SSU version you are trying to install? PHP version?

The latest version, I didn't know there was instruction ha! I shall read those first and see if I can figure out what I've done

Usually, if you are on a Linux server running Apache, this is enabled by default (90%). If you want to make 100% sure, I think in the installation note there is a link to an article that shows you how to check that.

when I go to extras, ssu I get this

If you refresh and see no more message, that means you are good to go. (BTW, judging from the patchs, I suspect you are using 2.9.6, the latest stable version?)
