set mximum savings for a discount code

hi guys
is there a way to set the maximum saving or maximum order for a coupn code

for example if i offer 25% off for new cuistomers can i either set it to maximum order of £200 for example or set a maximum saving to say £50 so that of they were to spend £1000 on first order they wouldnt save more than the set amount of £50 ( or what ever) but if they only spent for eample £10 then it would just discount 25% as normal ( £2.50 off on a £10 order)

You would need to modify the includes/modules/order_total/ot_coupon.php file and add a field to the coupons table.

The functions for the operation would need to be rewritten as well.

A fairly daunting task unless you really know your way around PHP development.

As an option, you can apply coupons with specific values to specific categories or products using the Restrictions button in Admin > Discounts > Coupon Admin. That may work until you can find someone to work with you on a mod.

Unfortunately the suggest of specific value coupons wouldnt work as we have given away literally 100’s of businesses cards with 25% off coupon on so it needs to be a percentage discount and cover all products on the site

I find the idea very interesting and if testing goes well, I'll PR - might be a welcome feature in Zen Cart.
