Have a Drink Web Site BOUNCE Rate

On www.stuff4toys.com It seems as if I am having a rather high Google Analytics "Bounce Rate". I noticed that a user "lands" on a particular item and they are not taking the time to click the "listing" button to see the other items in the category.

    Example:
    http://www.stuff4toys.com/index.php?...roducts_id=210
    is a 5/16" Galvanized Shackle

Rarely will a customer click the "listing" button and see that we not only carry 3 other sizes but we carry 5 different Stainless Steel Shackles too!

    So the Real Question is?
Anyone think of a way to coax the customer to see the entire category as well?

Note sure if this could be done John, but can you place some text about the Product 16/21 saying something like click n the listing button to see more products. Have it in bold a font. Also I might make the Product 16/21 in a bigger font. Wonder if making the prev, listing next button bigger would helps as well.

What kind of bounce rates are you currently getting?
Are you seeing different bounce rates from different sources of traffic? e.g. Google Products, Google Organic, Google Adwords etc.

My first suggestion would be to set up some cross selling on the product pages. If there are specific products you want to cross sell then use the cross-sell mod or enable the also purchased products for automatic cross-selling (or do both).

One thought that did cross my mind when visiting your site is that your visitors may be confused about what you sell. Your website is called stuff4toys but you sell marine accessories. People might be visiting your site expecting to see products related to children's toys and finding something completely different. The website name and the content just don't seem to match.

    Regards,
    Christian.

I looked at all the cross selling mods and got confused between Cross sell and better together and the rest, Which is the best Cross Sell Mod to use?

Here is the US guys call their play things "Toys". Hot Cars, Planes, ATV's, Motorcycles, Boats, etc. A "Toy" is defined as something a person doesn't really need, but you HAVE to have one anyway. Eventually the site will expand to other products.

Surprisingly enough last year when I started researching this project all the "stuff4" domains I searched for on Network Solutions web site seemed to get registered right after. Hmmm

Better Together is when you want to offer a discount if someone buys to specific products together. If you have products that people naturally buy together than this kind of discount can encourage sales.

For the moment I would start with basic cross selling where the customer sees a hand picked list of products under a title like "You may also like...". The mod at...
    http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=694
...will allow you to set that up.

If you have been trading awhile and have sold a fair number of products then using the built-in 'Also Purchased Products' listing on the Product Info page works as an automatic cross sell. It can be configured from within Admin > Configuration > Product Info.

We use similar terminology in the UK but I fear that a lot of people will automatically connect you with sites like ToysRUs.

Personally I would have multiple sites each branded for a particular interest, i.e. one for boats, one for cars, one for planes etc. The shops then have a more clearly defined focus and it should be easier to target your customers.

That is a shame because having stuff4boats, stuff4cars etc would have been ideal.

Default SUCCESS: Web Site BOUNCE Rate

    I think I have it???

I replaced the rather demur [listing] button with one twice it's size that says [More Products Like This One], see:
    http://www.stuff4toys.com/index.php?...products_id=98

and just over night the normal one page hits are turning into 2 - 3 - 6 page views. Looks just a little gaudy but if it does the trick "Let it Be REAL UGLY"!!!

Hope this helps someone else too!

Nice idea, thanks for sharing it. I'll have to split test some different listing buttons and see what affect they have.
