    Default Search for product in Admin panel?

    I just can't seem to understand what the search box in the admin panel is supposed to do. Seems to me it's totally useless. All I want to do is to search on a product item number to correct a quantity, but nothing comes up.

    What gives?

    I trust you are talking about the search field in categories/products screen?

    Just type in a descriptive word (such as the model number of the product, or a word that appears in the product name) and press Enter key on your keyboard.)

    This will return a product (products) that match the search string.

    (It works OK for me...)

    the model number or the full name of the product doesn't come up if the product is recently added... I'm just searching more general word in connection with this product...if this make sense..

    Huh???

    The instant data is put into the dbase, it becomes searchable. There are no delays.

    well in my case the newly added products (trough data feed from other site) are nor searchable...

    Most likely you are missing the master_categories_id in these products ...

    Do you use Linked Products?

    If not, you can go to the Tools ... Store Manager ... click the Update Master Categories ... then, after that is done, click the Update Products Price Sorter ...

    Thanks for the update that your import had not updated the master_categories_id and products_price_sorter on your products and that the Tools ... Store Manager ... updates were able to fix this ...

    Is "Update Master Categories" same than "Reset Master Categories"? I would not like to push a button and loose something in my shop. Definitely it is a common issue with ZC 1.3.8a that the search on admin side doesn't work. Shops that I've seen using older versions didn't have the issue. Maybe it arrived in 1.3.7 first.
    I may be blond but at least I found Zen.

    The update and reset Master Categories ID means the same thing ...

    Imported products have caused issues for many, many, many, many versions ... as in all versions as there are many things that an Import does not do that adding the Products as they were designed to be added in the Zen Cart Admin will do ...

    We cannot help that importer programs cannot manage all of the features of Zen Cart ...

    We try to provide additional tools to assist you in fixing imported products ... but we can only fix so many problems caused by add-ons and changes that are not part of the Zen Cart core code ...
