Someone could winmerge the security fixes and include this in the downloads for Image Handler.
This "patch" includes what is IMO "optional" behavior, and should NOT be included as part of the Image Handler2 add-on. For those of us who use lightboxes or other image viewing add-ons, this "patch" interferes with that functionality, and those who want the default "larger image" link functionality that comes with Zen Cart they may not want this "feature"... Just my opinion..

That said there is nothing stopping anyone from bundling up this patch by itself and uploading it to the Add-Ons section as a stand alone "add-on" to Image Handler.

You saved me some work, I totally agree.
Except I wouldn't even publish this in the downloads area, this thread is enough.

Many people will not be aware of the patch until they do a long search and eventually 3 years later after digging through countless posts they find the information.

Why not have it as an optional install in the Image Handler folder and clearly labelled about what it does and what it will also prevent you from doing regarding lightbox etc.

At least give people the choice rather than having them wade through the forum posts to find the information.

Let's be very clear.. this behavior modification is not a patch at all.. It is a code snippet that adds alternate behavioral functionality for product page images.

The way it was previously posted (with keywords) should help those searching for the same functionality. Searching for answers is somewhat the nature of the beast in open source apps..

You post this statement as is some imaginary "them" is reading this and taking it under advisement. If you feel so strongly about this you could do this yourself.. Bundle up the code snippet and instructions and upload it as an Image Handler "supplemental" add-on..

    hey guys,

IH2 works perfectly on a 1.3.8a install with the security patch, except the preview function doesn't work in the admin section. should i care? i tried to re-install it etc, but the imagelinks are still "/shop/shop/storemanager/images/ih-test.png" etc.

    best regards

Default No image IH2 image hover

I have the most recent Zen and IH2 installed but can't seem to get the image to show up when I hover over smaller images.

    Its turned on in settings.
In order to fix the jumping around issue, I recently copied the css, jscript, and popup_additional_image folders from default to my custom folder. THAT WORKED GREAT BY THE WAY!

When I scroll over a small image, the text label comes up perfect but there is no image.

Is there something else I should have copied over from the default folder?

Do you think it's user friendly to have to make people wade through countless posts or put in search keywords to find things when it could be so much simpler to include something as an optional extra in the downloads folder.

The functionality this extra code adds is worthwhile so i really don't see why it cannot be included as an optional extra in the same way fast and easy checkout has a folder which is an optional extra for the admin area.

Why make people search all the time. Why not go one better than the competition ( other shopping carts ) and include additional features to add ons as optional extra's in folders clearly labelled optional extra's.

I just cannot understand your objections and the way you try and present your objections. It makes no sense to me.

Whoever is looking after the Image_Handler contribution could easily present this as an optional extra for download within the Image_Handler folder. Make it easy for newbies and old timers to find everything instead of searching for it all the time.

It's a win-win situation for all if that was done as it could clearly be labelled and people get given the choice and surely you are not against choice. Surely you are for making things as easy as possible and while you may think doing a search is easy i would say to you that many people will not bother because many people will be unaware of this additional extra for Image Handler thus why would they do a search for it.

It's really all about choice though and as a community i would have thought that people would support optional extras and freedom of choice.

I wish i had found this addition for Image_Handler over a year ago instead of 4 months ago. The reason i didn't is because people generally don't visit these threads unless they run into problems. I ran across it by accident really so you can imagine many people will miss it and thats why including it as an optional extra within the download folder is a good idea.

Just upload an image via stock Zen Cart, by editing the cat or subcat in admin.
Admin -> Categories/Products, go down a few levels until you find cat or subcat you want.
Then click on green e button and go to Category Image, Browse button, upload your image.
    IH2 does the rest.
I'm not wanting to display a photo FOR the category, but rather on the page when the category is selected.

    Here's an example:

    http://www.apeekintoyesterday.com/st...&cPath=391_126

All those photos at the top show the product in use, and are a huge tool for me selling product. But they take up a lot of screen, and as the user pages from page to page, those show up on each page.

I need to be able to show the enlarged photos, since those really show off the product. But I don't want to take up so much space. I hover/pop up would be perfect.

Second option might be to not show them on pages 2 through x within that category. But I don't think this can be done.

    Oh brother!

Here's the point you seem to be missing that I am trying to make.. The "Whoever is looking after the Image_Handler contribution" is this community. This is an open source application. It's free, the contributions are free, and it's run by a community of (basically) VOLUNTEERS. Which means that if YOU feel this strongly that this additional functionality should be offered as a choice, then YOU should bundle it up and upload it in the add-ons section so that people can access it.. The last person to post an updated version of this contribution doesn't HAVE to do this, and may not, but YOU can.. I suggested bundling it as an "add-on" to Image Handler contribution so that it's easier to find.

For the record.. You read WAY more into what I ACTUALLY said.. But since you tried to "read between the lines", let me address a few things.. While I personally don't think this functionality is that vital, clearly others do.. Does that mean I'm against choice??? Ummmmmm NO.. and also for the record I just don't think that searching this forum for information is that big of a deal either.. If you deal with enough open source software you get used to the idea that you will need to search the forums to find the information you need.. So while it would be nice to have everything at your fingertips, the fact is that in the world of FREE open source software that is not the case.. So IMO it's more important that this community is willing to share information.. In the case of this community because the members of the Zen Cart comminty are willing to share their time and knowledge, having to search for the information I need is no big deal..

Now before you beat the dead horse of why can't this just be added to the Image Handler contibution, it can.. YOU can, as a member of this community, bundle up this code snippet and upload it to the contributions section. You can repackage the entire Image Handler and "include additional features to add ons as optional extra's in folders clearly labeled optional extra's" or you can package just this code snippet and upload it as a standalone add-on which is an "include additional features to add ons as optional extra's in folders clearly labeled optional extra's". Either way if YOU feel this strongly about it, the point is that YOU CAN DO THIS without waiting for someone to agree with you and take the baton.. After all as a member of this community you are part of the "Whoever is looking after the Image_Handler contribution".

You had too much coffee today ?

I will upload this to the add ons section as an additional optional extra :)
