Multiple Admins & Permissions

I need to set up multiple admins and restrict the areas to which these other admins have access.

I've seen Admin Profiles, as well as Admin Levels, in the download section of the Zen-Cart site, but I'm not sure which is best to use, or is there another, better, choice?

I did notice that Admin Profiles appears to require quite a bit of 'hacking' of the Zen-Cart code. I'd rather not do this, if at all possible, since future updates to the core code are so much more difficult.

So, does anyone have any suggestions?

Profiles works and gives you alot of permission control....

You just need to keep track of the core files changed.

I usually rename the ZenCart file as xxxxx.orig then upload the replacement and in this way I know which ones were changed

well my problem is littele different from yours. I am preparing a shopping cart for a shopping mall, where there are number of stores. Now i need to have admins 1 for each store. I cant allow all of them to view products in other stores neither to edit them. Now as we set the permissions to different levels of admins this type of permission setting is not possible. I want a store owner to view and edit only the products and categories in his store. please help me to solve this as I am not familiar with different features of zencart.

I have no seen a mod to create a "Mall" type of setup...you might search here for "Mall" and see what other posts say about this

I do the same thing. Plus, in each file that I modify, I put a comment above the modified area such as <!--Thomasw modified the following section in order to blah blah blah-->.

So, if some day I need to find everything I modified, I can just search for "thomasw" and all the files with these comments should be easy to track down.
