And I take it back: it doesn't work fine. Even though it works if the only item in the cart is the one that the coupon brings down to 0, if you then go add a product with a value, then the zen free charge is still the only means of payment, the credit card option doesn't show up even though the order isn't 0 anymore!

You changed the test to something that is always evaluating as true on the or statement ...

I took it out because it didn't work correctly, but that being said, now that I am back to square one, I still don't have the behavior that the Zen cart free charge comes up once the coupon is applied to make the order total zero. Is that the way the cart is built by default, meaning mine is malfunctioning?

Bad news ... moving this to the Bug Reports to remind me to figure out what to do on orders that use 100% Discount Coupons and go to $0.00

Thought we had that fixed a long time ago ...

Ok, thanks, that's good to know because now I can stop frantically sifting through my admin settings to see if I accidentally jacked something up.

For the time being I edited the checkout payment file to have a note under Payment Method that says "You do not have to enter your credict card information if your order total is 0." But it would be slicker if it kept track...

I also want to link this back to a thread I posted earlier which I believe you replied to, which I think might be tied into this problem as well because it relates to the 100% coupon issue:

So if I understand this correctly, I should install the Zen Charge Free CHarge Card for my items I have listed as Free in my store so customer can download those items without seeing the error Not Accepting Payments From Your Area?

I do occasionly test my store and was doing the free download as the item purchased.

Also - If they buy something from store and get the free download, will the Zen Cart Charge Card show or just my selected payment methods?

If you install the Payment module Zen Cart Free Charger freecharger and the Shipping module Free Shipping freeshipper ...

When the Shipping is 0.00 ... either the Free Shipping freeshipper will show and all others will hide or the Shipping page is skipped such as with Downloads as Downloads do not need Shipping ... Note: Downloads are NOT Virtual Products ...

When the order is 0.00 based on product charges and shipping charges ... only the Zen Cart Free Charger freecharger will show and all other payment modules will disappear as there are not other payment methods that apply ...

Hi,
I see this thread is old but maybe someone is still checking it.

I am using the latest version of Zencart, and so far I love it but getting the downloads and payments are a pain for me.

I have only downloadable products. I think I have everything set up properly in the attributes, the payment modules and such. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on. I am not a programmer so my PHP knowledge is only what I pick up on here and forging ahead into the files and seeing what the code says. :-)

My problem so far, is I have freebies on my site too. Downloads that are free. I have enable the free Zen card and also free shipping and everything goes well on the freebies, it even selects the free Zen card as payment and shows the total as zero. But when you do that final confirmation, it says NOTE: Downloads are not available until payment has been confirmed. and won't give a download link. Why it says payment is a puzzle since it's listed as 0 cost and uses the Free Zencard and no shipping. I can't figure it out. If I'm having problems with the freebies, Lord only knows what I'll hit when paying customers show up.

My three payment options are paypal express, paypal standard and the free Zencard. Any suggestions would be wonderful. The settings for my free shipping module are:

If you only have Downloads and are seeing the checkout_shipping then your products are not set up correctly ...

Downloads should be setup as:

Product is Virtual: No, Shipping Address Required

Always Free Shipping: No, Normal Shipping Rules

On the Free Charger, you need to set the Order Status to Processing (orders_status = 2) or Delivered (orders_status = 3) so that the Download is available immediately, otherwise you have to change the Orders Status on the Free Charge manually on each order ...

Also check the settings on the Configuration ... Attribute Settings ... for:

Downloads Controller Update Status Value 4
Downloads Controller Order Status Value >= lower value 2
Downloads Controller Order Status Value <= upper value 4

Then check in the Attributes Controller for the Product that the Days and Downloads on the Attribute setting for the Download that you have set and that the filename has a green dot next to it on the Attribute itself ...
