I was going to do more test on your site but I see that you've temporarily disable ultimate seo url. BTW, your search now works in IE 7.0. You probably want to make sure you put a 301 redirect in your .htaccess for pages that may have been indexed by SEs (Assuming that they have rankings that you'd like to be pass around).
Not entirely sure what you mean by a 301 redirect - any guidance would be most appreciated.
I can't test in IR7.0, because I haven't yet been bold enough to try to the kludge/fix that allows IE6 and IE7 to be used separately on the same computer, so I can test in IE6.
BTW the search works fine as far as I can tell in Firefox, even with the mod enabled.
I do also have quite a few other problems of which I am aware, but these are mainly due to me trying to trim the code by removing unwanted stuff.
You referred to 'fixes' for the problems with the SEO mod - I don't suppose you could be so kind help an old fella by pointing me in the right direction?
All the fixes that you need are already in this thread. Unfortunately, because I have abandoned this mod for a superior SEO url mod, I am not as interested to dig through these 100+ pages to find the link. If you pick up about page 55 of this thread you should see all that you need. The Paypal Express fix is somewhere on page 105 and forward.
This mod is not production ready but if you're keen on it, everything that you need to at least make it worthwhile (with the exception of two issues that there are currently no fixes for) are all in this thread you just have to spend the time to dig through.
I realized I spent more time here than the $89 it cost me to get a superior SEO Url that works flawlessly. I had great hopes for this mod and I was part of the people that contributed to get this project then. Unfortunately, all we have to show for it is a Beta version that the creator (Dreamscape) said only a stupid store owner will use it in production. Those are his words not mine.
A 301 Redirect is simply a way for you to tell the Search Engine that the address has permanently changed and moved to this new location. It's like a forwarding address on file with the postal service only in this case it's robots.
I posted all the codes needed for different scenarios and what you need in your .htaccess on this thread as well.
Nothing I have said in this post is new, they are all part of this thread which is why I am not providing much because there is really not much new, this thing has been discussed over and over, you just need about 10 hours to read all the post. The big question is how much are you worth an hour?
Blag, you can go to our site in my signature to see how the seo url we using works and it also handles duplicate urls very well which is another thing you should be concern with Ultimate SEO URL.
Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with the company that makes the SEO URL we are using on our site. I just hate people wasting their valueable time (and trust me I have been there). I spent more than 50 hours easily trying to Ultimate SEO URL to work and boy, how I wish I could have that time back![]()
Blag, A little bit unrelated but at the very least you want to make sure you test your store/mods in different makes and versions of browsers that your customers will like use. We use Google Analytics which provides nice data about the browsers people are using to access our site. IF things work in IE 6.0/7.0 and FF 2.0 and up you've basically covered more than 95%. Opera, Safari, etc. are out there but you have to decide if it's cost justifiable to test for them. We don't because they don't amount to much on our site.
Hi Everyone,
wooh, these thread is way too long..hehe
I just installed the this seo mod, but now I am having problems with the HTTPS links.
That is, https pages(account, checkout pages) return 404 (File Not Found) . But when SEO URL is disabled, the https pages (account, checkout pages) work just fine.
I have followed the instructions found here: http://www.dream-scape.com/pub/zenca...s/install.html
My Site has the following:
-Apache 2.0, PHP 5, Mysql 4.
-mod_rewrite is enabled
-Using private SSL
-HTTP_SERVER = http://www.mydomain.com
-HTTPS_SERVER = https://www.mydomain.com
-All files installed under this domain. (/home/<username>/public_html/)
-ENABLE_SSL = true
I'd really much appreciate it if you could point me to the right direction in fixing this.
Thanks!
Blag, my zen store worked perfectly just before my hosting provider switched to PHP5. So file upload error is not the problem.
My SEO Urls has all the patches published in the bug tracker here: http://bugs.smarterwebdev.com/index.php
And yes, I followed step by step evrything in the pdf help document but as I said my store worked fine untill the PHP5 switch.
I agree that the problem may not be entirely connected with the plugin but it is a fact that with SEO Url disabled the store works fine.
that what i was talking about at the begging when i had the problems like te others in running the SEO v3...
there is something wrong in the module preferences regarding the server-side options...
but v2.10 with zen 1.3.7 patches works so fine, you can check it on my store: www.alsousbros.com
and u can disable the SEO on the login , shopping cart and some other "problematic" area, so it will be going just fine...
best wishes
saher
