    Default CURL not found

I have my ZC installed and running on a Windows based server.
Today I tried to install the PayPal Express checkout and put in the information that it asked for.
Now I'm getting an error that I can't use it because "CURL not found"
So I contacted the host and they seem to think that CURL is only used on Unix servers.
I'm confused. I put in all the security that PayPal provided and am stuck with this error.
Can anyone please clear this up for me?
If I switch to a Unix server (cheaper hosting fees if I do) can I still use the ZC?
Seeing that you have areas for both Windows and Unix would lead me to believe that I can but then on the hosting list I don't see MySQL so you can imagine my confusion.

    Thanks in advance.

Then run, don't walk, to a hosting company who knows what they're doing.

In fact, it'll usually run better on Linux.

    And........?
Can you answer the question please instead of bashing the hosting.

My comment wasn't intended to 'bash' the hosting. It's merely solid advice. Don't host your business with someone who doesn't know hosting.

There are very clear instructions on how to install CURL support into PHP, scattered over the internet. Your favorite search engine can bring up the results for you and for your host just as easily as for me. Surely your host knows how to search for "how" to do that? They have certainly not done any research if they say "they think it can only be used on Linux servers".

Perhaps a simple reply to them saying "Um, no, it can run on Windows servers too. Can you install it please?" might be sufficient. While you're at it, make sure they have SSL support enabled too. CURL needs it to send your transactions "securely".

    Thanks
They've never had anyone use it on their Windows server so it's not installed but can be.
That's why I asked the question, "will ZC run on Unix" or will I have to change my database again? I'm currently using MySQL and spent a LOT of time and effort to get it to where it is today.

You can run Zen Cart on linux quite happily.

You'll likely have to set it all up again on the new server, but you can transfer all your files and database, and thus preserve your work so-far.
