free_red template not customizing

I know there's now support on templates, but I'm at my wits end.

I'm not really sure as to what I'm doing wrong.

I've Installed my cart, added some templates, edited my files and loaded them to the Templates/custom directory as specified, but no changes take place... I've edited the header.php file to show shop xpress, but yet zen cart still shows.. I've added a logo, but still no logo. I've done everything that the FAQ's say I must do, but still these dont change...

at www.shopxpress.co.za you can see the welcome text has changed, but still i can't get the logo to appear, or enlarge my top header (which will exclude the logo once that gets worked out)

can someone please point me in the right direction?

Could you tell us the exact location you are saving your files to
eg something like this
www.shopxpress.co.za/includes/templates/custom/images/logo.gif

for your header, logo etc
then I may be able to help some more

I am saving the files in the folders as the F.A.Q. section describes, obviously custom will be my template name?(free_red):

This is the correct location for logos for most templates, but I'm afraid that the free-red doesn't support support the use of a logo. The php code for them has been removed.

You could though try adding the logoWrapper code back from other templates into its common/tpl_header.php file.

There is some left-over styling for the logo in the stylesheet, but you would probably need to add to that too.

Happily the language files are untouched, so you will find the parameters you need still available to be set in the header.php file.

Unfortunately what you were talking about seems a bit over my head. I downloaded the template from zencart's templates if I remember correct. Thanks for your help.

Yes, it can be a bit tricky. In that case you may want to consider a different template that does support the logo. You can see most of the freely available ones demo'ed at (sorry, site offline)

I'm familiar with all the templates there, but don't believe that this is amongst them. However, in my travels I have picked up a copy of free-red and was wondering myself as there doesn't appear to be any mention of it on this site, other than your question about it.

The free red template comes from http://www.imakewebsites.ca/free-zen-cart-templates/ .

I downloaded it from them a long long time ago when I first learned about Zen Cart.

Just in case folks miss it when looking at the free templates site, all are for 1.3.0.

Just like there's no such thing as a free puppy, these puppies will take a lot of work to get them up to speed.

Thanks for the help guys. It seemed easier to create and install a flash header than to install a logo...
