Add Text to Products (Greeting Cards)

hello--1st post

currently making a little shop to sell greeting cards and few other items... i think i saw a product in the sample shop where you could add text... hmmm. i can't seem to find it now--but, before i ask for directions to it...

is there a way to incorporate the text option at checkout and collectively...like so i wouldn't have to include it for every greeting card--just a 1 time thing?

No so easily at the checkout, but you can add an attribute to the product itself (or as many or few products as you wish) to collect this greeting text. There's more info here in the FAQ.

yeah....thx... seems a little xtreme to do it for every product...hmmm?

especially with a smaller store like mine.... i think i'll add an email custom order feature

Not really. Just a matter of defining the attribute and then attaching it to those products or groups of products where it's applicable, It only gets extreme when there's a large number of products involved.

But, hey, your approach may work just as well. That's one of the joys of Zen Cart, you're not tied in to a developper's view of how things should be done.

I'd be interested in hearing about how to attach an email interface to a custom order.

Will you code from scratch or does there exist some prior work that could be leveraged?
