Default "Define Page Editor" not working

I had this question originally posted in the wrong section.

I am trying to use the "Define Page Editor" on a new template I installed, however it is not saving any of my changes. I am not getting any error message or warnings. I created and uploaded the following on my site and have file permissions set to 777:

    /bonsai_cart/includes/languages/english/html_includes/bookshelf

I edit and save, I get no errors, however no changes are made to the website, and when i go back to re-edit same page there are no changes; it is back to default. every other change i have been making to the template within the admin appears to be working fine

no advice or ideas on why the Define Pages Editor isnt working? I verified that even setting back to default template, same thing happens (or rather nothing happens) and I verified that the templat is reading correct pages as I was able to edit a couple "define" pages via FTP and those changes were reflected correctly on the website

html_includes << do not edit the define files in this dir.

You should be editting files in html_includes/classic/ or html_includes/your_template/ instead.

well i have been editing (via ftp) the ones in the template directory /bookshelf/. but still that wouldnt explain why the "Define Pages Editor" isnt working

Sometimes, 777 permissions are not correct and instead 644 should be used.

I just had this same issue and had the html_includes files recursively set to 777 and they still wouldn't save. In fact, when I edited then hit the save button, it would dump me right back to the admin index page. the only thing that I had installed was the security update (this was a new build)... I reinstalled this update and that fixed it... looks like one of those files didn't fully transfer. Hope this helps someone else.
