    Default Re: Sales report 2.0

I'm just had sales report 2.0 installed and it is great! One problem I am having. Some of my orders appear on the report twice. How can that happen. My report is set up as follows:

    This month
    Status: Shipped
    Timeframe: Daily
    +order line items

I have an order that was on 10-23 and it is also showing up as an order for 10-24. Same order number, customer, total, etc.

I also had an order that I split using Super Orders and it didn't do what I wanted. I deleted the earlier order and modified the newly split order to be the remaining order. This order is also showing up twice. Once with today's date with the newly created order number, but it's also showing up on the original date of the order (10-22) with the newly created order number, too.

    Any ideas?

If you are searching based on date assigned status, make sure that the assigned status is only assigned once. If it appears more than once, and both dates fit your search criteria, then it will be listed twice. I deal with this issue on a routine basis in my own company.

I would add code to prevent this, but how can the report know which date is the correct one when it appears twice? Further, what if only one date appears on the report, then you run it at a later date to pick up the second? Now you've got the order recorded twice on your books, not good.

Ah, you got it! That's exactly what my problem was. I went in and removed the duplicate statuses and now it's great! Thank you SO much!

I just installed the update and am thrilled to get the manufacturer filter. Thank you.

    That said...

When running the report by manufacturer and product line items for 1 day and 1 manufacturer (to get a feel for it), I'm finding that the one item that sold for that manufacturer yesterday at a selling price of $1.50 is reporting as $1500.00 in the total column. There are 1000 items in stock, so obviously it is multiplying the purchase price by the quantity in stock rather than the purchased quantity of 1.

While I'm sure my designer/manufacturer would love to get paid $1500.00 for her single $1.50 item... I however do not wish to pay her that ;)

What do I need to change to make this pull from the proper qty field?

The report does not do any calculation of the sort you are describing. It doesn't look at the in-stock quantity, only calculates from actual ordered products.

You could run some more reports to try and deduce where the issue is originating. For instance, change it from "Product Line Items" to "Order Line Items," leaving all the other criteria the same. Check the orders that appear and make sure you're not missing orders that have sold quantity of your product, and that someone did not, in fact, actually order 1000 of them.

    Thanks for the response.

I promise you, noone has ordered 1000 of any single product on my site (it's all digital downloads - there would be no point in ordering 1000).

I have run this report in every possible configuration I can think of - including running the report as you describe. The totals come out perfectly in every report - except when run by manufacturer.

Since there are no calculations being done here, perhaps the decimal point is off somewhere in the 'by single manufacturer report'?

Any idea if attributes will be accounted for anytime soon? In the older version of Sales Report, the attribs were at least listed next to the Product Name. That was really helpful. Is it possible for me to set the new SR to show this info or is it coming in a future release?

Thanks. I really do love this contrib and lots of the new features. I just really need that one.

But I didn't actually touch the calculations to add this filter, so I don't see how the proverbial decimal point is off. Still, I'll try some further debugging.

The Sales Report does not have any features like that, it sounds like your store has an admin security module installed. If you're not the one responsible for setting it up (it sounds like you're not), I suggest you contact whoever did.

I currently have no plans to display attributes as you described. In fact, I removed that display delibrately, as it simply didn't work well. Attributes differ from order to order, and therefore make it impossible to display products in total on a single line. Text attributes look even worse, as they stretch the columns out and push onto multiple lines.

As I said earlier in the thread, this is not the primary purpose of a sales report, and you should ask yourself exactly what information you're seeking. With SR, you should be looking for dollars and cents (or pounds, or yen, or rupees...). You simply cannot calculate sales totals and display product attribute details in the same report nicely.

Sorry if I opened a can of worms with the attributes question.

My dilemma is that my client pays me comissions based on downloads but not for other product sales. Many products are available both ways and more downloads are being added all the time. This makes reporting and calculating my pay difficult.

In the old version of Sales Report, the attributes were at least listed so we could tell at a glance whether ANY downloads of that product were sold.

Does anyone know of another module out there that might accomplish what I need? Maybe something for inventory management?

    Thanks for your help.
