Google Checkout module for ZC 1.3.x (beta)

I checked the GC console and I am getting the errors:

We timed out waiting for your server at https: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx googlecheckout/responsehandler.php -- the error we got is: Read timed out Your server must respond faster to merchant calculation callback requests.

I x'd out the directories for security purposes.

Means at the time of GoogleCheckout transaction, server speed of your
hosted zencart was not fast enough for Google to complete calculations.

My last order through GC had a similar issue with shipping, the shipping wasn't free but the shipping amount was the default amount that I put in the parameters instead of the calculated amount from the USPS interface. This was how it was working when I first installed GC but then it started to work right and now the last time I had an order in GC (couple of days ago) it went back to the original way it was working.

It just gets weirder. There are two stores, running on the same server. php.ini is setup the same.
Caching, directories, sessions, the whole lot is identical (obviously not in the same place, though, I mean different accounts!). I've been over and over it again and again, right down to permissions on folders and removing then re-installing shipping, payment and postage methods.
I've checked the product types, the tax locations, the store location, the customer type. I really just DO NOT UNDERSTAND why this ONE store has suddenly decided to have problems on it's own. I'm up to £700 of my time (if I think about it like that!) and I just can't think of anything else to do now.
I've looked in the error log, and the GC console, and everything is fine - it's just not sending the postage data.

What version of ZC / GC are you running?

1.3.7 and latest GC (have tried other versions too)

Probably a silly question, but do you have two separate GCO accounts?

Heh, yes!

Remember, NOTHING has changed - both accounts were working fine for over a year, and suddenly, ONE has stopped charging shipping on Google Checkout ONLY. For other payment methods both are fine

I doubt that because this happens every time I get an order. It was working a couple of weeks ago. I know the USPS rates have been changed about that time, maybe I need to reinstall the USPS shipping module? I guess it can't hurt trying.

I just removed and re-installed the Google and the USPS modules and now it is working once again. In my case it must be due to the USPS rate changes. Good luck.

First, version 1.3.8 (as opposed to 1.3.8a) should work with 1.4.7, right?

My main problem is that no option for Google Checkout shows up when there are items in my cart, and I go to checkout. I'm pretty sure the template files are in the correct place.

In the admin, I have the module enabled.

I suppose my concise question is:
Even if something is configured wrong, but my tpl_* files are in the correct place, and the module shows up fine in the admin, shouldn't I AT LEAST get a greyed-out box on the checkout page?

Is there anything else that would cause the module to be totally absent in the cart?

I see now that there wasn't really a problem.

I didn't realize that this module is an alternative to creating an account. I should have made the connection when it asked to modify the login page template file. Since I was logged in, I was expecting to see the module as an alternative to existing shipping modules in my store.

If I am logged out, I now see the Google Checkout button as an option on the login page.

I have asked that same question since the mod first came out and i remember getting a reply that GC was created to allow shoppers to purchase items without having to create a account and login it to the store. so if they use GC to check out there would be no need to have in on the payment page like with paypal and other payment mods. I am sure you can get it there but i wouldn't know how too.
