I have tried playing around with the permissions, but nothing seems to get rid of that error.

I'm sure it is production mode, but I need to check. Where will I find this setting?

I never went into sandbox mode, I'm pretty sure.

Ahhh, just found the setting.
I'm in production mode. I never did test it in sandbox mode.
Is this a requirement?

Well, I tried that anyway, and it didn't help.
The only thing I haven't done is try sandbox mode. I never set up a sandbox account with google. I don't know what else to do.

I just changed permissions of the googlecheckout directory from 777 to 755 and now I get this...

Set up a sandbox account for testing because in production mode charges will occur.

But I'm not testing it. It's been working and I'm receiving orders. I have been for months now. It's just that I'm not being notified of the sales. I have to go into google once every hour to check on the sales manually.

What it seems to be is that the GC is not getting through to your response handler.php file. I'm at a loss for why it is not all of a sudden. Have you installed any other mods lately?
