I doubt you'll find one that has robust database support and also lets you use bits and pieces in an outside site, but good luck!

Why do you feel you need to use separate functions on the site you have instead of molding your design onto an already working engine?

The only difference is semantics, and it seems fairly difficult to find information on how to do either with Zen Cart.

Your second original question is best handled in the Google Checkout thread; there are also mods that eliminate visible accounts or make them optional.

Your first question, "what HTML/PHP elements do I need for the cart to function properly? (and where are they?)", is vague enough that it can't be answered specifically outside the context of "you can't use bits & pieces". If you ask "how can this layout/customer flow be handled in Zen Cart", you will get plenty of information.

We're kind of going round and round with the question. You posted a very specific logic flow in post 5, the customer flow of which is essentially what Zen Cart does. What part of the customer flow you want is different from the way Zen Cart operates by default?

Well, I want to know how to remove the styling in the zencart main page so that what remains is the MINIMAL HTML and PHP elements required for it to function so that I can then copy this into my own pages.

We are still going round and round - Zen Cart will not work that way - You HAVE to add your styling to the Zen Cart. Instructions are in the tutorials/ FAQ section.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

You didn't answer this question... in what way does the standard ZC customer experience not match what you want? Some parts of that can be modified if necessary.
The ZC logic will accomplish the tasks you want done, without being put into your pages.
