In my opinion - if you're going to build a shopping cart/store - you're gonna have to do some learning, exploring and venture into uncomfortable territory.

but I would also like to charge for example .50 per name.

When you're editing the attributes of an item (attributes controller), there are pricing options below as shown in the picture here. You could use the +Price or Price Per Word or letter options to achieve your goal.

Should this show a drop down box or something once I do it I am not seeing any change when I add it.
