subdirectory) until the module has been restored, the .htaccess setup to use the new path that will not include that sub-directory as part of the .htaccess content. Then to again simplify the path to the items, the URIs will need to be made to be new and to exist off of your new/current path. Until then, the old uris will be shown to all and still be functional. Once the new uris are made (without deleting the database content) the old uris will point to the new one(s).

Would suggest in addition to dbltoe's content to be posted that the content of the .htaccess file be posted. Remember though that the admin directory name might be in the .htaccess content as well so do the same as suggested above of "hiding" it when posting.

Re: IP address before domain name

Hi Everyone.

Thanks for all your help.
I'm solved 90 % now. I had to reinstall ceon for it tell me what was incorrect with the install. Also it changed it's rewrite rule. So seriously thank you for all the guidance.

The only thing that isn't working is Sitemapxml which is still adding the second mcqenterainments and giving me a forbidden error, but that the least of my worries.

Thanks again

Again, in your configure.php the DIR_WS_CATALOG and/or DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG would be suspect.
In both configure.php files, none of your DIR_WS_anything should have mcqentertainments in it.

Just an observation here. If you come to the forum seeking help and four people with a total of nearly 99,000 posts ask for information, you might want to speed things up by providing it.

:please:

Just sayin'

Re: IP address before domain name

Hi,
Dbltoe
Think you the wrong end of the stick
I was saying I can't be bothered with sitemap xml and thanks to everyone for getting it to work to the point it is. There is way more important things for me to sort out as we in the middle of lockdown in the UK.

Drbyte
It doesn't work with just slash everything goes down. Funny enough when i reinstalled ceon, it said it couldn't be just a slash.
But as I've done a more thorough test now and everything but sitemap works. I'm fine with that.

Again I would like to thank everyone for there help
You can close or delete this thread if you want.

Truly Grateful

Re: IP address before domain name

I'm sorry if you thought I was coming at you with anything other than frustration.

You are not letting us help. And, you are sadly mistaken if you think a pretty URL is better than Google and the other SEs knowing where your items are located in your store. Sitemap is far too important to just dismiss.

If you took your car to a mechanic because it wasn't running correctly, would you not let him look under the bonnet?

Is there some reason you think providing your configure.php files with ****** for sensitive data is not possible? Did you ever look to see if there is an .htaccess in your root?

Don't give up on the forum but do try to understand that questions are asked of you for a reason. There are still some problems on your site that we can help with.

Anyway, I wish you well. We've been quarantined eight months now as both the wife and I are high risk.

Re: IP address before domain name

Hi
I just didn't want you getting more frustrated waiting around. I only check this in the morning or normally before I end my day
I got another 4000k products to put up and to be honest we a small family business it is normally used a catalogue then a transactional website. The people come in the door. But this the only time I will have to put products up. Not that you asked but that was reason for the delays.

Top is admin
Bottom is includes

I did check for htaacess there is one where there public html folder is which is pretty much blank
Then there is one with the rewrite rule inside that where the admin folder and the rest of the folder is

Re: IP address before domain name

Yep, lots wrong with the configure.php. A mixture that could not have been thoroughly seen without both configure files completely presented.

We can make some headway now.

One thing you need to check is where I have the ?????? I don't know if the physical path is wrong or right. It is not standard per se BUT they are consistent and probably okay. You just need to check for sure.

With errors and questions in red, the admin should look like```

<?php/** * @package Configuration Settings * @copyright Copyright 2003-2018 Zen Cart Development Team * @copyright Portions Copyright 2003 osCommerce * @license http://www.zen-cart.com/license/2_0.txt GNU Public License V2.0 * File Built by Zen Cart Installer on Mon Jan 06 2020 23:43:32 */ /*************** NOTE: This file is VERY similar to, but DIFFERENT from the "store" version of configure.php. ***********/ /*************** The 2 files should be kept separate and not used to overwrite each other. ***********/ /** * Enter the domain for your Admin URL. If you have SSL, enter the correct https address in the HTTP_SERVER setting, instead of just an http address. */ define('HTTP_SERVER', 'https://mcqentertainment.co.uk'); /** * Note about HTTPS_SERVER: * There is no longer an HTTPS_SERVER setting for the Admin. Instead, put your SSL URL in the HTTP_SERVER setting above. */ /** * Note about DIR_WS_ADMIN * The DIR_WS_ADMIN value is now auto-detected. * In the rare case where it cannot be detected properly, you can add your own DIR_WS_ADMIN definition below. */ /** * Enter the domain for your storefront URL. * Enter a separate SSL URL in HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER if your store supports SSL. */ define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://mcqentertainment.co.uk'); define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://mcqentertainment.co.uk'); /** * Do you use SSL for your customers login/checkout on the storefront?
