Tabbed Products ''LITE'' version - Delimiter based

Now that I have set up my store using Tabbed Products I have found something I think would be a neat feature to have if it were possible to do so.

When you add a product you first go to the preview page so that you can see how everything looks. Would it be possible for this page to interpet the Tabbed products and show us how it will look in the end?

As it is now I have to include the product then go to the front side of the store and pull up that product and make sure that the tabs look right and so forth. Its not a big hassle as I just made a template of the tabs I use and put them into a notepad and just cut and paste or fill out the information I want then cut and paste all that into the product description on the admin side when you are adding the product so I have had consistent results. It would just be nice to see it all on the preview page if possible.

Ya, I thought about doing that a while back.. but initially when i first named it LITE i was so high on the horse with making all the changes to one file, that I wanted to leave it at that. Of course, now that I've spanned it across more files and even the database, I guess you are right. It would be handy to have that there.

Another idea was to have little checkboxes on the new product page that would auto-add the tags so you could just click them to add them. I have actually been working on a popup style window for that so that I dont make it easy to add to any new product page (music, document, etc)

I will also look again into the preview area as well.

2)does the tab 'customer also purchased' require a cross sell module?
3)is a rounded corner tab style possible? just like nifty zen template?

1. The Read reviews tab is a conundrum because i would need to replicate the code ... It "could" be done and I've thought about making it... i have been reluctant to because it could mean more maintenance, but considering how this project grows, and how much code I've already begun to replicate, it might just be worth it. That and the Tell a Friend button.

2. Customers Also Purchased is completely seperate from Cross Sell. Cross Sell is a 3rd party contrib that is also supported by tabbed products lite, but not required. Customers Also Purchased is a core zen-cart feature.

3. I've dabbled in the nifty rounded corner world a bit but am still not that proficient in knowing how to implement it in the tabs. perhaps sometime in the future.

In asking for things or improvements, however you want to look at them I have to consider a few things:

1. This contrib is completely free.
2. Its awesomely supported.
3. Its been continually improved, imparting to me that valuable time and effort is spent on it.

So when I consider the above facts, I am timid in saying 'hey, how about you do this'. So please understand, I know you invest your valuable personal time in this project and I surely hope that ZC sees the value of it and makes it part of the core install.

That said, when I first started using Tabbed Products, one thing that did occur to me was it would be nice (I say these things having NO idea of what would be involved in implementing them) if I could perhaps 'pre-define' tab names and then somehow point and click. I want to use this tab, heres the text/html/xml for that tab, then next I want this tab include and here is the text for it and so on. Then click, see the preview and confirm or hit back to go and make any corrections.

My experience with PHP has been solely at the hands of Joomla CMS where Ive dived in simply to make minor and mostly pretty obvious corrections. Stuff that would cause validation errors and the like. When it comes to actually writing PHP to create something, well, I just aint there yet. Having said that, I would be more than willing to beta test anything, I have ZC set up on my laptop as well as a localhost server. So if I can help out in that way, let me know.

I am nearly done with all the products Im going to add to ZC for now and each and everyone of them has been done with Tabbed Products. I came up with a very nice workflow that got things done in a hurry so now Im at the stage where I would need things to be backwards compatible if any updates were made but with the way Tabbed Products works I dont think that would be a major issue.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling. If you need someone to try things out let me know. I cant offer any real coding experience, but you're making an effort to bring an awesome contrib to the community, I'll do what I can if you need that kind of help.

Oh, by the way. Why in the world are my email notifications to replies to this thread not working. Actually, they aren't working on any thread I have subscribed to. Ive clicked on 'Instand email notification' in the drop down, and I get nothing. Anyway, thanks again for an awesome contrib.

I downloaded your tabbed lite version 3.7 and i unzipped the Admin Edition but there is no "TabbedProducts_v3.7_Full.sql" included.

Instead, the two sqls included are "TabbedProducts_v3.6_Full_AlternativeForSQLProblems.sql" and "TabbedProducts_v3.6_FullwithDelete".

Lastly, do you have to upload all files under includes/templates/custom_template/templates even if you're not using some of them? i see myself only using the tpl_product_info_display.

I knew there was something I forgot to rename! Yes use the 3.6FULLWithDelete version. Its the same version I was just gonna update the number.

You dont have to if you are not planning on using the music product or freeshipping product. Just upload all files except those two templates.

if you are one of those lucky people to be having this situation, (its unclear why, but it seems to be the way certain webhosts holds the value of a mysql variable during sql code insertion) you can use the AlternativeforSQLProblems file. Just run that and it will autocorrect your problem. :)



ALSO as an update:

I've got a few new features coming up.

First: Tabs on the preview page after updating a product description so you can see what it looks like before hitting update.

Second: Read Reviews as its own tab is working as well :)
