From the admin, turn OFF the "tabbed navigation".

Do it as follows:

Admin > Configuration > Layout Settings > Categories-Tabs Menu ON/OFF (5th option from the bottom of the list).

Set that equal to "0" (which turns it off along with the gray bar).

Thats not doing what I was hoping for. I want the banner sitting right on top of the dark line below (where it says Catagories and Home)... This may not be able to be done though. I dont know.

You could define the height of your #logoWrapper in the stylesheet:

#logoWrapper{
/*background-color: #444;*/
text-align: center;
height: 118px;
}

118px looks good in Firefox.

Nice start, but you might want to look at the site on a screen that is wider than 1024.
