I can't get the extension setting to work in configuration. If I wanted to add .php to the end of my aliases, should I just manually add .php to the end of of those?

Or does anybody know of a fix to get this setting working?

Lets first see why do you want a .php there? Any particular reason?
Normally people want to shorten their links, remove useless thing, and just leave the important stuff there.

What are you trying to achieve by adding a .php?

Well, I'm migrating an entire site from Oscommerce to Zencart and have very well established PR and SEO... I was hoping not to disrupt the natural order of my site too much when I do the monster switch.

You can either use .htaccess redirect or link alias. However, you mentioned that link alias didnt work for you, please post the steps you took in details.

Actually the alias is working fine, sorry if I gave wrong information. Do you think permanent redirect 301's would work fine (as in, not distrupt my indexed pages) for all of the urls? I'm just looking for an opinion if there's any risk involved. I'd like to have prettier urls without the extension in the long run anyway.

Thanks for your help on this:)

Yes, 301 redirection works. But it may take some time, i think it's a case by case thing. Some people reports drop of SE rank within weeks or even months, which eventually comes back up later. Some have it work right away.
