Default Shipping Charges not adding up?

    Hello,

Shipping is the last configuration to make prior to going live. For some reason I cannot seem to get the same level of assistance on the forum on this topic as I do other one's

My current cart uses a basic shipping model by weight. I have a base charge of $4.95 with a minimum shipping charge of $8.95 and then it adds $0.28 per pound to my base rate and takes the higher of the two. I also have a $8.95 surcharge to ship to Canada.

I have tried and tried and tried but cannot seem to get the shipping charges anywhere close to what my existing cart has.

Small 2 pound single items x 1 is fine. But if you add 10 of these to your cart the shipping is too expensive.

Larger 20 pound single items x 1 are fine. But when you add 3 or more, the shipping is too low.

Please help me with this as I cannot go live without getting this squared away.

What version of Zen Cart are you running?

    Clean install or an Upgrade?

Which shipping module are you using?

What are the settings on it?

What settings are on the Shipping/Packaging?

Default How do I set Flat Rate for USA and Canada?

Second Question> I would like to set a flat rate shipping for the USA at $8.95 and Canada at $18.95. How and where would I set this up? Thanks.

This id for a second cart that has different shipping needs.

You could clone Flat Rate flat and make flatcanada and set zones on both then set one to one rate and one to the other rate ...

    Zen Cart 1.3.7.1
Database Patch Level: 1.3.7.1 - This was a clean install and I have never upgraded before and am scared to do so without the help of a friend.

    Module: Per Unit > perweightunit
    .28 Shipping Cost per Unit
    $5.31 Handling Fee

    Ship/Package:
    Package Tare 0:3
    Larger packages: 10:0

So far these setting are acceptable but not perfect for me. The problem that I am having with these setting is that I would like to use a minimum charge of $8.95. I have several items that weigh 1 pound and the shipping works out to be around $6.43.

I cannot raise the cost per pound because if someone orders 10 of these then the shipping is way too expensive.

    Hope this makes sense.

I was wondering what happened here. This is a separate shipping module question for a second cart that I am working on that is unrelated to this original question. Two separate carts with two separate shipping needs.

Turn off the Tare if it is causing problems by setting to 0:0 on both ...
