    Default Installing SSL

my cart is on a subdomain of my main website:

    shop.mydomain.com
    (which is really mydomain.com/shop)

When I install the SSL, do I do it for shop.mydomain.com or for the full domain www.mydomain.com ?

    Thanks.

If it is a true sub-domain - - then a key, csr and the certificate must be for that sub-domain name

IF this is the only secure directory then you can set it top use shop.

    otherwise you can use www.

and then change the secure url in config to use www.domain.com/shop

sorry but with the multiple differing of answers, I am REALLY confused now. I know you are all trying to help, but it seems like I am being pointed in 3 different directions.

This would be the ONLY secure directory (and of course the subdirectorys of domain.com/shop/*)

domain.com/shop/ and shop.domain.com/ are not the same

The first is a true sub-domain the latter is a dir/folder under the root.

Do not confuse what you see in your account....it is how you are able to access in a browser. if a sub then you can load as in the first above

well, it's through go-daddy.com... They refer to it as a subdomain...

So if it is a subdomain like store.domain.com which just lives at /store it will work with a normal ssl for that subdomain?

It's not like the example in the link above where it's got the www in front like this www.subdomain.xxx.com (<not like this one)

If like you have stated - then this is a sub-domain....
You have a dedicated IP for this base domain and no other cert is attached to this IP...then a key, csr and the certificate must be for that sub-domain name
