    Default Two issues...

Hi all, I have two issues currently on the site I'm working on. If you go to www.handyangel.com I am seeing HEADING_TITLE at the top of the main page. I need to get rid of that...not sure how it appeared in the first place. Secondly I am on my laptop with a 17 inch screen. It appears to me that on the main page, the description box exceeds the space limit of the banner. In other words the description box appears to float into the banner.

Can anyone help me wiht these two issues?

    Thanks!
    Julie

First issue I do not see in either FF or IE

Second appears to be an IE quirk/bug - search for IE bug or quirk here as many users have discoverd solutions

Ok that's weird about the first issue. I've attached an image so you can what I'm talking about. I'll search on IE quirk/bug, thanks!

I am seeing HEADING_TITLE at the top of the main page.
My "bad" I took the top of the page too literal and then my eyes would not focus any lower!!

Yes I see this and this is normally a file issue where the call is missing one of the single quotes and/or corrupt...and this presents an issue for you as you did not create your own template and an overload will overwrite your work....and you can not also switch to the classic template to see if it is one of your template edited files...none the less this is a file issue.

Start with using the admin > tools > developers tools > bottom left box and search all catalog files for "HEADING_TITLE" - you might see the issue missing single quote and maybe not....then making a list of these files use ftp and check dates for these that are later than your install date - the ones that have been edited....

no luck there then one by one determine if you have made edits and load a fresh copy from a distribution.

There's several places that's called, but since it looks like it's only on your main page, maybe try:

    includes/languages/english/index.php

or your custom template version of that.

    Also, maybe:
    includes/languages/english/login.php

    or your custom template version.

I could be totally wrong too. *LOL* I'm just thinking since it's only on your front page that might be it? If you don't see that at all in your file, maybe add it with a blank value and see if that takes care of it??

Other problem -- I'm not sure I'm seeing what you're describing. I'm on a widescreen laptop though.

    HTH,
ok once I find the error of the HEADING_TITLE I think I am just adding a ' or " correct? I think I'm onto something...we'll see, appreciate all the feedback I'm getting so far.

As for the main page description area moving into the banner area, its interesting, it appears to be a IE7 issue. I just downloaded FF and it looks wonderful except for the HEADING_TITLE sticking out there LOL Guess peeps will just have to deal with it, until or unless I find a fix.

There's two possibilities -- that there's a missing punctuation, OR that someone removed the entire line (if I remember syntax correctly, but don't bet the farm on it! *LOL*) when they should not have.

IF the line is totally missing from your files, add it with a value of nothing between the ' and ' just the constant (?? -- got to get my php lingo memorized!) with nothing as the value. Because I believe that if the line is totally missing and not just empty, it will also display it because of the code issues. (Someone please gently correct me if I'm wrong. *LOL*)

The best thing to do is go to a completely default version of the files and look at it and compare it with something like WinMerge, a line-by-line comparison, and see what's different/missing. But I think the error will be in one of those two files I referred to, simply because of where the error is happening.

Issues resolved :) not sure what was up with the main description area going up into the title logo, but I only see it on IE and well I use FIREFOX so I am not going to worry THAT much about it.

The HEADING_TITLE issue is gone, thankfully. It was in the CUSTOM/languages/English/index.php file, I had commented out both "Congratulations you have successfully etc etc" instead of changing the text. It didn't like it LOL

    Thanks everyone for your help!
    Julie
