    Hmm...what if you duplicated one of the payment modules for offline payments, e.g. cheque/money order, and then put some kind of code in to tell the mod to automatically select that option and skip step 2 of checkout if the order total is 0...does that sound like it could work??? If so, I can try and play around :)

    Even if we can't get it working so that it skips step 2, just having the option of Store Credit at checkout as a payment option would probably make things much clearer for the customer...unless of course their credit doesn't cover the whole purchase, then they might choose that option still when really they should be choosing credit card or whatever...hmmm...my brain hurts now ;)

    I just wrote a big reply to this and then realised that I think I'd totally missed your point! That does sound like it might work.

    As far as 1.3.7 - I now have SC 0.0.4 running in a production 1.3.7 store with no problems (touch wood), so I am not sure how further to comment on that one. Are people still having issues with the latest SC running on 1.3.7?

    I have just done a fresh 1.3.7 install and about to put the latest update from this thread onto, so I'll have a play with making the balance go to zero and see what it does, but I haven't come across that in any of my testing.
    Hi
    Want to tryout this module, but the date on the download page is 15 April, which predates the above post. Where do I find the latest version?
    Thanks

    The one in the downloads page is the latest version (0.0.4) - that post was just about testing it on a fresh install (because I had been testing on a mashed up store :) ).

    Can't we base the payment model on Gift Vouchers ?

    Installed this module - all working OK - Thanks.

    One comment - with this module installed, if a customer does have credit, during the checkout payment page, should the customer have a tickbox to select to pay by credit? This should be alongside the other options (PayPal, CC etc.). At the moment, the customer has to realise that by selecting nothing, it'll go to his credit account by default.

    Sorry if this has been raised before - this is a long thread and I may have missed it.

    Cheers

    Hi Pasher,

    This behaviour is deliberate - in my scenario, store credit is most often given as a refund, "thank-you" or compensatory payment and I wanted it to be as easy to use as possible for the customer. So I didn't want them to have to enter a code or select anything to pay with store credit. Also, technically, I was having trouble working out how to allow a customer to use two payment modules on an order (e.g paying for a $10 order with $5 of store credit and then $5 on credit card).

    Someone else may like to do a payment module based store credit to allow selection and splitting of store credit - at the moment it's beyond the scope of what I can put into this project.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the response - I see where you are coming from now.
    I'm building a cart for my company who sell electronic components. Most of our existing customers have credit accounts with us. Your module does give them the means to order online - I just need to make the process clear to them. As the process defaults to this module if no other payment module is selected, maybe I just need some text on the appropriate page -

    if (customer has credit)
    {
    echo "default to your credit account";
    }

    Any clues on how to do this greatfully received :-)

    Thanks

    Hi
    If a customer uses store credit to pay for products, the order details, invoice and packing slip all report -

    Payment Method: Gift Certificate/Coupon

    Obviously it needs to say 'Store Credit' or something like.

    Is this a bug, or is there a language file somewhere that needs to be edited?

    Cheers

    I've now managed to handle 'Credit Account' customers exactly how I want by using a combination of this module, and a new payment module based on a cloned COD module with a simple bit of php/mysql added.
    If anyone's interested, let me know :-)
    Cheers
